Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent property with all you need for self catering. Would definitely stay again.
Also highly recommend the the food from the Rock Inn next door
My family of four stayed in the cottage for Easter week. It is a lovely cottage, with a beautiful comfortable front room with a fireplace and dining room, a well appointed kitchen and breakfast nook and nice sized bedrooms. The master bedroom is particularly large and comfortable. The owners were very helpful and friendly, and it is nice to be next door to the inn - which we visited on our last evening for a superb dinner. It is well situated in the moors, and in spite of the rain we saw many lovely churches and villages. I would highly recommend the cottage -- 5 out of 5.
Well equipped property, furnished to a very good standard,
excellent location (peaceful) with walks from the front door. We used the Rock Inn next door for our evening meals. The service from Sue and her staff was first class and all the food was beautiful. We would not hesitate to stay here again
Thank you all, from all of us.
Our third visit here, this time for a family New Year get together. Very spacious and well equipped house. Fantastic walks from the door straight onto the Moor. Superb service and food as ever from The Rock Inn (next door but never noisy).
The cottage is a lovely place to stay for families or a romantic break. Has all the facilities you need, including a washing machine which isn't listed on the website. Kitchen is fully stocked with all the utensils you need for some home cooking and the cupboards came with some dry food to get you started along with some dishwasher and washing machine tablets. The cottage itself is really spacious and the garden on the other side of the road is very pretty. The moors are a short walking distance away and the Rock Inn pub/restaurant serves delicious meals and has a good selection of wines etc. The fireplace is great and the owners will give you a basket of logs and any top ups if you ask for more. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we will be returning soon, highly recommended.
The house was well equipped with everything you could need. As the owners are located next door in the pub, any queries could be answered immediately and the staff were incredibly helpful. The house was very roomy and absorbed three generations with no problems. The garden across the road occupied my grandchildren adequately when necessary. The location close to Haytor Rocks is beautiful. Ate one night in the pub and I can highly recommend the food as an added bonus to staying here.
We had such a lovely family holiday, thanks so much!
Fantastic cottage, everything that we needed for a family stay!

Just what we wanted
Comfortable and charming and next door to the excellent Rock Inn. There was plenty of space for our multi-generation group of 7 adults. Walking distance to the moor at Haytor. Well-equipped for cooking & eating when we could resist the lure of the Rock. And very comfy beds after those long walks. Ideal for our very active group.
(The bedroom with 2 single beds has low beams but there was only one bumped head....)
This very comfortable cottage proved an excellent base for our holiday in Devon, providing easy access to Dartmoor and to the south Devon coast. There was ample room for the six of us and the cottage was well equipped, especially in the kitchen. With the Rock Inn next door it would have been churlish not to eat there at least once and we were highly delighted with the welcome for us and our dog and for the quality of the food.
Well appointed, beautifully clean cottage with all you could need to be home from home!
The weather was unfortunately not too kind so we were unable to make use of the private garden but South Devon and Dartmoor has much to offer and we enjoyed an all too short break. Eating in the restaurant at the Rock kept domestic chores to the minimum.
We stayed here as a family, 5 of us altogether. The cottage was ample big enough for us, very tastefully decorated throughout, a lovely open fire in the lounge and a lovely sunny breakfast room, the master bedroom is huge and had lovely views over the garden !
Location is stunning just inside the national park, the cottage is next door to The Rock Inn which is a wonderful place to dine it just call in for a drink

The Graves family have owned and run The Rock Inn which is next door to Early Mist Cottage for 30 years. During that time the Inn's reputation for the quality of its food and accommodation has been the key to its success and longevity. Now having acquired Early Mist Cottage the same high standards have been passed on.
This beautiful cottage next door to the Inn has long been admired by the Graves family. Having known the previous owners for over 25 years and them being very good customers of The Rock Inn it was only natural that when the opportunity arose to acquire the cottage it was taken without hesitation.
The cottage is built using Dartmoor granite which gives it a unique 'old world' feel which is hard to describe or replicate. The beautiful fire place and uneven walls are testament to its heritage. The beautiful and spacious garden across the road and the short walk to entire Dartmoor wilderness adds to a cottage which is truly special.
