The chalet was idyllic the setting was so tranquil. It was the perfect getaway to recharge. We traveled with our dog and it was an ideal spot with a lovely paddock for exercise. Sarah was so thoughtful with the breakfast . Will definitely return.
This was our second stay at the Chalet in the Shire. Always spotless, has the essentials, cosy and warm, breakfast provided, privacy, easy check in. Perfect for the dog.
This chalet was so cozy! The scenery is absolutely beautiful and you have your own private patio with a couch, table, and chairs. Eating breakfast there was wonderful. Sarah also provided eggs, bread, milk, coffee, and orange juice. It was so sweet and tasted so good after weeks of travelling. Such a thoughtful addition that makes this place stand out. There were quite a few spiders and a few bugs, but that is to be expected considering you're on a farm. But, overall, this is such a peaceful stay. And, if you're going to Hobbiton, you will LOVE all of the Lord of the Rings decor. It really gets you in the spirit! If you arrive at night, note her outdoor area had no lights so slow down near the spot on the GPS. There is a gate!! (I missed it twice my first night arriving.)But enjoy the silence. You'll get such a deep sleep!
Fantastic stay, cozy cottage lovely and warm. Very handy to town. We would thoroughly recommend it Sarah and her husband very accommodating lovely couple.
We had a wonderful stay! The space was private, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. Our dogs were warmly welcomed with their own beds and toys, which they really appreciatedâitâs not always easy to find truly dog-friendly places. Our bed was super comfy, and we loved the thoughtful touches like the breakfast supplies. Everything was clean, cozy, and just as described. Would definitely stay again!
Very quiet with beautiful surroundings.Awesome view from bedroom was of large rock formations and lone pine tree. Our dog was very settled and calm during our stay.We were surprised with all the extra surprises, chocolate biscuits, fruit juice, eggs, bread and conserves to name a few.An exceptional chalet with everything considered. Close enough to various amenities around if required.
Sarah goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, especially providing breakfast supplies, and the property is immaculate AND you are allowed your precious pooch to stay as well.So amazing. 10/10 in every way. Thank you for everything. immaculate.
Sarah hosts thoughtfully a beautiful, peaceful, idilic place to stay with real consideration to the needs of the people staying. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Thank you Sarah
This is the 2nd year we have stayed at Chalet in the Shire and it is still every bit as wonderful as our first time was. One the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on, clean and comfortable, a huge fenced grass paddock for the pooch to frolic in, plus breakfast items consisting of eggs, toast, jam, muesli, milk and fruit juice are stocked in the chalet upon arrival. The ice tray was full and a jug of cold water in the fridge ready to drink. It's this extra care that will keep us going back for years to come still. Thanks again Sarah.
Stayed in this cottage and it did not disappoint! The scenic drive to the cottage was wonderful, rolling hills and very peaceful. Sarah, the owner was in contact and made getting there and into the property super easy. The The drive into the gated property with its tree canopy was beautiful. The cottage was gorgeous, with little momentos of Hobbiton which is the reason we stayed in Matamata, for the Hobbiton Tour and Beer Fest. The breakfast supplied was fantastic, we picked up some smoky bacon to enjoy with fresh eggs and toast. The bed was sublimely comfortable and the backyard was bathed in sun in the Morning. Would absolutely stay here again but this time for a few days longer to really enjoy the cottage and its facilities, and the peacefulness of its location.
I work full time at the local school dental clinic, have been married for 27 years and have two children who are pursuing their own careers now. I have two well mannered but excitable dogs who are kept away and under supervision while guests are staying.
