This is our second time staying here and we will be back. Great location, Accommodates a big group nicely. Comfy beds and great spaces to hangout to play games. Owner very responsive.
Carter Cottage was a great place for our family to vacation. There was a fenced in yard for our dogs. The lakefront is beautiful. The cottage is close to town. Itâs a comfortable, homey spot. The owners were wonderful and accommodating.
Carter Cottage has become an annual tradition for us! The property is gorgeous, the lake frontage and fenced yard are amazing and the house is so charming and comfortable. Plus, the hosts are very friendly and helpful. Canât ask for more!
It was our second summer at the Carter House and we plan to come again. Itâs a great property, beautiful view, so peaceful. Great for the dogs with fenced yard.
We enjoyed the Carter Cottage very much. Itâs on a great piece of land with direct access to the lake. The home is equipped with everything you need and has plenty of common area seating for a large group. The very large screened porch was wonderful for morning coffee or evening cocktails. It was very warm during our stay and the second floor did not cool very much - it was significantly warmer than the first floor with A/C turned on. The kitchen is dated with original cabinets, etc., but everything worked well and we were comfortable there with our group of 15. Thank you!
We love this property! The lake view is stunning, the property is gorgeous, the house is charming and the hosts are exceptional. Each year we stay a little longer and weâre already looking forward to next year!
Carter Cottage was the perfect place for our vacation with our kids and grandkids. The house had plenty of room and was cozy at the same time. There was an amazing view of the lake from inside the house or out. The spacious fenced in back yard was a great area for our grandkids to play.
We had a great time with extended family at the Carter Cottage! All communications were simple and timely. The large backyard is perfect for yard games and kids. Our favorite room in the house by far was the back multi season room! We hope to return next year!
Property was perfect for us! Had Family come in from Ohio & Florida to meet up with us here in Wisconsin. Ages ranged from 3-79. Communication with property owners was fantastic with quick responses. The property has been in the owner's family for 4 generations, a true Wisconsin Lake Cottage that the Family can sit and talk, play games or find a spot to sit and read a book.
This was a great house for a family getaway weekend at the lake. The house is quite a bit older than it looks and the kitchen is fairly small and difficult to cook bigger meals. The yard is great for getting outside and the dock for swimming. However, there is no good place for dogs to enter the lake and swim at this property.
Carter's Cottage did not disappoint! The house was very clean. We enjoyed the screened in porch throughout our stay. We also enjoyed the patio with comfortable Adirondack chairs, light breezes and beautiful lake views.
It's conveniently located 5 minutes from town and a few more to the grocery store. The lake temp was gorgeous this year and much fun was had wake boarding and water skiing.
The owner was very communicative and all was as described on the VRBO website.
We were a group of 6 (at most) and the house easily accommodated us.
A great choice for a fun lake vacation.
The property was clean and welcoming! Each bed had clean towels and the bathrooms had soap, shampoo and conditioner which was so nice! The bathroom also had a nice blow dryer! The fire pit was beautiful next to the lake with wood already chopped for our use! The hosts responded quickly to any questions I had before we arrived. I never needed to message them during our stay because everything was perfect! Our adult children even pulled our their games and puzzles and we had an ongoing puzzle and game night! We don't get to spend intentional time with our adult children too often so this week is very important to us and this house did not disappoint. I had messaged our host, David, prior to arriving asking for restaurant options. We ended up going to Chops in town. The food and service were amazing! It was our one night out and everyone loved it! We did end up renting a pontoon boat for a day and that was super fun as well! We were even able to drop off our daughter-in-law and granddaughter so she could take her afternoon nap and we were back boating in 2 minutes! Very easy! We found Reilly's Pub and docked for ice cream and quick appetizers we could take on the boat! Such a fun day! We loved this house and will cherish our memories here! Thank you so much, David!!
We stayed at this property in late August 2022 with our 3 grown children, their spouses/significant others, and 2 grandchildren, a total of 10 of us. This house is just as advertised and a beautiful property. We always worry that the pictures are out-of-date, but these pictures were current and accurate. This is a large house with plenty of room for a group our size. There is a large living area and a large screened in porch. We spent most of our time either outside or on the porch. The bedrooms are a good size with two that are each large enough for a small family. The bathrooms are updated and clean. The kitchen was functional, but this was the one room that could use some updates.
