We had a great stay

My family of 7 (5 kids) had a terrific stay in this home. We loved all the space and comfort. Beds slept great and the whole house is set up for relaxing and comfort. The fire pit out back was great fun too!

Lovely home for a Tennessee get away

Nice home Rooms were a very good size too. Some updates in the kitchen would be nice . Also need more bowls in the kitchen . Very clean Close to Knoxville and easy to get to Gatlingburg too.

Everything was clean and out together nicely. Location was great. It was roomy. The only thing was that it smelled like cigarette smoke. It was a little overpowering.

Had a great stay

My family 89yrs old-3yrs old Enjoyed a week a the house. It was well maintained and had everything we needed for the stay available. There was plenty of room for everyone to space out and not feel cramped up. Previous comments stated about a smoke smell in the home. We did NOT notice any smell of it at all. Owner was very quick to reply when we needed to get ahold of them. Would stay there again!

One floor convenience

There are no stairs except one step down for the laundry room. Everything was convenient for cooking and the neighborhood was quite quiet.

Excellent House in a Great Location

My brother and I stayed in this nice VRBO home rather than a hotel while visiting our father in the hospital. It's extremely clean, well taken care of and the beds are very comfortable. We preferred cooking instead of always going to restaurants and the kitchen has all the equipment you'll need. My only criticism is the Foosball table needs a Foosball. Everything else is outstanding!

Great location, comfortable home

Sheila’s VRBO is in a great location. Nearby things we especially enjoyed were the hiking trails at Haw Ridge and the UT Arboretum and Calhoun’s restaurant on Melton Hill Lake. The home was comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped for preparing meals. We loved having the Keurig! The full washer and dryer were much appreciated. Sheila has obviously invested a lot of thought, time and money in making many upgrades to this home to make it appealing and comfortable for her guests.

Another Great Stay

I read the reviews about the safety of this house and even thought the front door is old, it was still very secure when locked. The house was very comfortable. The pictures don’t show all the improvements to the home and furniture and we were pleasantly surprised at all the differences. All the beds, two king beds, three Queen beds and two single twin beds. And the home was spotless. All appliances are nice and clean, and in good working condition. Not certain when I'll be back to Knoxville, but I will be checking to see if this house is avavailable again when I do.

Housing for Regatta on Melton Lake

Nice because it was close to the lake and air conditioned, so we could stay there between races, get cool, and be out of the sun. We also enjoyed the kitchen, so we could eat healthy. It does smell a little smoky and needs airing out, but there are no screens in the windows. Also, the can opener doesn't work.

Could not access the property the coast the property manager gave us did not work and as of this far we are still out the money and no one is being helpful on refund are money had to get different hotel rooms on both night

Terrible Nasty Unsafe Property

Where to start? Terrible over powering cigarette smoke and mildew smells throughout the home. Filthy linens, with bodily fluids and perfume smell all over them. Uncovered plug outlets, doors that do not lock from the inside which makes it impossible to stay there with children as they can open the door and walk right out. The floors were also filthy and covered in dirt and even fingernail clippings. We were only in the home for a few hours before we had to leave and find somewhere else to stay. My daughter and I are both allergic to mold/mildew and we both got sick the following day. Please don't waste your money renting this home!

First, I want to say that this home has an 8 out of 10 rating prior to this guest. But, I am ALWAYS disappointed when travelers smoke in my NO SMOKING/NO EXCEPTION home. Beacause all they do is make it horrible for the incoming guest to the home. I have purchased ionizer machines to place in the home when smoking has occurred. But unfortunetly, I can only use them after the smoking guest leaves. I assure, this home no longer smells like cigerattes. Also, this claim of mold in the house is unfounded and an easy claim to make once gone. BUT if there were any mold in the house, the ionizer would destroy mold too.

Got better after we cleaned

The second we opened the doors we were instantly taken aback by smell of cigarettes. It was definitely a smokers home. I read reviews where the owner implied a renter broke the rules but this is obviously not the case. She told me the previous owners were smokers. We stayed two weeks and knew we could not take the headaches for that long. We put down our bags and drove directly to Walmart for cleaning supplies. After we cleaned the walls and lit good candles from Bath and Body Works ($80 worth) the smell dissipated but was not gone. All of our clothes smell like smoke after we would wash them. Even after coming home our suitcases smelled like smoke. I did find it weird that I could not turn on the central fan because the owner operates it remotely. I had to text her to get it turned on. It did get cold in the middle of the night and I had no way of turning it off myself. The property itself is nice. The rooms were clean and the appliances were great. WiFi worked perfectly. We definitely used the washing machine often. We had a great time visiting Tennessee but we will not be using this residence again. This home is a great place but the owner needs to invest in a professional cleaning before subjecting the next renters to the smell. It is overwhelming.

