We enjoyed the property; they werenât kidding about the views! The place felt nice and spacious for a family of four. The kitchen was not fully stocked though. Be prepared to buy all food. There was a coffee maker, but no coffee. There were spices, syrup, and canola oil, but no condiments. Groceries are expensive there! Only one TV is a smart TV so bring HDMI cables. We loved the hot tub!
Enjoyed this property for both adults and children (ages 7-11). Great location, very comfortable beds, nice hangout spaces throughout. Would stay again!
Just as advertised. A well cared for property with everything you could possibly want. Often with rental properties it's the little things like bed comfort, towels, dishes, etc that fall short. Not here though, everything you might need for relaxation, comfort, cooking are present. The hosts are very responsive and the home user manual has all the necessary instructions for operating the electronics. 15 minute drive to S Lake Tahoe center.Highly recommend choosing this one and we will definitely stay there again.
We stayed during the Christmas holiday. The house was decorated with a Christmas tree and felt homey. It is a beautiful and clean home. Would definitely consider staying here again.
This is a really nice spot, with reasonably quick access to lifts and the lake. Ubers to/from the casino area were pricy, but it might have been due to a EDM show that was in town. Furnished with anything you might need, with the small exception of shampoo. Great view of the mountains, hot tub, and comfortable bedrooms.
We enjoyed our stay however there were some issues. There were lots of cobwebs in the home, the furniture (couch and chairs) was very uncomfortable and outdated. The sheets had some discolorations on them and some utensils in the kitchen were cracked. We didnt use any pots and pans as we brought a few of our own. We ran out of paper towels after a couple days into our 8 night stay as well as kleenex right away. We couldn't find any extra paper towels or kleenex in the home. We also bought sandwich bags as there were only a couple and no tin foil so had to purchase a lot of basics. For the high price point we expected the home to be better stocked. The check in was very easy and the owners were very quick to respond to questions. The beds swayed too much but were mostly comfortable. I cleaned all the counters, all the dishes and washed/dryed all the towels prior to our departure. We left the home spotless. We loved the view and saw two black bears, as well as a coyote and bats on the property. Thank you for having us.
The stay was great from start to finish. The location was in great proximity to hikes, beaches, and Heavenly village. The property itself is spacious and had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves while relaxing or playing games at the property.
This was a family trip for Labor Day. House was welcoming and cozy. Short drive to downtown. As well loved sitting on the deck and enjoying the views for dinner and breakfast. We will definitely be back!
Two couples shared this home for the 4th of July weekend. It was spotlessly clean, just a few miles from South Lake Tahoe, well stocked and had a very nice view from both decks!
This home would be ideal for a large family or two families to share.
Recommended!
The house is very nicely decorated and furnished, conveniently located to South Lake Tahoe, and has beautiful views from both balconies: great for morning coffee or watching the sunset over the mountain tops to the west. Also, the hosts were very nice and responsive to question or inquiry.
We had an absolutely wonderful time during our visit. Communication with the hosts was top notch and they were super helpful and accommodating. The house is very well maintained and clean. Sitting in the hot tub and watching it snow was blissful. Great location with easy access to South Lake via Pioneer Trail. We had a great time and already are dreaming about our next visit.
Very nice cabin! Had a lot of USB plug ins for electronics and a nice surround system. However didnât have smart TVs so we couldnât watch anything but their cable or VHS. Also this is the first time I had the owner call me to give me the low down on the propertyâŠwhich I already understood from the description on the email. I think he was just nervous about us throwing a party or ruining his cabin, but it was just my family enjoying the snow. Lots of framed reminders of charges throughout the house which would be added if damages happenedâŠwhich was a little odd. But overall, we had a great time and the cabin was beautiful.
