What an absolutely incredible house! It was spacious, comfortable, and the views were out of this world. There are not many tourist locations or shops nearby, but if you get groceries for your stay, the kitchen has everything you need, and you never have to leave the pool. Look for turtles in the water and crabs on the cliffs. It really is Hawaii relaxation at its finest.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was amazing with amazing views of the ocean. We were there when they were having huge swells due to a storm. Waves were awesome to behold. Everything in the house was perfect and had plenty of room for 6 people. I would highly recommend this place with 5 stars across the board

A wonderful family vacation!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house has the most perfect view I could possibly imagine! I appreciated that’s it’s in an area further away from tourists and perfect for getting a feel for the slower lifestyle. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub every single day, and couldn’t get over the view of the ocean. I’ve never stayed that close to the water before! We also liked that the kitchen is nicely equipped, as we were making group meals to feed our whole family. We would absolutely come back here!

We had a really great stay here! The view is even better than the pictures, we had everything we needed, and had no troubles with the check-in process. We would definitely stay here again if we ever get back to this island!

Relaxing Stay

First impression wasn’t great as it was very warm when we walked in but once we got everything opened up it was great. The pool is fantastic and we enjoyed watching the turtles swim in the crashing waves. Also, the mattresses were fantastic. Always looking for a great night sleep on vacation!

Loved this property

We loved this property, the views were beautiful (including watching sea turtles playing in the waves) and we used both the pool and hot tub as the weather was rainy. A good location for a day trip to the Volcano National Park.

Mahalo for your review, Jessica. The pool is professionally cleaned and serviced weekly, but leaves and other debris can blow into it at any time. We provide a skimmer so guests can remove anything that finds its way in between pool service visits. I have never heard of any housekeeping issues at Hilo Shagrila before, but mistakes can happen. Remember that we are only a quick call or text away - we would send someone immediately if a housekeeping or maintenance issue was reported! Love Hilo Shangrila

We absolutely loved our week at Hilo Shangrila! The waterfront location with breathtaking views and watching the sunrise every morning was amazing! The home is very comfortable and nicely decorated. It is on a dead end street in a very quiet neighborhood…we never heard anything but the ocean and the frogs at night. I would absolutely stay there again!!

Perfect place to stay near Hilo and Pahoa

Can’t say enough great things about Hilo Shangrila. Amazing location, the pool was perfect and the view of waves and turtles as well as sunrise just fantastic. House was well equipped and great neighborhood also. Thanks so much. Hope to come stay again sometime.
