Lovely little cottage! The bed was comfy, and it was very clean and quiet! The only suggestion I would have is to have more lighting, and brighter lights throughout. My eyesight isnât the best, and I struggled a bit with it being so dim. Other than that, we enjoyed your little cottage!
We were struggling to find a nice reasonably priced hotel to stay at in East Troy. I checked into vrbo and found this cute little cottage nesteled in the farmland of the East Troy area. We stayed the day after the 4th and it was decorated with a patriotic theme for the 4th of July holiday. It was just what we needed.
Started out good till we heard mice in the ceiling âŠ
Maryann (the host) was originally very helpful and responsive when booking. We arrived, check in was easy, very cute cottage on a farm. We unpacked, then heard rustling in the bedroom ceiling. Thought maybe it was birds on the roof. Went out to see, no birds. It was mice. Began to look around cottage, found mice poo behind the bedroom chair, mouse bait, rodent detractor plug ins, cotton stuffed in holes along the baseboards, mouse poo and pee in the dresser drawers. It was not going to work for us. We messaged Maryann through the VRBO app about the issue. We then called and left her a vmail. We said we were leaving and wanted a full refund. We also called VRBO. I did receive a communication from Maryann through the VRBO system. No apology, just that she refunded the money she was paid through VRBO. VRBO refunded their portion. Now we have to get the taxes back. VRBO said itâs the hosts responsibility to pay us. Still waiting on the refund. It was a huge inconvenience to scramble and find something last minute, especially with two small dogs.
Sandhill cranes chit-chit-chitting to each other in the early morning, crickets singing in the evenning, traffic one car an hour when it's busy, and skylights, not an alarm, telling you when it's morning. A charming cottage in the country.