First of all, this cabin is the BEST cabin we have stayed so far in the Tahoe area. Itâs also better in person than the photos shown online. The home is super clean, has a rustic cabin feeling but at the same time very modern and itâs actually cleaner than some hotels we stayed in around the area. They have a nice hot tub on the lower deck which is super nice on a cold night, my family enjoyed it. We came here as two families with a toddler and she loved it here too. They have kidsâ toys and books as well as board games for both kids and adults. The first night we were feeling very hot in the cabin due to the temperature set up higher than what we would like but owner quickly responded and fix the problem so the second night no issues at all. Owner is very responsive in terms of communication for whatever needs we had. The location of the cabin is perfect. Itâs about less than 10 min to the downtown South Lake Tahoe so convenient to go to restaurants, supermarkets, etc, but also quiet enough so we can enjoy the views. The view from outside of the window is super nice, we wake up looking over the snowy tree lines from the rooms and had all the privacy we needed.
This is a great home for families. Lots of TV's for different favorite shows or movies at night. The view from the deck is to die for ... The kitchen is beautifully updated and is very well organized with everything you will need. The bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable. Also the bathrooms are nice size. It was nice to have laundry on the first floor too. We loved the furniture and decorations. We enjoyed the hot tub a couple of times and the kids played ping pong on the table in the garage. The owners are very helpful with instructions for operating things and suggestions for the area. Very many hiking trails in the area and you just can't beat the view of the lake and the mountains.
The home was perfect for our stay. The entire home was prestine, well kept and equipped. We had our ak.ost one year old with us and forgot about the stairs, so we went out and got a small gate to keep her from going on them unsupervised - not until the last day did we discovered they actually have a gate in one of the bottom rooms.
They have cute games for the kids to play with.
The only down side was that the upstairs living room is smaller and less cozy, so to watch TV comfortably as a family of 8, we had to watch it downstairs, which means climbing the stairs multiple times to get to the kitchen etc. But honestly, not a big deal!
The other thing we wish was a little better was access to the backyard. The house had a sign to keep put (which if it's for safety reasons, I understand) but I would've been perfect to be able to take our infant just outside to play in the snow (in comparison to the house across the street, which had a big front yard for the kids to play in).
There weren't any snow toys when we got there, but we bought 3 sleds and 2 snowball making things and left them there for future guests to enjoy!
This house is perfect for a ski vacation. Close to Heavenly and not too far from kirkwood. Close to food, groceries etc. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen had what we needed to cook a few dinners. Hot tub was great after a day a skiing.
This home was perfect for our stay in the area. Home is even more beautiful and comfortable than the photos. Hosts were great to work with and communicated well. Raley's is a solid grocery store close to the home to stock up. After full days of exploring, our family enjoyed eating in, using the hot tub, and playing games around the big table. Our only meals out where lunch.
Beacon Grill and Freshies were two great meals.
Hikes - Eagle Falls is short and easy, but beautiful and the view of Emerald Bay is stellar. Fallen Leaf Lake is a quiet lake and more beaufiul views. Great for walking around a bit and swimming. Castle Rock Trail was some work and a great hike. We couldn't get to the top though due to falcons nesting. We did a boat ride out of Camp Richardson to Vikingsholm which I would recommend. It's a great way to be on Lake Tahoe. The Vikingsholm is very cool piece of area history and is well preserved. If you do the boat ride, you do have extra time in Emerald Bay to dip in the water, hike to lower Eagle Falls, or rent a kayak, so plan accordingly with shoes and/or bringing a suit and towel.
The casino and Heavenly gondolia area have lots of shops and places to eat. We enjoyed the quieter area to stay but it will worth it to check out that area for a couple of hours on afternoon and great spot to grab some tshirts.
Overall, we loved our stay in South Lake Tahoe and at Gus and Gail's home. Thank you!
This truly is a wonderful home. Gus and Gail have thought about everything. My 4 yr old grandson was completely blown away with all of the toys and games in the Den closet. Our 21 yr old daughter couldnât contain herself with the ability to use the Bluetooth for music both upstairs and downstairs. The whole experience was more like being invited into someoneâs home, than a VRBO. The views from either deck are breathtaking and we never closed the drapes ever. We are looking forward to our next stay in the following year.
