Prepare to be welcomely surprised by the large size of this updated open layout single-family home! The location for 836 Donax couldn't be better-nestled far enough off of the main road to experience tropical seclusion, while still being close enough to bike to restaurants and antique shops. Gaze out at the Sanibel River from the large family-friendly Kitchen island, or head out of the french doors to the screened-in lanai to feel immersed in the lush vegetation. Cooling off on hot Florida days will be a breeze with the fenced-in pool being only a few steps from your front yard and the sparkling beaches only a 6-minute bike ride! 4 large bedrooms surround the heart of this home, with enough space and beds to easily sleep 8. Interior laundry, ample counter space for family cooking, and large comfortable living space make 836 Donax the perfect vacation spot for an extended stay on Sunny Sanibel Island!
It was a great place to stay for a larger family. The listing said 3 bedrooms, but it actually had 4 much to our delight (that was the "better" part). Great communication from the host, easy access to everywhere on the island. Highly recommended.
Perfect location! Close to all the beaches and shops and restaurants! The property was just the right size for the party of 7 we were traveling with! Pool right out the front door was awesome and clean! We would love to come back every year!
This house was great, big enough, quite place. Kids enjoy extremely. Beach was only few blocks. We enjoy the stay. Only some bugs outside house as property advertised previously. I definitely recommend this house.
This property is exactly as it looks in posting. It is very spacious, well cared for, clean, and in a great location. It is close (walking distance) to bar/restaurants, shopping, and the beach. The property manager was super attentive and responsive. We are very happy with our stay!
Property was great and we had a wonderful time. The only issues we faced were the kitchen wasn't well stocked with items like cups or mugs. They didn't have a wine opener, etc. Otherwise it had everything we needed. The dishwasher also didn't work.
Bedrooms, bathrooms, common space, porch, everything else was amazing. Perfect basecamp for adventures out across the island.
This was a great location for us within just a few minutes of the causeway and a few minutes drive to Jerry's and other island eateries and essentials. A 12 minute walk to the beach made much easier with the cart we could use for putting beach chairs in (also provided by the property) as well as other beach essentials. Billy's Rentals was a short drive away where we hired bikes and spent the day at the Lighthouse Beach and an evening at the fabulous Mudbugs. The house felt very authentic for the tropical location being nestled amongst the trees and surrounded by iguanas. We also saw turtles, iguanas and a baby alligator in the pond (although no mama alligator much to my son's disappointment!). The shared pool with other properties at the location was very popular with our children for an afternoon dip after a day at the beach.
House was clean and alot looked to be updated. however, louvers on the blinds were missing, one of the showers had no blinds on the window so when showering the unexpected landscaper was walking by. Made it weird. Living area couch leg was broken. Could use more living area seating. Every morning woke up to back up beepers and equipment running. Right behind the house is the sewage treatment plant. Explains the rotten egg smell. Pool was nice. I know how much the island has been thru and this property was ok considering.
After the hurricane there is a lot of repairs still ongoing. We didn't have curtains in the bedrooms, whilst having construction workers outside our windows being able to peak in. We didn't feel like we had much privacy in that regard.
Expect to be up early as the workers start around 8a with the chainsaws and heavy catapillar equipment running.
At the end of the day we really didn't mind and understand they are a community rebuilding so what can you expect. The price point was right for our group and the essentials were there for us to have a great trip! Thank you for having us.
We were very satisfied with the property. A very nice recovery from the hurricane compared to other areas of the island. Easily room for the six of us, and the kids loved to pool area. A couple of things that could be improved. The broken handle on the front screen door and quite high up. There were ants in the kitchen most of the stay, plus a couple Palmetto bugs in toilet by kitchen. Beautiful refrigerator but the ice machine wasn't connected leading a late night dash for ice our first evening. Some hangers in all the closets would help. Huge spider webs in the roof of the lanai bothered the ladies and kids. A instruction sheet for the TV would have helped. We would definitely consider coming here again as expect more post-hurricane work to continue. Plus the shelling at Turner Beach was great.
O Sole Mio has been redone and is a pleasant place to stay. It was listed as a 3 bedroom but was a 4. On the downside there were ants (and ant traps) all over the kitchen. We did not get all the supplies promised (trash bags and tp), there were no blankets, no large bowls for cooking or potholders, and the lone chair in the living room had three legs but was propped up to look like it was stable. Fortunately, we tried to move it for TV viewing and it fell over before anyone sat in it. We called and got the chair picked up but no replacement. The property management did get us some blankets (temps were in the 40's and bedspread was stained on the underside) two days later. Overall, it is a decent property and was a lovely place to stay. Property management could have been quicker in response and better at furnishing the basic necessities.
No seating in living only a couch. Ants every where. Only one tv. We really didnât think about that because every where weâve stayed had tv in bedrooms. Pool was very nice. Yard was a mess chairs turned over not mowed. Mold all over the patio door on outside and on the patio furniture. Not very healthy for us elderly so we couldnât enjoy the screen in patio. The chairs for beach were moldy. No umbrella for beach. Needs a few more dishes, plates mugs , glasses, lack of comfortable living room furniture.could be a nice place to stay.. 4 bed rooms and one couch. The 4 white kitchen like chairs are not for tv watching.
It was like being on a private island as Sanibel is rebuilding after Hurricane Ian. The house is perfect for families. Very clean. Would suggest adding another TV, more hooks for towels, and window coverings for bedroom and bathroom. Otherwise...perfect!
Great house with plenty of room. We only had a small fam of 3 (other fam couldn't make it) and it was spacious. Perfect location too. Centrally located to all things. Had the best time!
We loved the house, pool, location, and layed back life style of Sanibel.
One suggestion would be to clean the air filter or put a new one in as it was really dirty and we found ourselves coughing a lot. Everything else was perfect
Great pale to stay. Lots of lizards, birds and trees to make you feel away from the hustle and bustle of life. Great location close to restaurants, shopping, and beach access. Has a clean pool on site.
We came down with our single daughter & son, wife & 2 kids. Plenty of room, sufficient kitchen & great having pool right out the front door. Really enjoyed the screened in porch. Location is great! My only issue was if you plan to cook you need to bring EVERYTHING you need. Great cooking equipment but all that was provided was salt & pepper. We get it, just would have been nice to know.
Large home that was great for our family. Walking distance to beach and we loved the shared pool. When we arrived there was a nice big umbrella that gave much needed shade at the pool. Toward the end of our stay, the umbrella was missing and we learned it belonged to a homeowner and they left for the season and they took it back. Hopefully, the homeowners association will buy an umbrella for the pool.
The home was supplied with everything needed for the beach including a beachwagon, towels and toys. There was new furniture in the bedrooms and some was delivered during our stay for the screened in porch. The management responded quickly to issues we had with housekeeping and plumbing problems.
Our first day there was a foul smell outside from a nearby wastewater treatment plant. This smell came and went depending on the wind direction but was noticeable only a few days of our month stay.
This is the perfect place for family with bedrooms at each end of the house providing plenty of space and privacy for son, daughter in law with new baby and the my husband and I at other end with our daughter in 2 bedrooms. Full kitchen allowed us to make Thanksgiving dinner. Huge back yard patio nice for evenings and review of shelling for the day.
