Lake house at Prineville Reservoir

Delightful and Cozy cabin overlooking the Lake!

Come enjoy this comfortable updated 3 bd, 2ba lake house, just minutes from putting your boat in the water!

This air conditioned home is 2 stories with entrances on both the upper and lower floor. Upstairs has one bedroom with a King size bed, and a full bathroom with shower/tub and dual sinks. The family room is also upstairs, and has 2 sofas and a 50" TV with a Roku TV box and a DVD/Blue-ray player. Note that we now have high speed Wifi, with streaming services for TV available (Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, etc).

From the family room, walk right out onto the deck overlooking the lake. On the deck there are 2 large glass tables with umbrellas and 4 chairs at each table, as well as a large outdoor sofa and a BBQ.

The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, accessories, and everything you need to cook with. There is a coffee machine and a toaster, as well as a dishwasher for easy cleanup.

There are 2 bedrooms downstairs. One room has a queen size bed. The other room has bunk beds, the upper bunk is a twin and the lower bed is a full. Each room has a closet and dressers. There is also a bathroom with shower downstairs, as well as a washer and dryer unit.

The area is great for boating, water skiing, wake boarding, jet skiing, swimming, fishing. hiking, mountain biking, UTV trails, dirt bike riding, etc. There is a boat ramp less than a 1 mile away (about a 2 minute drive), or you can take a 2-minute walk to the day-use beach across the street.

There is plenty of parking including lots of room for boat or RV parking.

Enjoy barbecuing dinner on the back deck and enjoy the beautiful sunsets overlooking the lake!

Second time staying

We have enjoyed this home previously. Just a block away from the nice and popular little ‘beachy’ area. Comfortable for six. Enjoy the deck with a great view once it cools down later in the evening. Looking forward to staying again. My only wish is that they replace the bunk bed room with a regular bed. The existing setup is squeaky every time you roll over so whoever sleeps in that room will end their stay unrested.

We spent three nights at the Lake House and we had a comfortable stay.  The house is cute, the furniture is comfortable, the decorations are nice, and its very clean.  And the air conditioner was essential!

Wonderful lake house

My family and I spent Father’s Day weekend at Bryan and Lisa’s lake house. The home was very clean and comfortable and suited my family well (toddler and infant). Proximate to the lake, quick trips to the beach were easy and located in a nice, quiet area. If you are traveling with small children, the second story access does not have a way to lock the door from the inside to prevent them from getting out on the catwalk. All in all, my family and I will be returning again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We used the property as a staging base for our rock hounding in the area. There was an excellent view of the lake and surrounding mountains. We spent most of our time on the deck enjoying snacks and beverages. An unplanned benefit was the ability to view the Perseid meteor shower as the area is designated a Dark Sky site. Prineville offers some quaint coffee shops and restaurants and access to some Thunder egg collection sites. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were clean and well stocked. It was nice to have a laundry available of site to catch up on 4 days of "used' travel clotes. Would book again if in the area

Week stay at Prineville Reservoir

House was fine for what we needed, a headquarters for our week for allstar baseball. Bryanwas nice enough to partially refund us for some of the issues we found with the house (bathroom door was crooked on hinges and wouldn’t close, broken railing on deck, false advertisement about a hot tub (a main reason I booked). Bryan assured us these issues would be addressed after I brought them to his attention.

Worth the trip!!

We brought our jetskis out to the reservoir for a last minute post-4th of July weekend and were so pleased with #1: THE VIEW #2: The excellent/walkable distance to the waterfront and #3: the abundance of room for the cars/truck/trailer/toys. The home has the “basics of the basics” but is priced as such. If you’re looking for more amenities (ie:beach chairs/towels/a well-equipped kitchen, etc. - you’ll want to bring those things yourself) TIP: Be sure to fuel up all your cars and boats/watercrafts in Prineville proper as there is no fuel within 30 minutes of the reservoir. We’ll definitely be back!!

Find something better.

The property was just okay. Check in was terrible as the code provided did not work and we had to track down the owner for help. Keep in mind there is no cell service and you’re not allowed to use the wifi at the property. Bring DVDs as there is also no form of cable or movies. Terrible communication with the owner. I’m certain I could have found something closer to the water and much nicer for the money if I looked earlier. Over-all do not recommend.

