Thanks for checking out our vacation home! Built in 2020, Fort North is located at the end of a dead end street in a quiet and quaint neighborhood. The house is walkable to everything- 3 blocks from Main Street downtown, 6 blocks from beach. It overlooks the Galien River Marsh with spectacular views from the balcony. Relax on the sprawling front porch and enjoy the sunset over the marsh or choose to eat dinner on the back patio.
We are located just minutes away from restaurants like The Stray Dog and Caseys as well as the grocery store, quaint downtown shops, and the public beach. Our favorite is enjoying strawberry ice cream at Nancy's after a late afternoon walk. Just steps away, you can spend the day chilling at the private heated association pool. Close to the local casino, wineries, and breweries, the house is designed for large groups and the neighborhood is family friendly. The kitchen/dining area has seating for 12 and in includes a stocked kitchen with a gas stove and custom cabinets. The living room features a gas fireplace, perfect for curling up with a book. There is an additional living space with bar, table, and beverage fridge in the basement. You will love the peaceful, relaxing vibe our house has!

Fun weekend in New Buffalo

Our group of friends enjoyed this home which is conveniently located to the beach, restaurants and shopping. It is clean and we really liked the layout. There are plenty of beds and bathrooms for a large group. We were surprised by the lack of large pots and pans. We were cooking for six and had to buy a large pot for pasta. Hopefully they will also supply a bit more toilet paper for guests. Each bathroom had about a half a roll. Otherwise we loved the place and communication with the owner was excellent. .

Beautiful home in a great area

This home is beautifully decorated and very well supplied with everything you need. From kitchen supplies, to beach towels and toys, to bath towels and toilet paper, it is well stocked. We loved having 3 separate floors so that each of our children (and their family) could have their own private space. Each floor also had its own temperature control. Our grandkids loved playing hide and seek and found so many fun places to hide. They also loved watching the train go by several times a day (This is not disturbing at all. They are fairly quiet, very short, and not late at night). The house is very conveniently located near the town, so walking was no problem. The walk to the beach is a little longer and if you have a lot of things or it's very hot, I would recommend driving. You do have to pay for parking but we had Uber Grandpa who shuttled us back and forth, so it worked out well for us. We had hurricane force winds come through one night during our stay which caused a few problems (obviously to no fault of the owners) but all was taken care of and the owners continued to check in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Our only complaint is that the front porch and grill could use a good cleaning and make sure to bring your bug spray as the mosquitos were loving us. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Perfect home setup for our family.

Lovely newer home with charming decor. Within walking distance to all the fun; pool,lake,restaurants and shopping. Short drive to kids fishing spot. The hostess was very prompt and helpful when we had a question or problem. Our only complaint for our stay was the home was in need of a deep cleaning before we arrived.

Good for kids and couples and singles

My friends and I had a great time! They all have children, and the house accommodated them well. Kids loved the pool. It can get pretty packed tho. Close and walkable even with kids!

Amazing return stay!

We love this house- it was our second year coming back! We've made so many memories at the beach, walking into town for dinner and ice cream and swimming at the neighborhood pool. The house has everything we need and is beautifully decorated. The kids love the bunk room! We all loved spending time on the front porch. We were even inspired to buy a shuffle board table after our first stay! Thank you for another great stay, we hope to be back soon!

This is the second time we have stayed in this house, it’s perfect for a family vacation. The location is great to the pool, downtown and beach. Rachel is very responsive to inquiries. I would definitely recommend.

Girls beach and shopping time.

We had a wonderful stay at this well appointed beautiful home. The owner told us about great places to eat and places to visit. We walked to the beach everyday and enjoyed Lake MI - so refreshing. After dinner we walked the 1/2 mile and loved the perfect sunset views over the water. We had fun playing pickle ball at the local high school were there were 8 courts at least. We would enjoy coming here again ❤️. Thank you - highly recommend.

Summer Getaway

The house was perfect for our family! It comfortably slept our family of 5 plus both sets of grandparents. We love renting in the Merchant Street cottage community, the location is great and you’re within walking distance of everything you need. We thoroughly enjoyed the shuffle board table in the evenings!

Great stay with fully stocked home

We enjoyed our stay in this home for the weekend. The home was stocked with everything we needed: an abundance of towels, coffee maker, cooking pots and pans, plenty if utensils, beach chairs and pool needs, and more. Everything was in clean, working order. The beds were comfortable and clean with plenty of sheets, pillows and extra blankets. Location is perfect for a walkable vacation.

Whitakers Fourth of July fun!

Staying at this property for the second year in a row! Already booked it for next year as well. We love the convenience of the location. We love the home layout as well. My young granddaughter gets a kick out of the train that comes by every few hours. Overall just a wonderful vacation spot for my family of 10!

Perfect Girls Getaway

It’s a beautiful home with tons of space, attention to details and excellent location. It was the perfect spot for a girls weekend because it was so walkable to anything you’d want - coffee, bars, restaurants, beach, marina. Highly recommend!

Great house for Bachelorette Gathering

I rented this house for my daughter’s Bachelorette weekend! The house is absolutely beautiful and located a few blocks from the downtown and beach (both walking distance). From the big front porch to the quaint back room and patio…the house is perfect! It is decorated so nicely, has a fully equipped kitchen, and lots of bedroom and bathroom space. I would rent this house again and again and again! And…the neighborhood pool is an added plus!!

Perfect Place for Girls Weekend

The house offered a perfect home base for our girls weekend. It’s conveniently located to many shops, restaurants, breweries, etc. There was more than enough space for our group of 7. I can’t recommend this place enough!

The stay was great. The location was easy to get to and it was walkable to everything in town The amenities in the house are great. We had 12 girls stay in the house comfortably and be everyone enjoyed the stay.

Amazing home close to everything!

We came on a family trip here with 4 adults and 5 kids under 6. The house is stocked with all of the towels, beach towels and beach gear we needed. We loved playing shuffleboard and foozball in the basement. Lots of meals were enjoyed on the front porch. The neighborhood pool was close and perfect for our young kids. It's just a couple blocks to everything in town- we walked to dinner/ice cream every night. The beach is ~1/2 mile away. We walked to the beach one time and decided to drive the next time since we had so many young kids, but it's not far. The beds were very comfortable. We loved how the house was decorated! We hope to make it an annual tradition to come stay here!

Beach vacation

The house is well kept and maintained. We had everything we needed. We loved no traffic being on the dead end road. From the 4 year old to the 67 year old , rooms accommodated well. The community pool is small but very nice. Beach is a walk but very easy to get to. Tge train is close but didn’t bother us .

Already booked for next year!

We absolutely loved this house. Eight adults and one child and we had plenty of room! Our favorite part was the basement, we played so many games of table top shuffleboard! We booked it for 2024 before we even left the property.
