We had a fun time at the lake at this property! The house layout is good, the private beach area and fire pit are great! The owner, Kim, was very responsive to communication. Our only complaint, and something that we overlooked when booking, is that there is no air conditioning. In 85-95 degree weather is tough!
We have stayed at this property for two weeks in each of the last two years. It was another great stay. With things more open in 2021 it was ever better than last year. We really love the are and Bear Creek Lake. Perfect for us - quiet and relaxing. Kim's house is the nicest we have stayed at in this community. Boats are a big plus for us and there are kayaks and a rowboat. Great take out places, and all the stores and restaurants in area will meet your needs. You have to get ice cream at 913 Scoops at least once while you are there. Highly recommended. We're looking forward to next year.
My wife and I have stayed at many lakefront houses in the Poconos over the years - both with and without our children. Bear Creek is our favorite lake and this was the nicest house we have stayed at there. Most rentals have something you do not like but this did not. We really enjoyed our stay. We usually take advantage of restaurants and shops in Jim Thorpe but with Covid concerns we were not able to this year. But there were plenty of nice places for take out within a few miles of the lake. Kim was also a great host and very accommodating. We're already talking about booking for next year.
This is the third year in a row we have stayed at this house. We really like the lake, the location, restaurants (especially the take out places nearby), stores, 903 Scoops for ice cream, and Jim Thorpe in general. Close to everything we need. Kim continues to make improvements every year. We hope to stay again next year.
The house was perfect for our group of 8 friends. The lake area was really nice, plenty of kayaks and a boat to use. Wish we could have swam but lake was closed, not owners fault but definitely would have been fun to swim in the lake a bit too. Overall awesome stay and would return.
Absolutely beautiful lakefront property! We were barely in the house! So much fun with the kayaks and paddle boat. Thereâs a grill and lakeside fire pit too. Wild definitely return!
Inviting house, loaded with kitchen items, large bedrooms, working fireplace and clean bathrooms. Very convenient to Big Boulder. It must be nice in the summer with the lake right off the deck.
My family enjoyed our stay for a couple fun days skiing and snow tubing and popping in the town of Jim Thorpe! It is a great location in the Jim Thorpe/Poconos area to visit what you would like ... and loved the view of Bear Creek Lake right in the back yard!! What a peaceful and relaxing visit. Can only imagine how nice in the summer months it would be!
This lake house is lovely! We enjoyed coffee on the dock in the mornings, kayaks and row boat during the day, and a fire by the lake every night. We could not have asked for a better lake-side location for our family getaway!
Great experience at this property. The dock was lovely for drinking coffee in the morning, and the fire pit made for nice nights. Would definitely recommend.
My friends and I had a wonderful girls weekend and enjoyed the property! The big deck, back yard, sandy area, fire pit, and private dock were perfect. I would love to plan a trip next summer to enjoy the lake. Highly recommend this place :)
We love Jim Thorpe. This house in Bear Creek Lake was perfect for our getaway. We spent time on the John boat and did some fishing. We caught a few large mouth bass. Itâs a quiet and peaceful at Bear Creek we mostly had the whole lake to ourselves. The house is very clean, it has everything we needed, we really enjoyed our time there. We spent nights by the fire pit. We brought our bikes with us and went to Lehigh Gorge State Park and did some biking along the Gorge. I recommend going there. Itâs a really nice trail. We visited the city of Jim Thorpe, itâs such a cute town with an Old Jail museum. Thanks for the great getaway. We will definitely be back next summer.
We had a very nice stay on this lakefront property. The Lake Community was extremely quiet and peaceful. The beds were newer and comfortable. Kitchenware was eclectic but plentiful - much more than we've seen elsewhere. There is a washer and dryer with detergent and an extra refrigerator if needed. The wifi worked well. Some of the house furnishings are dated but clean and comfortable. Our grandsons had a blast with the kid toys (cars that moved and made noise, etc.), and there were board and card games for adults. There was no air conditioning, but the property is very well shaded. There were also overhead fans in the bedroom ceilings and stand fans available which helped to keep us comfortable. We understand A/C may be added for 2021.
The large deck has a gate if you have toddlers. There is a fire pit near the water, and plenty of wood available. There are two small kayaks with paddles and life jackets, and an inflatable multi-person float that can be tied to the dock or towed slowly by a kayak. The water is shallow enough for kids even to the end of the dock. There is a lot of sand for kids to play in on the property side of the wood wall, about a foot high, that separates lake from property. Itâs an easy walk down the quiet street to the small community beach with shade, a lifeguard (after noon), picnic tables and a permanent âdiggerâ in a sand pit that our grandsons loved.
We had one issue caused by the previous tenants, and the owner bent over backwards to make it right. Overall, a clean and quiet lakefront house with a very nice property manager and owner. We will definitely consider returning here.
Due to Covid we had to cancel our big family trip out in Tennessee and decided to find a little getaway closer to home. I have 2 young teenagers and my bother has 2 teenagers as well so we wanted to find something to keep the kids happy and busy. This was the perfect choice.
Kim was excellent at answering every question we had, getting back to me right away any time I contacted her. The whole trip was super easy and stress-free.
There was plenty of room for us all inside. A large kitchen table for meals and games when it rained, a room with 2 sets of bunk beds for the kids, and 2 full bathrooms. The kitchen was stocked with a lot of cooking supplies, utensils, and dishes. There is a regular coffee pot and a Keurig as well. In the laundry room is a second fridge that we used to keep extra ice and drinks in and a gas grill right outside.
The huge deck, sandy beach, private dock, and fire pit were absolutely perfect. There was a rowboat 4 of us were able to take out and fish from and 4 kayaks to use. This kept everyone pretty busy. We also brought inflatable tubes to float around on. The lake was gorgeous- the water was so clear and clean and it was like glass. t's an electric motor only lake so a lot of people were out on their paddleboards and sailboats. Fishing was great- we caught large and smallmouth bass as well as lots of perch and sunnies. There is also a pool and beach to use but we wound up having so much fun we didn't leave the house. There is also room in the back yard for some games. We brought can jam with us and was just enough space. The Adirondack chairs along the water were also the perfect spot to have your morning coffee. It was so peaceful.
I would recommend bringing a few extra life jackets- although there were a few there- especially if you have smaller children. Definitely bring fun things to float on, fishing poles, extra wood for the fire pit, and some outdoor games.
This was exactly the getaway we all needed after a long few stressful months.
Thank you Kim!
We loved returning to Bear Creek Lake and the location was perfect for our girls retreat. The house was comfortable and roomy and the private dock and beach area was great. Thank you!
This house offers so much to be home away from home. You can relax as much as you want or be as active as you want in a development and town which offers a lot for every season.