We’re disheartened to see this review. It’s unfortunate that this guest decided not to follow the rental agreement procedures for checkout, leaving garbage and trash all over the house, food in the refrigerator, dirty pans and dishes all throughout the kitchen, left waste in the toilets, and took mirrors (and their mounting hardware) off the walls. When we communicated these issues to the guest, she lied and indicated there was no cleaning supplies and that the conditions were like that when she arrived. This simply was not true because we were at the house the morning before they checked in, and documented everything was as it should be. As a result, we had to charge extra cleaning and repair fees, and she wasn’t happy, so decided to leave a negative review. It is true that the initial lock code we provided did not work, but she called me from the house, and I was able to provide her a new code while she was standing at the front door. I know this because she tried it while on the phone with me and told me it worked. Our rental information (provided before booking) documents the unreliable cell service in the area, as well as the limited TV availability. There is streaming TV service in the home, which runs through the WiFi, but due to the remote location and less than ideal cell service noted above, it is not always reliable. We do provide some DVD’s in the home, and also recommend bringing DVD’s if you plan on watching a lot of TV. Our other reviews for this home have been very good and tell a much different story than this guest. We’re sorry it had to turn out this way.

Listing not what we expected

The house was decent. Dishes in the cupboards was dirty with caked on food. We had to wash pots and pans just to use them. It was advertised as a lake house. The issue was that the low water level in prineville reservoir resulted in a 10 minute drive to any water, instead of a 5 minute walk down to the water. Internet was virtually non-existent which was an issue for my family. We couldn't log into any streaming services and ended up buying a video at a store which we left at the house for the next renters to use... Overall, the location is very nice and quiet, but the experience wasn't what we had hoped for.

We are very sorry that your experience was not what you were hoping for. We have been renting this house for 3 summers and have not had concerns about dirty dishes before. We even recently installed a dishwasher so it is easier for guests to wash their dishes before checking out. That being said, we have also conveyed this concern to our cleaning staff and will make sure this doesn’t happen again. Regarding the water level, we tried to make it very clear in our listing description that the lake level is low this year, and to check conditions before renting. We obviously can’t control the water level in the lake based on the extreme drought conditions experienced lately, and try to make it clear to guests before renting. We also state clearly in the listing description that the Wifi is not hi speed and can’t be reliably used for streaming movies or even web browsing. We are working on this, and have tried to make it as reliable as possible, but due to the rural nature of the property there are limited options. We take pride in providing a nice house, with full amenities, for guests to enjoy their stay near the lake. Hopefully the water will be back in the lake soon.

Lack of security

When we first arrived we noticed the door was loose fitting and the wood around the door jamb was cracked. The code to enter the house quit working on the second day of our stay and we were locked out. After numerous attempts I was unable to contact the property manager. After an hour outside in 95 degree heat, trying to devise a plan and knowing that my husband's insulin was in the house, we discovered that you could use a credit card to unlock the door. This left us knowing that anyone could easily break into the house. It wasn't until 4 hours later that I was contacted by the property manager, via email, not a phone call as I requested, and given a new code to enter the house. Other problems with the house besides the door were: It was 85 degrees in the house when we arrived, No hair dryers in either bathroom, the sheets in the master bedroom didn't fit the bed so they kept coming off, had to remake the bed every day, only 3 chairs around the counter but there were 4 of us staying there, (the house sleeps 7). There is no kitchen table. The umbrella for the outdoor table doesn't tilt to block the sun and it was too hot to eat outside. The water tasted terrible in the house, hence the coffee tasted terrible. I don't usually drink bottled water but if I had known, I would have brought my own drinking water. The BBQ was a mess and only 2 burners worked. I left the house in perfect condition, I folded all the towels in the dryer, ran TWO loads of sheets and towels and cleaned the counters and the refrigerator, took out the garbage etc. Without a local contact and the remote location of this house I would not trust this rental as being a safe option.

The property was not well maintained. All the outdoor furniture was ripped, lots of spiders and spider webs everywhere. I wouldn’t recommend staying in this place.
