We stayed here over the July 4 week, it was perfect: a nice little beach for families within walking distance, wonderful pool (where my son had a blast with a new friend) all while still being close to the beaches Falmouth is famous for. The property is well kept and the fenced in yard was perfect for the dog and to allow us all quality time to enjoy the week. Wendy was great, responsive and made it easy for us to enjoy our time off. Would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a true Cape-cation!
Dirty, very dated. Many many bugs. We left early because of the relentless bugs. ( Mostly earwigs ants and spiders. But if you beetles that I hope were *just* beetles.
Pictures were definitely taken long ago. When I reached out the owner apologized but acted like she had no idea. Upon doing some deeper digging in more reviews it doesnât seem like a new issue. From now on, I will thoroughly research before I book a place.
Usually I begin with the positives of my location, however, I want to be clear up front if you are considering this property. We arrived at 1:00 a.m. The key was in the lockbox as described, however the porch light was burned out so it was difficult to access it in the dark. After finding the bedrooms, we discovered that although the comforters had been pulled up, all of the beds were unmade. There were sheets left out for us to make the beds ourselves, but one of the queen beds had been left twin sheets. We located more sheets after digging through some messy/disorganized closets. The next morning we discovered the reason--apparently people who rent this property are expected to get up early on the day of check out and wash, dry and fold all the bedding they used. An "extra hour" is given to complete this process. Since our flight was out of Boston the morning we checked out, we would have had to been up and doing laundry by 4:00 a.m. in order to complete the task. Additionally, we were expected to complete most of the cleaning tasks such as vacuuming the rooms, sweeping the floors, etc. I do not mind cleaning up after myself when I stay in a VRBO, and I generally try to leave the place better than I found it, but if I had to guess, I would say the hosts are pocketing the cleaning fee and requesting the guests do all the cleaning. That being said, if you are looking for a house in the cape for a family gathering, this layout and location are wonderful.
The house was charming and clean. The back yard was great for the dog, although we only got to really enjoy it on the last day as it rained every day we were there. It was a nice quiet neighborhood and the beach was just a minutes walk from the house.
Cute house and good location. Plenty of space. However, i did not expect to clean up after someone else's pet...apparently they rented prior to us.
Food was left in frige, and clothing left in drawers. I left what was not mine when checking out. I also did not expect to put their garbage out, water flowers or wash all the bedding and towels...i thought the people hired to clean, would have done this. I understand wiping counters down and sweeping up as well as making sure the garbage is in the bins outside or at the curb.. However doing the laundry made it hard to get out the door by 11 am.
Upon arrival, there were 2 full garbage cans we had to make sure was picked up on a Tuesday, leaving us with overflowing garbage for 2 days.
Additionally the yard was overgrown and not as pictured. The photos also lead me to believe the kayaks were on the beach. They were in the basement and we did not feel comfortable trying to move them out and never used them.
As others have mentioned it's not the most up-to-date house. But that being said it was immaculate very cozy the beds were comfortable the linens were comfortable there were plenty of towels. Location cannot be beat the clubhouse was awesome and a little beach was a lot of fun. We will definitely stay here again the owners were very responsive and we had a wonderful time
House was comfortable and well cared for. Small things need fixing: the handle on the toaster oven, the closet doors in the downstairs bedroom, the handle on the dresser drawer in the second bedroom upstairs. Kitchen could use a few more wine glasses (we only found one), but these are small issues: all was fine. Neighborhood was nice for dog-walking. The only down is that it is a long drive on 28 to get to town, but that's nothing that can be changed!
The landlords are great and very responsive
The house is very comfortable and in a nice quiet neighborhood. You can walk to the neighborhood beach. Itâs small but perfect for young children or if you just want to sit in the sun. The bigger beaches are a few miles away by car but easy to get to
This was not a good value off season given the steep price tag, we expected a place that was was clean and taken care of.
