My husband and I wanted to get away from it all, but we also wanted to be as safe as possible considering the Covid-19 situation. Lucky W was the perfect solution for us! The cottage is super clean, charming, and perfectly cozy. It is a lovely place, even cuter than the pictures! Jessica and William are wonderful hosts as well. They suggested some fabulous places to hike that we might not have found otherwise and gave us great recommendations for local restaurants (most all offering curbside service and some with outdoor dining spaced for social distancing). There was honey from their farm in the cottage, and Jessica brought us delicious, fresh eggs from their chickens! The views from their farm is breathing taking. It feels like you are out in the middle of nowhere, but you can be at Fresh Market or Whole Foods in 10 minutes or downtown Asheville in 15. We loved our stay and can't wait to visit again!
Jessica and William were great hosts, they gave us fantastic restaurant and hiking recommendations. The property was fun to explore, with the free range chickens and three very friendly dogs. Highly recommend!
We throughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage on the Lucky W farm!!
We had great communication with the owners, in fact they were there to greet us when we arrived. They told us we were welcome to explore their farm.
They have chickens, bees and dogs. We had a lovely couple of surprises. There were fresh eggs in the fridge and honey on the kitchen table!
The dogs are friendly too.
The cottage is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, downtown Asheville and there are about four grocery stores within about three or four miles.
We will definitely be going back for some R&R!!
Good: owner was responsive, met us at check-in, great location close to town, wifi was good, kitchen was decently stocked. We both agreed this VRBO is a perfect bachelor pad / studio type stay. Accurate ad to say not safe for kids/elderly.
Notsogood:
The pictures don't accurately depict the privacy of the location. It is a detached garage so we expected to be close to the house, but the family parks close enough to see in the living room and kitchen which have no blinds (no midnight snacks in your jammies). Would suggest adding blinds and curtains around the whole building.
The VRBO is "dog free" which was necessary for our stay but there are dogs on the property. Would recommend adding to the description for clarification for those with allergies. I found the dogs to be very sweet though.
The kitchen was stocked with necessities which was nice, but the pot/pan selection was slim. Bring your own if you plan to cook anything.
The farm itself was very cute, and we were able to see the horses, but the property isn't as explorable as the ad seems. Also since they have bees on the property you shouldn't use any bug spray which resulted in lots of mosquito bites when we did sit outside to enjoy the view.
This property is everything you need away from home. Owners provided easy communication and answered all questions. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, easy directions, and convenient to town and the Biltmore. Nice heated floors on cold mornings. Amenities in the cottage made it feel extra homey to include access to Netflix, toiletries, extra bedding and towels, kitchen stocked with cooking needs, and farm fresh eggs available. Only downside is I would prefer blinds for all windows for option to close for privacy and light.
Thanks for a lovely stay and I recommend to anyone wanting a getaway to Asheville!
It is a perfect little cottage. Only a few miles to the main road and 15 minutes to town. The view is gorgeous. So many special touches with the furnishings, throws, handmade soaps, organic coffee and a dozen fresh eggs (from the chickens on the property). The "pups" are sweethearts and took a walk with us (threw sticks for them). The horses were big carrot loving sweeties. The owners were very helpful when needed but gave us plenty of privacy.
Jessica was very welcoming. She provided a ton of information about the surrounding area, hiking in pisgah and DuPont state forest which was the main focus of the trip. She answered our questions via text very quickly. The pool was amazing
