We didnât spend a ton of time at the cabin. We were exploring the Valles caldera. The cabin worked great for our purpose. It was clean and a great place to stay with a beautiful view.
Absolutely loved staying at this place! The views from the deck where amazing! Such a peaceful location. Comfy and cozy inside the cabin with everything you need. Great location! Just a fun bumpy road down to Amanda's store to get supplies or snacks! Highly recommend staying here! Definitely need a capable vehicle to get up to the cabin. But hey, they're the funnest roads to drive on!
This had a nice view off the deck even though it is tucked into a sheltered area. The area is not great for young kids to go wandering but has a fantastic deck, good amenities and nice hosts. The road as of Oct. 1, 2023 has several rough areas due to summer washouts so donât expect to get to the house in a low slung sports car right now. Bring your drinking water if youâre picky. Great location for hikers!
When we first found this place, we were truly excited because we are 'outdoor people' who like to hike, kayak, off-road and just appreciate nature. We love being able to get away and recharge our batteries in nature and just have a very different type of experience than our routine day to day responsibilities.
It has a rustic, rugged beauty and is off the beaten path, but readily accessible by SUV or truck. The quietude is truly restorative and the canyon views amazing. It's comfy and inviting - without being stuffy and pretentious. The accessibility to area natural sites can't be beat! And, great dining in either Jemez Springs or Los Alamos is wonderful. We are a short hop to Fenton Lake and enjoy taking our kayaks, hiking or just hanging out. Treats at Amanda's General Store are fun for all of us - it has an 'old timey' feel to it and has anything else we might need.
Close to mostly nothing - except spectacular canyon views, mountains, Fenton Lake, Valle Caldera, Soda Dam, Battleship Rock and much, much more. The charming village of Jemez Springs offers restaurant food, hot springs and wonderful local shopping for native artisan crafts.
