Paradise in desert aire

This may have been our best vrbo experience ever. The pool was phenomenal. Melissa was amazing and flexible beyond belief. Location of the house is prime in desert aire.

Desert Aire Beauty

Great property with really good amenities. Melissa has everything in the vacation rental anyone would need - including extra toiletries and first aid kit...really well appointed. Pool turned out to be an above ground pool style which is OK but advertisement is a bit misleading. Looking forward to coming back again.

There were 8 of us in the house - 4 adults and 4 youth ages 13-16. There was plenty of room. The house was clean. Good location within Desert Aire. Excellent communication with owners.

Melissa and Jason were awesome!

I had a few question that were answered promptly. The house is super clean and a really nice layout. It was my wife and best friends birthday weekend. The house was ready well before the check in time which made things way easier as we live on the west side of the state. Really had a good time at desert aire at J & M retreat! Five stars!

Super helpful owners, pool...okay

The property owners could not have been more attentive, from quickly responding to questions before our trip with helpful and detailed information to quickly responding to a question while we were at the property. Five stars for customer service, for sure! The interior of the house was as pictured. Everything had clearly been cleaned before our arrival, though we found a couple of pans that needed to be re-washed before using. I assume this was previous guests using/washing-not-so-well/putting away. I don't think the owners could do anything to prevent that sort of thing. There were a lot of flies in the house the first couple of days we were there - we guessed maybe doors were left open while cleaning/airing out the house between guests. I'm sure this is necessary, especially right now, but it wasn't super pleasant. There were also some small sugar ants in the kitchen. I know well that there is almost nothing you can do to prevent this and it certainly isn't a reflection of cleanliness, just something to know/be prepared for during summer months. The pool was somewhat of a disappointment. The picture of the pool in the listing made it seem bigger than it actually is, at least to me. The water was cloudy, not clear. We brought diving toys for our kids to use and ended up taking them out because we couldn't see them. We added the pool chemicals the owners asked us to add while we were there and were very careful about regular bathroom breaks for the kids, but it never improved. It's also helpful to know that it is an above ground pool, therefore the same depth all the way around. Our youngest (6 years old) wasn't quite tall enough to stand with his head above water, which just meant we needed to be even more thoughtful about pool usage. Just a good thing to know if you're planning to use the pool and you have younger kids. The last thing to note is that the property owners or others visited the property a couple of times while we were there. Once to bring in the garbage can. Once to access the garage space. We didn't have any interactions with them, but they were there a couple of times. In the check-in information they clearly state that the owner/pool maintenance person/handyman may need to access the garage during your stay. It didn't cause any alarm when we saw them, but it did make our stay there feel a little less private. Again, just a helpful thing to know when considering this house. Overall, the experience was good.

Perfect Getaway

There were 5 kids and 5 adults in our party and the property offered a lot of room for all of us to relax. The kitchen and pantry room had everything we needed to cook or grill. The bed in the main bedroom was so comfortable, and the kids were excited to share the bunk beds in their own room. We loved waking up every morning to sip coffee on the deck or stand in the kitchen or living room to see the gorgeous view of the river. By the way, the house is maybe a minute to Priest Rapids Rec Area where you can take your boat or jet skis out, or float. The kids enjoyed swimming in the pool most of the day or riding their scooters on the private driveway (which is huge so you don't have to worry about cars- not that there's much traffic). Most importantly, the owners were very nice and responsive to our needs. Thanks again for your kind hospitality!

We enjoyed our stay at the house very much. The kids had lots of fun in the private pool.

The house was great. The house was very clean and ready for us. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cooking equipment. It was very nice to have a personal pool for the kids to play in on the hot afternoons. Easy walk to the river. Great place to stay.

Great family getaway

Stayed here for a long weekend with my family and one other family. Was perfect size for us, the kids loved the pool and overall the community was great. The property manager was also easy to communicate with.

Great Getaway

Beautiful house with all the amenities you need. My son spent hours swimming in the pool. We put our kayaks in the river at the boat ramp. We had a great family trip.

Relaxing Stay

We really enjoyed our stay. It was spacious and the perfect size for a trip with extended family. The kitchen was stocked with all the appliances and utensils needed- we used the slow cooker, instant pot, and the oven in the to make our meals. We didn't get to try the fancy air fryer! I also made a pie with the pie plate provided (I brought a flimsy foil one). The house was super clean, the furniture was great quality. Having two separate areas with big screen TVs allowed two different groups of people to enjoy different shows at the same time. The yard was beautifully done and we enjoyed the view of the yard, river and the mountains when we ate or did dishes. The property had a large paved area where my daughter learned to ride her bike! The kids loved the pool and swam in it several times a day every day. There is a grocery store in Mattawa a little north of Desert Aire where we ended up buying some ice cream, but we didn't know beforehand so brought all our food in a cooler. We were able to unwind, relax, and hang out with the family during this difficult time!
