Quaint old fashioned cabin with limitations
We had a nice time staying in this lovely little place right on the water over July 4th weekend. It was very peaceful and the view couldnât be beat. There was a near constant breeze so we were very comfortable and really got to enjoy the deck and porch. The only disappointment was learning that the float had been taken out of the water and there are no plans to return it to the water which meant there is no way to safely get in the water to swim (the large rocks on the waterâs edge were covered in seaweed). We really wish the listing had been updated because the float was a big part of why we chose this place, and accepted high holiday rates as well. Another warning for future renters - the electricity in the cabin is quite limited. Each room has a single bulb in the ceiling with a pull chain. There arenât outlets in the bedrooms, only extension cords running from the ceiling light. So if you want to have a fan running (or your phone charging) overnight, you need to leave the light fixture on and unscrew the bulb. The last thing Iâll mention is the need to be very conservative with water. The cabinâs water comes from a small well that is shared with the ownerâs property. The owners asked that we be very frugal with water (not to flush all that often and thereâs a tub in the sink to wash dishes in so you donât waste water). It wasnât a big deal but something to take note of if you plan on doing a lot of hikes (like we did and thoroughly enjoyed) and want to shower everyday.
