We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful historic home. It was so well appointed and stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Asheville was a delight to experience again. Nothing like the mountains, art, and lovely people!
The property was well appointed and clean. The only thing that would improve the home would be having window coverings in the kitchen and sun porch. Otherwise it was perfect!
First time staying in Asheville. Absolutely absolutely loved viewing the Biltmore. The history was fantastic. Loved all of the arts and crafts in the area. The Bennett suite was absolutely perfect, and the location was central to everything.
We loved our stay at this VRBO! Beautiful historic home with a great location near everything we wanted to do. Our 1.5 year old son loved the property as well, especially the basket of vintage toys in the sun room! There were even toddler size utensils in the kitchen which he used. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back some day!
We had a fantastic stay! Property was very clean, beautiful view of mountains and sunset from the back porch. So thoughtful to provide bathing products and things such as ground coffee for guest use as well as the book of procedures and recommendations in the area. We loved White Duck Taco Shop, Early Girl Eatery and Tupelo Honey. We also made the brewery rounds, Sierra Nevada, Wicked Weed, and the Funkatorium were great!
We had an absolutely lovely stay in the Bennett Suite. It is a meticulously restored property in a great location. Sitting in the front room or in either of the bedrooms, it was easy to imagine we were in another century. It was a little oasis, quiet and comfortable but within easy walking or driving distance to everything we needed. It was thoughtfully equipped with all amenities. We loved watching a thunderstorm from the front porch! Our only regret was having to leave.
Our vacation just wasnât long enough! We were wowed by this historic home, before we even stepped inside - quiet neighborhood, private yard and front porch with rockers. We were welcomed with snacks and drinks - so nice after a long trip. This home was the perfect blend of historical charm and character, coupled with a new, modern kitchen and bath. The bedrooms and living rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the restaurants and must-see recommendations. We will absolutely book this home again on our next trip to Asheville.
Although probably the oldest building I've ever rented for any getaway, the owners have thoroughly modernized it for guests and kept its character intact as the country home it once was. You will be comfortable.
The only suggestion I would make is to take that "chef's kitchen" phrase with a grain of salt.
We had no baking dishes for the oven and no mixing bowls for food prep.
Fortunately, we were visiting family so could borrow what we needed, but if we were 'on the road' that wouldn't have been possible.
Central to the best of everything Asheville Yet Somehow Tucked Away/ A Foodie Locale As Well
Tucked Away, yet, in and among a very lovely and walkable neighborhood. Gorgeous sunroom with a west-facing rolling lawn and mountaintop view boasted incredible sunsets. East-facing sunrises on the front veranda not to be missed either. Bedrooms were gorgeous and equally invited beautifully restful night's sleep. Even the bathroom was a roomy and inviting delight. The westerly back lawn, ever-viewed from the sunroom and kitchen picture window, is lovely entirely in its own right with bunnies greeting the morning, fireflies lighting dusk; with the lawn further alit after sunset, cached among one of the stand of trees, a string of subtle lighting invites a couple more hours on the evening lawn or further offers a visual delight from the sunroom. In fact the sunroom becomes a fun evening hangout for reading, games, plenty of room for laptop games and board games simultaneously. Incredible locally owned eateries also seemed tucked away in among the neighborhood, some very, very close at hand many within walking distance, some of the best among them could easily be walked or driven past and never know they were there, a foodie paradise. We always seemed to opt for take-out and bring a variety of dishes back, our spread heartily traded and shared with each other by the fabulous picture window views of the Bennett Suite.
This is an an extraordinary property in a very pleasant and peaceful environment. It is impeccably maintained and cleaned. Despite being a historic building with vintage furnishing, the plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical systems have been updated, functioning superbly throughout our stay. The property managers and maintenance staff are first rate...very responsive and communicative.. Worked with us patiently as we had some changes to our planned itinerary. We could not recommend this property and staff more highly.
We really enjoyed staying in this piece of Asheville history. The location is quiet, and West Asheville is certainly trendy, albeit might not be everyoneâs style. We enjoyed some of the local eateries, breweries and artisan shops. The only negative was having other renters in the adjoining unit the last night of our stay. They were nice folks, but itâs really like youâre all in the same room as far as hearing way more than you care to.
What a wonderful stay we had at the Bennett Suite! The home is beautifully restored and furnished with antiques. The kitchen is well-stocked, the bathroom has plenty of fluffy towels, and the beds are comfortable. We especially appreciated the thoughtful treats of candy, wine/beer and energy bars! The detailed information regarding the suite and the local area was interesting and helpful. The hosts thought of literally everything!!!!!
The owners, Rob and Caroline are locals and have completely fallen in love with West Asheville. They lovingly restore homes in this wonderful historic neighborhood.
Driving by this home day after day it spoke louder and louder to Rob and Caroline. After a short while, they bought the home and spent months of time researching to bring the home back to its original glory.
There's no doubt that the location is absolutely perfect for a vacation home and/or a place to call home here in Asheville. Unique features include 13 foot high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, 150-year-old hardwood floors, fireplace chimneys carefully restored and much more. All the preservations were made with the weaving in of all the modern amenities of the 21st century.
