Amalfi coast apartment with stunning views.
Fantastic place to stay on the amalfi coast.
We were warmly recieved by the property owner, even though finding the appartment address isn't that easy, its well worth the search .
The position of the appartment is fantastic both in terms of its balcony views and the short distance to some of the nicest towns on the coast including Ravello, Amalfi and Minori.
All these towns are accessible by footpaths tucked into the hillside and for us the walk to Minori through the lemon groves was particularly memorable.
The only negatives were the hardish mattresses, and the steep steps to access the beach.
This is not the right place for you if you don't want to have to walk up and down steps , but at the same time its the position on a steep slope that gives such fantastic views... so you take your choice.
Overall the appartment was ideal for us , a family of 4 with older children, and we strongly recommend it.
Great, relaxing, private, open window fresh ocean air 24/7, breathe taking views LOTS of STEP
We are a couple in our 60's. Owner very available. We were in a rental car and drove from Naples airport. In retrospect we will take public transportation. Once there, you can park off side of narrow road but parking in any of the towns along coast is very expensive and hard to find. Our car sat most of the week while we took the bus and walked. There are many steep steps as you come and go from the apt but this is the Amalfi coast and you need to expect lots of steps to thoroughly enjoy what it has to offer. Apt one block to Bus stop. Using the bus is the way to travel, then maybe the ferry to other cities on the water. Owner has all bus and ferry schedules available. It's an experience of a lifetime and if given the opportunity we will definitely return to this beautiful, clean and quiet spot.
I just spent the last week visiting the Amalfi Coast with my best friend. We stayed at il Postino and loved it! Our hosts were fantastic and very helpful with any questions we had, helping us to navigate our way around. The apartment is clean and comfortable with a spectacular view! It's an easy and beautiful walk to Atrani and Amalfi. Would stay here again if I'm lucky enough to return to Italy!! Thank you Veilla for hosting us, it was a fantastic stay! Grazie! (from Jenny)
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!! This amazing apartment is clean and well-maintained with friendly owners.
My wife and I rented this wonderful apartment as a location to just relax for a week following a 2-week whirlwind tour of Italy--There couldn't have been a better place to do so. This great apartment is VERY clean and kept in a perfect state of repair. It is EXACTLY how you see it in the listing.
The apartment is located away from the hectic traffic of Strada Statale Amalfitana and is in a perfect location to visit Ravello, above, or Atrani/Amalfi, below. The grocery store is very convenient to get to and there's a place across the street that makes the most wonderful limoncello I've ever had. 50 yards up the street is a family winery that makes/sells delicious local wine.
It goes without saying that the view from the living room and bedroom balcony is absolutely stunning; We ate every meal on the balcony, watching the yachts come and go below. We stayed at the end of June and despite daily temperatures being in the high 80s/low 90s (fahrenheit), the apartment remained very comfortable, with cool breezes blowing through the apartment at night. We didn't find the bedroom air conditioner necessary, though it IS available.
The owners, Velia and Dino were very friendly and helpful. Velia brought us fresh local fruit (including lemons from the trees right below the balcony) and allowed us to get fresh basil from her garden for our evening meals. They were both readily available, should we have needed anything.
Although small by United States standards, the clothes washing machine was an indispensable asset, since we were spending our third week of a three week vacation here in the apartment, and we were grateful to have access to it. The kitchen is well-stocked with all the plates, glasses, pots/pans and utensils you would normally need.
WiFi (once we got it figured out) was strong through the apartment. You may have to reset the router to get it to work.
One thing to note (and this was absolutely NOT problematic for us) is that there are about 40 easy outdoor steps to go down from the street level to the apartment. Again, not a problem at all for most people, but anyone with an aversion to steps should know this ahead of time.
We are very pleased with this apartment--it's a terrific value in our opinion (you couldn't get a hotel this nice for the relatively small amount we spent for the apartment!) and we would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a relaxing week in one of the most beautiful locations in all of Italy.
Thank you for being our guests and to have spent time in writing this to help orientate future guests renting our beautiful home in Castiglione di Ravello
We look forward to welcoming you back soon in one of our properties
Il Postino affords wonderful views of the Amalfi coastline. In our opinion, the property has great potential, however the property description and details were misleading. The internet delivery was spotty; the kitchen capabilities were much less than expected; at times the property manager communicated in an unprofessional manner. We would not recommend this property unless major changes are made.
We have received report back from our local agent and owner.
Our local agent who is in Sorrento has never met you but did receive call and sms from you to which they have responded and issues solved.
Owner / keyholder maintains that since your arrival your attitude was abrupt and somehow rude - could be because of the travelling and stress in the driving on the Coast ? Owner has nevertheless let you stay overnight without you giving her the Euro 300 Breakage deposit - she felt threatened by you that you would not give her the Euro 300 breakage deposit unless the Wify was boosted .....Please be advised that Internet in that part of Italy is not fiber optic as it may well be in your Country, and therefore requires more towers and with power outages ( often due to storms, quite frequent during Spring ) requires re-booting. This issue was resolved the next day.,
ENEL - Local electricity board is upgrading their lines and all residents on the Amalfi Coast have been advised of lower power factor and potential random power cuts, this is reason you were asked not to use all appliances together.
Although owner spent over 2 hours when you arrived explaining how the stove works, how to make the Italian espresso coffee, how to work the washing machine ( where to put the soap.. ) every issue was sorted out immediately including requests for more utensils, like extra pots, the barbecue, ( the microwave was an error on the website, now corrected), owner is sorry that has not been able to help you enjoy your stay. As for her attitude or ''unprofessional manner'', we have been working with IL POSTINO apartments for the past 20 years and never had a complaint on the owner's attitude, cleaning and, maintenance. Of course when renting a house there can be issues out of our control such as toilet flush not working properly or bulb blown, or missing utensils but both the owner who lives above IL POSTINO and our local agent, have always been able to sort these out within the 24 hours. I am sorry that you felt that the owner had ''unprofessional manner'', I believe that she has been misunderstood, due to her poor English and the Italian way of speaking whilst gesticulating.
Your review to this property is entirely unfair and believe this due to our rejecting your request for 20% refund on rental which is really low during this time of year.
