Cute, eclectic house with everything you would ever need. The maple room bed is super comfy and has a huge bathroom. Fresh flowers and shoveled path were a nice welcome on a dark, dreary, snowy day.
We did not go because of the weather. But the manager of the property was very nice to us and understand that. We are really looking forward to book this property again.
We had three adults, a dog, and 6 month old baby for the weekend, and enjoyed our visit. The owners communicated well and very very welcoming and hospitable to all of us, including the dog! Also gave us great food recommendations for the area. Would definitely return in the future!
Property served our needs very well. Comfortable and well-maintained. Owner lives next door and came to greet and orient us upon arrival and to say goodbye when we left. Would stay here again.
Robb was a very gracious and sweet host with great info to share about the area and answered all my questions before and after checking in. I loved the house and what it had to offer. Would love to come back.
Thank you Robb!
A comfortable, country get-away with all the conveniences of home. The kitchen was well stocked. Robert is a very generous and attentive host. Stephentown proved to be an undiscovered (to us, at least) gem.
We stayed for a weekend to go to Tanglewood which was about a 30 minute drive. Listing is on point. Beds were comfortable. House was comfortable and clean. It is a bit remote but don't be intimidated. The owner was very helpful and responsive to questions.
Comfortable accommodations in an out of the way location. By far, the best part was the owner. We enjoyed every conversation that we had with Robb, a Renaissance man in the true sense. Chatted with him about his music, art, wine, books, travels and a friend's cookbooks (Dede Wilson)!! We may just have to return. If you like a good conversationalist with a colorful legacy, we recommend a visit to Stephentown with Robb as your host.
My husband and I had a relaxing stay at this tucked-away home. Robb met us upon arrival and gave us an overview of the house. He was gracious and friendly, intent on making our visit as pleasant as possible. The house was fully stocked with anything we needed and, while this is the rural spot we wanted, there was plenty for us to do in the area. Nearby restaurants and markets, with Albany, Troy, and the Berkshires within 30 minutes. Robb was happy to make recommendations for anything we might need. We will definitely be back.
A wonderful host, a cozy house, a unique experience!
I highly recommend this property! It is perfectly located: far enough away from the bustle of our suburban home, immersed in the local wildlife, and yet provides easy access to many attractions. My family absolutely loved our stay. The house is so spacious, charming, comfortable and well-stocked that we had a hard time leaving it to visit the museums.
We made a new friend in our host Robb. He was very responsive on e-mail and on the phone, and he gave us detailed directions/instructions. He met us at the house and gave us a tour, provided great recommendations for visits and food, and made us feel welcomed. He also provided a wheel of award-winning local cheese that was an immediate hit with everyone.
The absolute highlights of our stay were the musical jam session we had with the multi-talented Robb, the constant parade of birds at the feeders right outside the bay window, and the easy conversations we had with Robb on a variety of topics including art, music, culture and history.
We will surely be back! And hopefully, we'll see some bears next time.
Had a lovely time at Robertâs place. In the woods with flora and fauna everywhere. Plenty of space indoors and out for shared or private space. Very accessible and responsive owner.
Robb doesn't just rent you a place; he hosts your visit. He showed us how essential things worked in the house, and was happy to offer any information we requested about where to go/ how to find things. The couches are super comfy -- so you could fall asleep there -- but the bed was great, too. I'm no coffee expert, but the coffee he left for us at the house was so good, I'm still thinking about it.
This is a beautiful and extremely private spot. In the woods on the very top of the mountain. GREAT WATER. Plenty of room outdoors to roam. The spring is exhilarating, the summer is lush, and the winter - my favorite time on the mountain..
For a private get-away, or a family gathering, it is a perfect place. Woofers welcome!
Dirt road - ten(?) cars a day and that is a busy day for traffic. Big fire pit in the lower yard. Mountaintop air. Virtually no noise here. Your host loves to pick delicious wild mushrooms - which are abundant up here. In season I can bring you chanterelles, porcini + many others - or if you'd like, take you can join me for a mushroom walk.
My favorite benefit - nothing fancy here, just a lot of put your feet up and relax furnishings. Comfortable and cozy.
