Very much appreciated all the help and recommendations given by property owner. Enjoyed a quiet weekend in the mountain, home was centrally located for apple picking , eating out and our hikes at chimney rock.
Nice cozy cottage at Lake Lure. Enjoyed canoeing, hiking, and biking in the area. It is also pet friendly which is a plus for me since I love to bring my dog along on outdoor adventures.
We had the pleasure of staying this past week. From the moment you walk in the front door you just feel at home. Barbara and Byron were more than accommodating and just genuinely good people. We would rent from them again anytime!
This VRBO is perfect for a couple to getaway. The ski bar is adorable and there are plenty of floats and kayaks to use at the boat house. The unit is well stocked and super cute, eclectic fun!
Great spot on the lake with a pontoon available and the best of hosts! Will definetly be back as well as booking with them with their other properties. Great communication, very respectful, and perfectly reasonable. Couldnt ask for better!
Great little spot to get away and relax. The owners were very nice and answered any questions my wife and I had on the area. We really enjoyed sitting down at the bar reading in the morning and having drinks at night. The property was very clean, well maintained and had everything. We would absolutely recommend it.
Byron and Barbara were absolutely amazing. They were so nice and accommodating with our late check in and even had a special gift waiting for us since we were there for my girlfriendâs birthday. Everything about the house and our experience was amazing! Will be back again and recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet retreat. Thank you so much!
We had a wonderful week! Celebrated our 5th Anniversary! We come to the mountains very often but this trip was exceptional. The weather was perfect. The food was great. And this cabin was just right. Had everything we needed. The ski bar was great. Enjoyed a couple of meals down there. So cozy at night with all the colorful lights on. Just perfect!!
Fun small cottage across the street from lake Lure (you do have to cross a quite street to get to the steps to the lake). Along the way down the steps there are landings decorated in a creative bar theme. Pontoon boat (we didnât rent) takes up the narrow water front. Wonderful area.
We had an absolute blast here this weekend!! The property is so beautiful and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The "road" you're on is super quiet, maybe 6 cars total went by all weekend! There are ao many places you can sit and enoy the lake view.
Thank you so much Byron and family for creating such a lovely getaway! The pictures dont even do this place justice! They supplied everything we needed for the weekend which was super convenient. We will definitely use Lakedog Properties again in the future!
Husband and I went to spend a few days away for our 34th Anniversary and his birthday. Cottage was quite charming and the lake was absolutely beautiful. Use of all the floats and water toys was an added bonus. Bryon and his mother, Barbara were friendly and accommodating. With all the craziness presently going on, I can honestly say it was the first time in awhile we felt relaxed. Looking forward to returning!
The Marsh house was just what we needed! Two large bunk beds, cozy kitchen equipped with all the tools and appliances plus a cute bathroom with a great shower! Best part was that our dogs could stay with us! It rained one of days but the house had Netflix so we just chilled with some movies. The roads to get to the house are pretty narrow and there wasnât a lot of street lights --just go slow! Thatâs lake life!
We enjoyed our first visit to Lake Lure. The cabin was cozy. Unfortunately I truly didnât pay attention to the info about the steps. My fault. I think my husband and I will have to stay in a place with fewer steps next visit, as we are getting older now. Byron and Barbara were excellent hosts though and we really appreciated being able to bring our dog.
We booked this stay last minute and Byron was very communicative to ensure our stay met our expectations. The stay itself was very comfortable with eclectic decor that we loved. It fit our little family well and felt quite homey. The listing is accurate in showing the property. They had everything you needed + more, aside from food (obviously). We spoke to his mother several times nearby and she was a very kind woman who gave as recommendations for local places to stop by/visit. She also directed us to lake access nearby since we were not able to rent their boat. We look forward to coming back soon!
You will NOT be disappointed! This home not only is super charming but has a history of how it came to be. They made sure we had everything we needed. Great communication from Byron! The queen bunk beds are very comfortable and the kids loves them! We enjoyed fishing, kayaking, paddle boating and jumping off of the back of the pontoon that was provided. We met some neighbors and they were very friendly. The ski bar is great! You can stay shaded while everyone is at the dock. Personally my favorite part was the hospitality that Barb showed us. I really enjoyed her company seeing as I was the only female in our group. This has been my favorite family trip so far! With my upmost gratitude to Byron and Barb; we thank you and can't wait to return.
We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. The house exceeded our expectations. Byron and Barbara were the kindest hosts we have ever had. Their communication with us was immediate and helpful. This little house is quirky and comfy and was stocked with the comforts of home. There are steps that go down to the ski bar, but what house in Lake Lure doesn't? Pretty much no house at the lake. What a lovely and sweet place this is. It provided the much rest and relaxation needed as well as let us get a glimpse into lake life. The boat rental was so much fun and not to mention beautiful. WOW. What a beautiful slice of North Carolina. Many many many thanks and we will be back!
Hello all, I am a true Lake Lure and Asheville native. My family has been on the lake for over 50 years and we still own one of our original lakeside homes. I am also happy to call Asheville NC home for over 30 years, where I was able to spend most of my free time in the outdoors. From Asheville, I moved away for college and attended UNCC, go FORTY NINERS! After college and some nine to five jobs I finally became my own boss and launched a property management/real estate business. With the business operating since 2015 we have been successful in providing people with lifelong vacation experiences as well as providing longterm housing. While in my thirties I still find as much time to as possible to be outside and surrounded by water.
Nestled in the quiet setting within Lake Lures shoreline sits this quaint cottage. Our family purchased the property in 1985. The property has two houses on the land. The cottage first served as a boat storage facility while my parents ran the local marina in town. We then converted it to a man cave and then finally the cottage it is today, a unique tiny home! We maximized the small interior space by providing queen-size bunk beds, to accommodate four people. The bathroom has a larger feeling with its oversized walk in tiled shower. In the living room we have a pull out couch to accommodate one or two extra people.
The house is situated back in a peaceful cove and is located right off of Havnaers Point Circle. It has wonderful outdoor areas to relax and enjoy mother nature but also great areas for family time too!
The house is in close vicinity to Buffalo Creek Trailhead/Park, Legends Restaurant, Larkins Restaurant and 15 miles to town center.
This property gives you the ability to take in all the treasures that Lake Lure provides without breaking your wallet!
Come visit a cottage that has history but as well as unique setting. The cottage has easy access from parking to house with no stairs. The outdoor areas you will find yourself surrounded by mountain views and of the lake as well.
Half way down the stairs you land at the "Ski Bar". The ski bar has a large wood slab bar as well as antiques, neon lights, and views! You can easily sit six to eight people at the ski bar and escape from the sun or weather. Most of the locals know of our property from this unique feature, come see why!
Once you have regained your legs you can make it down to the waters edge for a relaxing swim in the lake. We provide a water floats, canoe and paddleboat to explore the cove and lake with. This lower area has a boathouse, and a long dock where the water is over 15 ft deep, great place for a dive into the lake.
