Well equipped, warm and cosy cottage. Loved the log burner on chilly nights. We had a relaxing holiday and coming back to the lovely cottage after a day out made for a fabulous holiday .
We enjoyed our stay and found it to be just pure quiet enjoyment. The barn had everything you will need for a wonderful holiday including a fireplace that gave some wonderful ambiance.
The barn is located close to Dornoch, which is a fantastic city to explore for golf, history, shopping and dining. You really feel that you are in the Highlands at this stay.
The Barn was clean and cosy it had everything that made our stay comfortable . Loved the peaceful quiet surroundings and the roads were great to get out and visit the many attractions . Great walks to the local forest and to the beach . We used the local shops and cafes which we highly recommend. We loved the walks on the beach and watching the seals in the sea . We will have a return visit .
Loved every minute. Off the beaten track. No WiFi, not much of a phone signal. Great to just get away from the hustle bustle of every day life. Could very easily live in this barn very happily, and would recommend to anybody wanting fo a relaxing getaway.
Quaint and quiet, ideal for the holiday where you just want to be away from it all.
I found my overall stay very pleasant. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, it was very relaxing to be in a quiet almost secluded area of the Scottish countryside. The barn itself was very lovely, quaint and cosy where it had most of the modern conveniences readily at hand. The only issue was that there was a lack of signal for our phones but in the grand scheme of things, it's not much to moan about. Only located a few miles from the town of dornoch itself, it's a quick drive to a lovely, friendly town with a lovely beach. I would definitely recommend another stay here.
Most people pass through this area, but they should stay as it has so much to offer - sandy beaches, hill and valley walks, rocky coasts, artisan goods (pottery, textiles, glass), excellent food, heritage, wildlife (seals, ospreys, marsh harriers, and so much more!)
There was a bit of confusion with the owners about which property we have actually booked, but that was all sorted ok. Could have done with better information about what was provided (e.g. no salt and pepper).
The Barn was wonderful in a nice remote locate which was what we were looking for. Lovely fireplace that was already prepared for the first fire was nice touch. Great place to sit at night and read or talk with a whiskey. Heaters on timers so a bit chilly in the morning but refreshing at the same time. The road leading to the Barn is a narrow road with many passing places and lots of farms, we did see quite a few "Hairy Heilan coos" on the way to the barn. Dornoch, Golspie and Tain are all very close and there is grocery store in Dornoch that had everything we needed. Inverness is only about 50 minutes away if you want tours (which we did to Isle of Skye on WOW tours) or larger scale shopping. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return if we are back in this area.
PS - Only minor issue was the noise from the bathroom which would make short blasts of noise at all hours, didn't really bother us but if you are a light sleeper just a heads up.
We really enjoyed the week in the small, rustic cottage. We were worried that it wouldn't get warm, but that was unfounded. I've been to many holiday homes, but this was by far the quaint and coziest house. We love it and really regretted only living in it for a week. Chamaine and her family are very helpful. Kind regards again and thanks for everything. The cottage is a bit remote, but that doesn't matter since we were out on the motorcycle every day anyway.
The barn is the most warm , welcoming ,comfy, cosy, place on the planet . Itâs like going home . Absolutely everything you could possibly need is there for you. It is clean, comfortable, so peaceful. If you need somewhere to relax and get away from everything then this is the place to be.
Charmain the caretaker is wonderful, she is always on hand and no problem is to big for her. She makes the cottage welcoming and she goes the extra mile to sort things out straight away, no messing.
Canât wait to return next year.
Thankyou for letting us stay.
This was a very quiet and peaceful location. The cottage was cosy and well equipt and the property caretaker was very helpful. Our children enjoyed staying in the mezzanine rooms upstairs and the wood burner made evenings comfortable and cosy.
Although very rural, the barn is only a short drive to everything you want to see. We went to Dornoch, Loch Ness and John O'Groats etc. The barn is very clean and has comfortable beds, a great shower, a good TV and plenty of kitchen essentials. We met the caretakers once and they were lovely.
Had a wonderful relaxing time at this property. Everything is as it is show in the pictures with some upgrades i.e bigger TV, Tassimo Machine. Very clean and cosy. Definitely home from home and would highly recommend if you are happy not having WiFi or phone signal which we where. If I had to mark it out of 10, I would mark it as a 9.75 due to their only being a fridge and not fridge freezer. We are looking on returning next year.
We had a great week at the property. In a beautiful location, remote enough to get away from everything, but only 10 mins from Dornoch with restaurants, shops and a beautiful beach. Itâs also close to distilleries and on the NC500.
Kitchen was well stocked and Charmagne was responsive and helpful with any issues.
There really is no WiFi or phone signal, so if you want to stay connected itâs not ideal. But was just what we wanted.
Absolutely stunning. This is our favourite place on the planet. The barn is so warm and cosy, the setting couldnât be any better. This is truly the most beautiful and relaxing place to stay.
There is absolutely everything you need .The caretaker is lovely, really helpful and always on hand if you need her.
I would recommend staying here to anyone that just wants a peaceful holiday away from everything.
Thankyou so much.
The property was originally bought by my parents as a holiday home in the late 60's , It didn't have electricity for many years so all our holidays were a great adventure spoting deer in the field at the front and catching baby salmon in the stream . Over the years the property has been renovated and at the end of 2011 was completely re done inside and out but kept its original character it even has a dish washer !
Rural , Quiet , Great cycling and walking from the front door . Good fishing in the area in Lochs and Rivers . Lots of Golfing in the area , Close to the coast and lots of place to see bird life , sandy beaches , seals and Dolphins .