-carpets and floors were dirty
-guests responsible for putting sheets on beds
-blankets had dead spiders
-propane for grill was empty
-lightbulbs needed to be replaced
-smoke detector battery needed to be replaced
-front stairs covered in slippery wet leaves
-would not stay here again and left a day early
We spent two weeks here and had a very relaxing wonderful vacation. The house was in a quiet neighborhood with quick walk to inlet and beautiful views. Stocked with everything you could want... kayaks, bikes, cooking equipment, etc. Short drive to beaches. Fenced in yard for dog who happily spent afternoons under the back deck while we explored or went beaching. We didn't want to leave.
Enjoyed our stay. Wendy was attentive to any issue we had. Very quiet neighborhood.
Our dog thoroughly enjoyed lounging around and going into town with us and his first trip to the beach.
On the positive side: Cute house and nice yard and plantings. Quiet neighborhood even in August. Window air conditioners kept the house cool. But: Not clean throughout. Mold in bathroom. Many things need repairs like bicycles, faucet, toaster oven, Keurig, water pressure, icemaker dispenser, Mismatch of plates and glasses, need more. Large pine tree in driveway left sap all over cars. Was swayed by previous good ratings from 1+ year back and low inventory of other properties. Would not stay here again.
This property needs many updates. The kitchen faucet was barely functioning, and we had to use the sprayer in order to have enough pressure to wash dishes. You could not use the washer and dryer at the same time. Many of the outlet plugs did not work. The microwave was melted on the bottom of the unit from a previous guest. The deck was green with mold, and the slider door was so difficult and hard to close that we had to have the men close it. If I was this owner, I would hire a new cleaning person...under the couch and beds were filthy with dust and things that had fallen from previous folks who had stayed. There was also an infestation of baby spiders on the ceiling in the downstairs bedroom and bathroom. Gross!
The 5 minute walk to the "beach" (river) was perfect for toddlers, but not for adults. The place was certainly big enough for 6 adults, and a toddler which was nice but this property needs some serious TLC. One positive thing was there was toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags and all of the essential items that you would need and did not have to go out and buy. That was nice.
We had to leave a "cleaning fee" but were expected to vacuum and clean up before we left the place. What was the cleaning fee for then? I think we left this property cleaner than we found it. I'm just trying to be honest about this property because it was very expensive to rent for a week, and you do not get what is advertised in the description. I expected much more than what I received.
Comfortable, well equipped house near association beach
This property served as a great base for our family of adults and a toddler. The living areas were spacious, beds were comfortable and while some of the furniture and appliances showed some wear with age, everything worked as expected. The bikes and kayaks, nearby association river beach and use of the heated clubhouse pool were pluses. Owners were helpful and quick to respond to questions.
What a great place to stay. The house was exactly as described with the added bonus of an enclosed shower. The house was exceptionally well appointed. The furniture was very comfortable. We took advantage of the two kayaks available. Having towels, sheets, and beach towels available was a huge plus.
The location was fantastic. The neighborhood is a peninsula with easy access to a kid friendly beach on Eal Pond (which is not a pond in the traditional sense). There are plenty of places to eat either in Mashpee or downtown Falmouth village.
We enjoyed a trip on the Schooner Liberte. We also took the Island Queen to Marthaâs Vineyard, only 35 minutes away. A rainy day is a good excuse to drive to Sandwich for the Glass Museum and the Heritage Museumâboth worth the drive.
All in all, the house was perfect, clean, and comfortable for our weeklong trip. We hope to come back again. The owner Wendy was helpful and responsive, though we had no problems at all with the house.
Great time for the while family. We used the kayaks several days, walked to the local beach where kids could swim and enjoyed Mashpee Commons on the one rainy day. The owner is incredibly accommodating and responsive. We all hope to return!
We had family in from Arizona for their first time on the Cape, this was a great location for us, spent a few days at Menauhant Beach and took at day trip to Martha's Vineyard on the Island Queen out of Falmouth. House was perfect for the kids and our dog.
Enjoyed our stay in this quiet neighborhood. Was a good central place for beaches and little shops. (6A was an enjoyable drive.) We even drove about 45 minutes to the train and were able to take that an hour to Boston. Dog enjoyed herself too!