We loved the lake frontage and the beautiful views of the lake from the house. There is a long pier with a boat lift where you can park your boat (during the day) or spend time gazing at the lake or the sunset. There is a wonderful bench at the end of the pier where we had our morning coffee every day. Other than the pier, the lake frontage is really not usable. The rest is covered with plantings and rocks, and you really can't get close to the water from there.
We had a boat on a trailer and this property has a large driveway with an upper circle and a lower circle closer to the house. I would stick to the upper circle with the boat as the lower circle is very steep and maybe not wide enough make the corner without driving in the grass.
We had one small issue while we were there and the owner responded immediately to our text.
This property is also very close to the town of Green Lake. We ate at Christianos Pizza one night and made frequent trips to town for groceries or ice cream.
Overall, we loved this house and property and have already booked our time for next year!
After many years my brother hosted a family reunion (not on this property) and some of us now out-of-state folks stayed at Carter Cottage. I grew up using Green Lake and the property was reminiscent of cottages rented many years ago. It was so nostalgic!
Yes itâs an old house but it is very roomy and livable. The entire downstairs is spacious living areas with a magnificent screened porch with terrific views. The kitchen is small and dated but we found it quite efficient including the outside grill. The upstairs has the 4 bedrooms and all are a nice size.
The property itself is beautiful and secluded from its neighbors. It is original and I feel unspoiled. Sitting outside in the mornings with coffee or afternoons with cocktails was divine. The yard is fenced and the dogs loved it. The boat dock served well as other family members dropped by for a visit.
I absolutely plan to stay there again!
This lakefront property is just gorgeous! Lovely cottage with lots of character. The home and property are very well maintained and the landscaping is charming. The herb garden outside the kitchen door was such a nice surprise. Huge fenced in yard that slopes gently down to the lake - fantastic view and perfect for dogs! We all had a wonderful time and would happily come again.
From the first moment we saw this house we were in love. The photos on the listing are accurate, but they do not capture how wonderful this space is. We had 8 adults sleeping there and there was plenty of room. The wood plank floors, high ceilings, darling kitchen, wrap around enclosed/screened in porch, everything was beyond our expectations.
The first night there we had a terrible storm and lost power. Abby was immediately responsive and let me know any updates she received. We discovered the next morning that a large tree had fallen onto the driveway, and within 30 minutes of notifying the owners it was gone!
We had family/friends from nearby visit and everyone was happy to see us, but gushed over what a great vacation location we had. 10/10 would recommend!
Where do I start? This annual family trip to a lake home did not disappoint. Upon approach, we were happy to find plenty of parking and a double circular drive, so towing our boats in and out was easy. We loved the living area. The living room flows into the dining room, which has French doors going onto both wings of the HUGE porch. LOTS of seating is in every space. Though small, the kitchen was very workable, with a door going out onto the side patio for grilling on the gas grill. The upstairs bedrooms, along with the two bathrooms, were a perfect setup for our group of 11 (3 couples, 5 kids). For three of the four days we were there, we opened the windows on the porch and the rest of the house. The breeze going through was dreamy! When we needed a bit of quiet from the 3 teenagers and 2 pre-teens, we simply closed the porch doors. A lot of the time we sat out on the back patio in the six Adirondack chairs overlooking the lake. The fenced in yard was awesome for our dog. She loved roaming around and chasing chipmunks. The pier with a long bench was great. The kids loved fishing and swimming off of it. The water was very clean, too. The boat lift was such a great perk! We also enjoyed a wonderful fire in the pit by the water. There was lots of wood provided. The woods around the property were beautiful and the area was very quiet. The owners were quick to respond and very friendly. If you want a relaxing place to refresh yourself, this is your lake home!
Our family enjoyed meals and games in the beautiful lakefront yard. The screened porch and family/dining rooms had great lake views and nice furniture so all felt at home.
Wonderful spot to spend a week at the lake. Quiet neighborhood, beautiful vistas of the lake from the back lawn. Sat most mornings on back lawn to have coffee and enjoy the solitude and beauty. Took walks along the lush tree lined street in front of the house. Swam and fished off the dock. Just so much natural beauty to enjoy.
House had all the necessities. Nicely upgraded bathrooms, small but functional kitchen, large sitting areas including a big screened porch for game playing or serving meals.
The hosts are very accommodating and responsive. A joy to work with. Would stay here again in a heart-beat!
