Casa Morada in Potrero is a magnificent 6-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home with a large private pool in Pacific Heights, in the hills above Potrero.

The Space:
Each of the six beautiful bedrooms is meticulously designed with top-of-the-line mattresses, high thread-count sheets, and blackout shades to ensure the perfect night’s sleep. Five bedrooms boast king-sized beds, while the sixth features two queen-sized beds. The villa is also well-equipped for families, with two cribs, a high chair, and kids’ toys available.

The four-and-a-half bathrooms are equally luxurious, each with its own unique design and every comfort imaginable.

There are four TVs. One large TV in the main room is mounted on an articulating arm so that it can be watched from indoors or out. Three of the bedrooms also have Smart TVs.

The home is air conditioned throughout with individual controls, and there is high-speed Wi-Fi available throughout the property.

The expansive great room is the heart of the home, featuring a floor-to-ceiling glass wall that opens completely to create a covered, indoor-outdoor living space with a spectacular view. There is a deep, comfortable sectional, upholstered in outdoor grade fabric that can seat a large group. There are a number of furniture pieces collected from artisans and designers all over Costa Rica to give the room an eclectic, local feel. Movable ottomans allow for different configurations of seating and conversation. A show-stopping art piece by Christine Flynn anchors the room, featuring a lone surfer in Costa Rica.

The Neighborhood:
Playa Potrero
Offering easy access to three beaches (Potrero, Penca and Prieta), this town combines upscale lodging options with the charm of a traditional Costa Rican town (think central plaza with church, school and soccer field).
There are plenty of restaurants, shops and other conveniences, and the downtown area has two mini supers (convenience stores), as well as a commercial plaza with a coffee shop, a hairdresser and other businesses.
Some of the liveliest nightlife in the region can be found at Las Brisas Bar, right on the beach, though it’s normally hopping only on Wednesdays (Ladies’ Night).
Potrero has several nice housing developments with “Villagio” in the name, popular among Italians and other expats. You can find Italian gelato shops, Costa Rican sodas (small, affordable restaurants) and hotels in a range of prices (Pitaya Lodge, Bahía La Esmeralda, Hotel Isolina, Bahía del Sol).
Just to the south of Potrero lie all the attractions of Surfside, and to the north is a beautiful, hilly drive along the ocean, ending at the Mediterranean-style village of Las Catalinas. Potrero is within easy striking distance of several beaches, and it’s a great base to explore the entire region — for a sampler of both the high-end and the humble.

Getting Around:

For short jaunts to nearby towns or beaches, golf carts are a popular choice for convenient mobility. Alternatively, you can opt for a bicycle to navigate the town and its surroundings.

While taxis are available, they may be somewhat challenging to find. Many locals rely on buses for transportation, although there is a limited selection of routes and schedules. Private shuttles are an excellent choice for reaching nearby destinations, and numerous tour companies offer transportation to and from their tours.
