Tucked away in the quiet countryside near Matamata, Streamside Country Manor is a warm, character-filled retreat surrounded by gardens, farmland, and the gentle sounds of nature. Our unique manor offers a relaxing base for exploring the Waikato while enjoying true rural tranquillity.

Each room is thoughtfully styled for comfort and calm, with beautiful views over the gardens, lily pond, or surrounding farmland. Guests love the peaceful setting, cosy atmosphere, and the feeling of stepping into a storybook escape.

The unique craftsmanship throughout, is a standout feature. Traditional exposed timber beams with mortise-and-tenon joints showcase beautiful, honest carpentry, while shining natural wood floors add warmth and character to every space. At the heart of the home is a large open fireplace built from locally sourced stone, creating a welcoming place to gather and relax during cooler evenings.

Staying at the country manor was an absolute treat. It is a beautiful, spacious and heritage-inspired home with an abundance of rustic charm, inside and out. The house has everything you would need for a comfortable stay and we were delighted with the thoughtfully curated vintage decor that gives the home real personality. Caren, our host was friendly and extremely thoughtful, eager to help out with all our needs and requests. We definitely highly recommend especially if you are considering a visit to the nearby Hobbiton

A breathtaking home and property. Highly recommend staying here. The rooms, the view, the decor, the claw foot tub, everything was magical. We were a little disappointed the washer was broken but not enough to give this property anything other than the highest recommendation to fellow travelers and locals alike.

Staying at the Stream Side Country Manor is a ABSOLUTE MUST. It’s not just a stay, It’s an experience like no other. If you are thinking of going to Hobbiton then this place is the perfect retreat. The house is full of character, built using 10th century carpentry techniques the joints and beams are held together with pegs. It is cosy and stylish, a beautiful house in a wonderful farm setting. I would absolutely stay here again!

This house is just gorgeous! Beautiful wood and so tastefully presented. Our children and grandchildren arrived just after we had lit the fire, it was warm and welcoming and a magical start to a family weekend. Enough bedrooms for us all and so comfortable. The weekend was full of activities, golf just down the road, Hobbiton for the teenages, and I had the beautiful gardens to explore with the grandchildren. Highly recommend this accommodation, we had a wonderful time. The hosts Caren and David were just lovely. We will all be back!

A Perfect Country Escape!We had such a wonderful stay at Streamside Country Manor! The house is spacious, beautifully decorated, and feels like a cozy home in the Shire. It was perfect for our family celebration plenty of room for everyone, a large dining table for shared meals, and a fully equipped kitchen that had everything we needed.The setting is just stunning — lovely outlook with expansive rural views, so peaceful and quiet, a real escape from the hustle of city life. We spent lots of time out on the covered patios and the kids loved running around on the big lawn.Great location too, right across from the golf course (hubby was desperate to escape and have a round)only about 20 minutes to Hobbiton, and close to walks in the Kaimai Ranges. We left feeling completely recharged and can’t wait to come back!

This home was a wonderful place to stay for our family of five as we explored the north Island. We used it as our homebase for three nights while we explored Rotorua and Hobbiton. The house were extremely kind and gracious, and they even had a fire going for us when we got to the house two of our three nights that we were there. They were extremely kind, and the house was wonderful. Very peaceful. Would highly recommend anyone staying in this area to stay here – you won’t regret it!

Welcome to our home. I hope you fall in love with the place as much as we have.
David and I now live in a tiny loft apartment above the garage. We have recently sold or goat farm. Now David is developing a business producing high quality compost to farmers and home gardeners. Once the children left I turned my sight to a new career as a homeopath. Completing my qualifications in 2020 I now run a growing practice in Matamata

We built this home twenty six years ago with the mind of bringing our children up in an environment of beauty and resilience. This home has been the centre of many happy family occasions and holds many precious memories. I hope that this beautiful home will also hold a special place in your memory after your stay here.
Our children have all grown and have started families of their own and are based all over New Zealand.
As everyone started to leave I felt our beautiful home began to lose it's "heart". This home needs people, vitality and love that is why David and I decided to open it up for others to share and experience the incredible beauty it has to offer.
I hope you enjoy your stay and experience some of the joy we have had staying in such an unique and beautiful place for so many years.

What makes this home so unique is it’s amazing handcrafted structure which captures a slice of history. Built using traditional carpentry techniques, the magnificent timber frame is both robust and beautiful. The exposed hand-crafted beams, interlocking joints, secured by hand-whittled oak pegs makes this home something out of the ordinary.
It has such a warm and inviting atmosphere full of charm and home comforts.
In every corner there is to be found an eclectic collection of interesting and treasure Caren has collected from many visists to opertunity shops, overseas travel and from family members. Each piece has it own facinating story and adds to the overall charm of this wonderful home