Yes, the home was previously owned by a smoker, but it has been professional painted, remodeled and cleaned but the darn smoke smell does seam to still come through at times. However, it does not help when guest break the rules and continue to smoke in the home, which continues to occur with more regularity than folks would understand. Happy Travels The Owner

Quiet neighborhood , unkept yard

This home smelled of cigarettes as if someone had smoked all day and night inside. We found cigarettes by the door and ramp. We put dryer sheets in vents to see if that would help. Nothing worked! Even after spraying lysol on a daily basis. I made the owner aware and left a lengthy voicemail asking for someone to come clean and mop the floors. We stayed gone most of the day every day to avoid having to smell like smoke. There is a nice table and chair set out in front yard. We were unable to use it because the grass had not been mowed in what looked like over a month. It was over a foot high! We stayed here 5 nights! The only plus to this home was the washer and dryer. Clearly this home needs a deep cleaning to remove the cigarette smell. I was disappointed that the cleaning crew did not advise Sheila of just how bad it smelled. There were 4 trash cans in the front yard. The trash smell was horrible with big flies all around and maggots in the trash can. The smell was tolerable on Thursday after it was dumped Wednesday. We checked in on a Tuesday. The smell of trash and high grass prevented us from enjoying outside. The cans need a serious clorox cleaning. A doormat at the front door would be nice to keep the trash off the floors. The house had been renovated however the smoke smell inside has ruined it.

It is unfortunate that others violate the rules and smoke in my 'No Smoking/No Pets' no exception home. I don't blame Laura for being so bothered by the smell as I am too! The grass is cut weekly, and around the rainy weather. Along with weekly trash pickup, just like any normal home schedule it is too bad that is wasn't to Laura's standard somehow. Unsafe and unclean

The most concerning thing is the front door to your property. You can tell looking at the frame that a door was kicked in at one time, but it was replaced with a door that is not the right size for the frame making it an easy target. One of our friends is a police officer and said that the door could be broken into in seconds. There is a visible gap between the door and the frame. We had to put a chair by the door to ensure that it was secured so we could go to sleep. It felt very uncomfortable and unsafe. The front porch is also unsafe as there is no railing on the raised platform. One of us fell off of the porch and hurt their ankle because when it is dark you can’t see the area clearly. We were charged a cleaning fee and I’m unsure how often you make it to your property to check up on the cleaning crew that you employ but I can guarantee that your house had not been cleaned from not only the last guest that stayed, but possibly longer than that. The bed sheets had crusted stains on them as well as the towels smelling dirty. We bought detergent to wash them and found a load of dirty towels wet in the washer as well. The kitchen table was honestly disgusting with caked on food, sticky, and visible dirt all over it. The refrigerator was dirty, remotes sticky, food found in couches, filters on air purifiers caked in desperate need of a change, and appliances like coffee maker and Keurig contains mold which is unsafe to use. The floors could not be walked on with bare feet and when someone did their feet turned black within an hour. The house smells horrible of mildew/mold, the counter top in the kitchen is broken, and the bedroom door with the queen bed is broken. There was also only 1/2 a roll of toilet paper for us to use on the first night which was not enough, and the inability to control the temperature was quite frustrating. Tried to speak to the owner who replied once and didn’t address any issues on safety, then replied last with “k” when I brought up safety issues again.

First, I want to say that this home has an 8 of 10 rating prior to these two back to back travelers. Next, I think this traveler spent ALOT of her valuable travel time and family vacation time focusing on every little item she could dream up. This home, and this neighborhood have not had a door kicked or a robbery in the 30 years that I have lived in the neighborhood.. The Karns Community, of which my nieghbor is part of, is considered one of the safest communities in all of Knoxville. Her Police friend could have checked the public records to verify the neighborhood to calm her fears. Any adjustments to the door are simply settling to the house over time. Regarding the cleaning. I have an EXCELLENT housekeeper, and stand behind her and her crew. My home is cleaned exceptionally. I just think this traveler got focused on the negative and could not see anything but negative. My home, with its 2 King beds, 3 Queen Beds and 2 single beds is a GREAT value and is a wonderful stay experience. The Owner

Great Overall

The property served its purpose and was as described. If I had to complain about 1 thing it would be that the converted bedroom smelled foul like mildew. If that door was left open, it would make the entire house stink. Other than that, zero issues and zero complaints. Would probably stay again, as I’m sure that issue is probably long resolved by now.

Family Vacation

Overall the house was very clean and comfortable, fees were reasonable, there were plenty of beds for everyone, so much nicer than staying at a hotel, if I compare the cost for us to stay at a hotel for the size of my family, I would have to have 2 rooms each night, and not have a full kitchen most likely, lots of TVs, the kids were loving it. I would definitely stay here again.

The space was nice but had an old smoke smell.

I did not look at the reviews before hand and I agree with the bad smell which is like an old smoker lived at the house. It doesn’t smell like it’s new smoke but old smoke. My group stayed for over two weeks and the smell lingered on our clothes. The twin beds in the pictures show it is in a bedroom but those are in the garage so that was false advertisement. The floors were really dirty, unable to walk on them barefoot. Also, the kitchen and the appliances aren’t the cleanest and have an old smell to them as well. The space was great though. Big beds and rooms but wasn’t comfortable with the cleanliness of the place and smells.

Any lingering smell is from guests who continue to disregard the "No Smoking/No Exceptions" in the home and bring the smell back into the house. And it just takes one to renew the problem and take weeks to remove the problem. Guests continue to smoke in the bathroom mostly! The Owner

Good location

My family rented this property while we closed on a house a couple towns over. Location is great. Neighborhood is quiet. Spacious backyard. Washer and dryer definitely came in handy with having a toddler. Beds were comfy. Only downside which I saw in other reviews was the fact there is a smoke smell but it was only noticable when you first enter the home, it's not that bad like some people have stated. Would recommend to our family and friends.

Lots of beds

This is a small simple home that has 5 queen or king beds that sleeps 10 to 12 adults . Amenities added like coffee makers and toasters towels washer and dryer and foosball table are very handy for a multi-day stay. Just one bathroom, so plan accordingly.
