Location was excellent. Place was nice aside from a few areas that were outdated . Called maintenance upon arrival for some issues we noticed and they were super quick to respond. Overall good information from the rental company. Loved the pool and hot-tub bar area!

Holiday stay

Nice home just a block from beach at tip of island. Comfy living room and beds, well stocked kitchen, bikes provided which were great fun to ride on beach. Only problem was that we had specifically chosen a home with an in-ground hot tub and double checked with agent before arriving to confirm it would be working. Sadly, upon arrival we found it was not working at all-- property management staff were prompt in replying and tried several attempts to fix it but turned out a major part was needed that did not arrive. Functioning of tub should have been checked before our arrival.

Great graduation celebration trip!

We had a great week at 1 Black Duck. The location was wonderful!!!The pool was so nice and our guys enjoyed the rec room. It was also clean and the starter toiletries and kitchen supplies were nice. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because while the kitchen is extremely well-stocked for cooking, it would’ve been nice to have a place to store our food besides the lazy Susan cabinets. We adjusted and used some plastic tubs we brought. Also, the master bedroom mattress was too hard for us but that is personal preference. In comparison to other rentals we’ve stayed in on Sea Pines, upgraded towels and sheets would also be nice. There was a broken step on the side entrance stairs about which I emailed the property manager. No one came to fix it (thankfully no one fell on it). I’ve emailed them again today with additional pictures, and I’m sure it will be addressed before the next guests arrive.

Thank you for sharing your experience at 1 Black Duck with us. I will pass along the kitchen feedback to the owners as their long term plan for the house is to remodel and some additional space for food is much needed in that house. I also want to apologize for the communication error with the broken step. We did have someone go out to fix it and they did, however, upon going to the property myself this past week there were three more steps that needed repairing when investigating this issue. I had all of the steps secured this past weekend and I thank you for bringing that to our attention. We look forward to accommodating you again in the future. The Vacation Company

Great Location, Nice House

Location is great! It's an easy walk to the beach via Water Tower Park. Also a short walk to the Marina. Common living areas are really nicely updated. Living room was very comfortable, a great place to hangout once the kids were in bed. There's a great screened-in patio off the main floor. Kitchen is updated and has everything we needed to make dinner multiple nights. Fridge was oddly shallow, but fits the style of the kitchen. Bathrooms could stand to be updated but they were in good condition. I wouldn't lower the star rating for it. Our mattress could have been more comfortable - it felt a bit worn. It wasn't like a hotel mattress that's nice a plush. Would recommend it get replaced, but again wouldn't lower a start rating for it, it didn't keep me from sleeping well. We didn't end up using the pool (at the beach the whole time), but it looked really nice as well as the patio area. Only other minor critique is there were only like 10 hangers in the house. So we needed to go buy hangers to hang our clothes up from our luggage. Would recommend hangers be provided. Overall a great location and really nice house. Would definitely stay here again!

1 Black Duck Sea Pines

We were first attracted to this rental, due to the fact that I had an elevator, since I have a disabled daughter. We were told a few days before arriving that the elevator was in operable. It wasn’t a big deal, we had to use the stairs with my daughter. I wasn’t gonna let that ruin the vacation. What was a little disappointing was that the pictures that were online really did not match up what the property really look like. If I would’ve done a walk-through of the property before renting it, I would not have rented it at all. The house inside is seriously outdated and needs a really good freshening up. The outside shower was absolutely disgusting and we didn’t even use it. The shrubbery near the pool needs a good trimming, and the shrubbery is so overgrown near the closed off area for the pool filter that it will cause issues down the road. Upon arrival, the ice machine did not work, and the dryer was not drying properly. The water pressure for taking showers inside the house was not the best and we just had to work it out with each other not to take showers at the same time. The blender was broken upon arrival and the pots and pans really need some seriously updating. The vacation company itself was very receptive in my needs and came by and supplied bags of ice. I would not rent this house again, but would use the Vacation Company to find another house.

Plenty of space and close to the beach

Lots of space for 9 adults and 2 kids. Short walk to the beach, and great outdoor/porch areas. Kitchen needs some upgrades - chipped, wearing paint on cabinets, and no space for non-perishables. We used the shelves in the dining area, which worked well. Pots and pans were worn and badly scratched. Some looked like food was burned on them and were never cleaned. I mentioned this to the management company, and new pots and pans (very nice ones, I might add) were delivered in short order. One other thing that bears mention - towards the end of our stay, the back two bedrooms were very warm. We could not figure out how to cool them down, other than bringing in fans. The rest of the house stayed very comfortable. If all rooms stayed cool, we would likely rent this place again.

Sea Pines is Awesome!

This property had it all. Excellent kitchen, living space and pool. Our family had a wonderful time. Short walk to the beach which was serene and beautiful. Few people on the beach so it was easy to social distance. Loved the entire week!

Easy living on the coast

The location of this house is amazing. A quick walk into the beach or a short bike ride to The Salty Dog for dinner. This house is set up for relaxation and peace.

Great house for a great trip!

We loved staying in this house. We had two crawling babies with us and it was a great layout for them - we were also happy that there was a baby gate at the stairs. The close proximity to the beach and South Beach was very convenient meaning that we didn't have to drive anywhere if we didn't want to. Having the bikes with the house was also very convenient. The screened in porch was also very nice and relaxing. We would definitely stay at this house again.
