This was a great location for us to stay! We were able to find many day hikes throughout the Helena and Lewis & Clark National Forest areas. We hiked over 50 miles in 6 days with our furry dogs. The host were extremely accommodating.
The location of this house was by far the best part. Amazing views and feels very secluded. The house is basic and off the grid but has everything you need and beds were comfortable. Host was helpful and responsive.
Itâs an incredible setting, with unparalleled views. Cabin is adorable, with every amenity you need, including filtered water. We would come back in a heartbeat.
We stayed at a high mountain cabin with great views. The cabin was off the grid but provided all the essential needs for a comfortable stay . The water pressure for showers was low and the refrigerator was very small but the evening sunsets clearly made up for this inconvenience.
Our family loves the beautiful Cascade area. The house was located up the back mountains for a beautiful 360 mountian view with all the comforts of home. Home was clean and well stocked. Thank you!!
We loved our stay in this mountain cabin. The views of the valley and surrounding mountains were beautiful. We enjoyed the loop hike on the neighborhood roads with our pup every morning. We ate in every evening, and the grill worked perfectly. Even figured out how to use the French Press for coffee!! Yea us! The gravel road (last 2.5 miles) was in good shape, and the directions to the cabin were excellent. Tony and Mike were extremely responsive and helpful. A great stay to start off our adventure in MT.
We have been staying in the Cascade area in September for the last 8 years. Needless to say we love fly fishing. This was our first summer to be on top of the mountain and off grid. It was never a problem. We loved the wood burning heater when it was cold enough. The views here are remarkable. We took several walks, read, relaxed and fished. Upon arrival, Step and Mike greeted us with fresh eggs and even brought
fresh tomatoes. It was perfectly wonderful!
Amazing property, great communication, and hosts bent over backwards to provide FireTruck Farms Soap to us. They even shipped back an item we forgot in our cabin. Amazing!!!
The view was one of the best we've ever had. That alone almost made me not leave this review.
The kitchen however was dirty. Let's just say I washed dishes before I used them just to make sure. I realize this is off-grid but that is no reason to have such a dirty kitchen especially when you pay so much for a cleaning fee. If you check out at 11 and people don't come in until 4 there is plenty of time to have for one example a clean stove top. Basically it looks like they leave it up to guests to clean or something. The refrigerator was dirty, there was food left over from who knows when.
You are told to take a 5 minute shower which turns out not to be that bad. The bathroom was clean, we were given one towel each and no rug. The floor is slippery.
Again, the view alone is worth the trip. You do feel like you are on top of the world.
Speaking of the trip the road is steep and bumpy. We have a Jeep so no problem. I think during the dry days any car can make it.
The directions were over the top with too much information. We got a bit confused with all the "don't go this way" stuff. We ended up in a neighbor's driveway who was so nice to us. (Steve he said his name was)
I would go again if they cleaned the kitchen better. The beds were ok. I think we may have just been so tired we could have slept anywhere. The place was relaxing, nice to sit on the deck. I would pick some place else for our next visit to the area. We travel a lot so we know a place doesn't have to be dirty no matter where it is. Oh and bring a coffee pot unless you like a French Press.
We staying at FireTruck Farms while on a fishing trip to the Missouri. The location.. about 20 minutes from Craig was perfect for our purpose. The roads up to the location we in great condition for dirt roads. And the second time up felt more like going home that the first... but well worth it every time. The views are beyond words, the property super clean and had everything we needed for a 2 night stay. The hosts are really sweet and welcoming. It was truly a wonderful stay and we look forward to going back.
This place was great! Very clean and well maintained. The views of the belts from up there are unmatched. You can even catch a small glimpse of the Missouri from the deck.
The road up to the house might be intimidating if youâre not used to mountain roads, but it is in great shape and the directions are spot on. We even pulled our drift boat up there with no problems.
As others have mentioned, it is a place to get away from it all. Just what the doctor ordered for our group. You are close enough to float the Missouri and far enough from town to unplug. Comfy couches and beds. Awesome deck. Looking forward to visiting again.
The property was great! It had amazing views, truly breathtaking. It was the perfect place to get away for a couple days. It had the necessities to be able to cook all meals, nice beds, and a nice bathroom. Would definitely go back!
Wonderful cabin with incredible views and privacy. Excellent location for wildlife, thunderstorms and star gazing. It has it all! Great location for Missouri River fishing along with nearby rivers/creeks. The cabin is also cozy and peaceful enough if you want to just stay in and relax. Highly recommend!!!
This was the second time we've stayed here. As before, we LOVE the remoteness, quietness, and views. Also as before, it's still rustic, almost-off-the grid, and you've got to be very careful not to exhaust the solar power. In other words, bring a headlamp or lantern, and your own coffee grinder (but don't expect to grind anything until the sun is well up). This place would be amazing with the addition of a simple reciprocating fan and chest freezer... but that's probably not an option without a power upgrade. But like we said the first time, dang the views are amazing!
Unique property. Peaceful, safe and wonderful views.
Unique property with beautiful views. It is completely off the grid with solar panels . The road up to it after the rain gets a bit dicey so a all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle would be great assurance. The solitude , privacy, views and very comfortable beds were wonderful. We enjoyed watching the deer & birds. Traveling into Craig was fun. Dinner at Issacs is heavenly & Scott the bartender makes the 2600 mile trip in each direction trip worth it.
This is the kind of vacation hideout I've been looking for for years! But it might not be for everyone.
So first, here's what some folks might find challenging - it's rustic. It's remote. It might not be accessible in winter. If you're pulling a boat, you might need a 4 wheel drive to get there (the road is steep). There's no TV. The only internet you'll get is over your cell phone. The water heater is small and runs off solar, so you'll need to take short showers. Theres no central heat or AC, but there is a cozy wood stove and the elevation is high / breezy enough to be comfortable even in the summer. Kitchen equipment is basic. You'll need to bring ice.
Ok, having said all that, here's what makes it amazing - its rustic. Its cozy. Its quiet. It has a deck and a propane grill. The views are AMAZING. Mountains, rivers, sunsets. You can see forever. If you're looking for a place to unplug and think and drink coffee (or scotch) and just have that much needed reset in life... it just doesn't get any better than this. You can fish the Mo during the day, hang out, read, write, hike, gaze... it really is amazing.
But again, it may not be for everyone. As for us, we will definitely be back. Great place, great hosts, great views. Absolutely loved it.
