Really awesome place with great space for everything. Beautiful view of Mt Shasta from the living room window. Good shower, good kitchen and great feel!
We communicated with the owner before our stay due to covid-related travel restrictions. The owner (Virginia) is very friendly and reliable person. I am so glad we finally went on with our booking.
The house is as described. Nothing very fancy but sweet and cozy and warm.
Location is unbeatable. Close to town to get groceries (short driving distance) but away enough to feel as a gateway. There is a nice trail nearby. The City Park (river, playground, easy hikes) is within walking distance. There is also a train crossing near by that our kids loved watching the cargo train pass. With young kids stuck at home due to covid it was an ideal place for us.The house has a very large window in the living room with gorgeous mountain view.
The back /side yard of the house is actually pretty large. Not very well attended, but when it snowed is was very convenient to have the kids play there.
It would be nice to have a regular size coffee maker instead of the little 5cup one.
Need to bring bathroom/shower necessities ; spices and cooking oils. Other than that, the house was well equipped with towels, toilet paper, kitchen towels, linens etc.
Thank you Virginia !
We came here for a much needed family getaway. The place was really well cared for, with a beautiful view of the mountain. Iâd definitely stay again!
The property was just as described, quaint, clean and cozy! The location is perfect, close to the mountain, main area of town and a hiking trail. Others didn't mention there are several toys for young children and a pack n' play for a baby/toddler to sleep in, in addition to the high chair pictured so little ones will have a comfortable fun stay too.
Very nice and comfortable house. Quiet and peaceful location. Walk to Spring Hill trail, Mt. Shasta Citi park, Gateway Peace Garden.
A great place to stay, thank you !
We arrived here after the bomb cyclone hit, and the heater wasn't working! But Virginia had someone working on it right away (thanks, Wayne!) and she was very responsive and even called me beforehand to make sure we were ok (for the drive up--there were road closures). Once we got heat we were very comfortable.
The rooms were clean and linens provided. Fully stocked kitchen (but bring oil, spices!) with coffee pot, tea kettle, pots/pans. We mostly stayed inside since all the trials were closed off due to 18" of snow! We didn't see/use the yard (covered in snow) but walked our dog around the neighborhood.
Very close to the headwaters and a mile away from downtown. Bring shampoo/body wash/ hair dryer. Thank you for the lovely stay, Virginia!
The house was huge. We were very comfortable. The beds were amazing. She had extra extra extra towels, beddings, and kitchenware and appliances. . It is 2 blocks away from the Spring Hill Trail. A 20 minutes walk to city center. It had a huge window with a view to the woods and you can see Mount Shasta from there.
Bring your own coffee (she had coffee maker machines) and bring your shampoo and conditioner.
She had some canned beans, sugar, salt, oil and spices.
i would not hesitate to book again on my next trip to Shasta.
Virginiaâs house was a very good deal, with 3 full sized bedrooms. Everything was fine as the kitchen was fully equipped, except I did need to get some seasonings for cooking, so best to bring those along. If she had a hot tub I would give it 5 1/2 stars...maybe next time! But overall you really could not beat the price for a place that could easily sleep 3 couples. There is only one bath room, which could be a problem depending on how many people occupied the place, but again for the price it could not be beat. And Virginia was very prompt in responding to inquiries, which was greatly appreciated.

We had a great time!
Concerns were addressed quickly, amazing little place in a beautiful little part of mount Shasta. Only about 5 minute drive to town, beautiful yard and a really nice little home. We got snow every day we were up there over Presidentâs day weekend! Great stay, awesome value.

Cozy house
We stayed at this cozy Mt Shasta house. Everything worked out great and the house meet our needs.
We appreciate the lovely accommodations at this property although there were a couple things that we wish could've been different. It is too close the the railroad tracks for a quiet night's sleep, and only two washcloths were provided for three adults staying four nights. When booking, there are no refunds for cancellation available, and I'm simply not comfortable with that policy. We were billed a $500 damage deposit and I could not complete the reservation without also being billed for some sort of damage insurance. I understand some of these issue are probably VRBO policy and we will not likely use VRBO again. The property owner was fairly easy to communicate with and we appreciated her suggestions regarding temperature control, as it was uncomfortably warm during late July. Thanks Virginia for offering the home for guests to use!
Lovely home, great view, well-equipped, warm host!
We had a wonderful holiday weekend at the property. The indoor space was immaculate. The rich pine wood paneling gave the space the warmth of a mountain cabin. Appreciated the new linens and towels. The 3 bedrooms were nicely appointed, 1 with a TV which we tried hard not to use. Each room had a space heater which we only used 1 night. The only bathroom was small but had a tub and a shower. The kitchen was very functional and included basic cooking staples and well-stocked supplies. There was a wide array of well-used pots and pans and newer dishes that met our needs for cooking in all our meals. The view of Mt. Shasta from the picture window in the common area was spectacular. The long dining table with benches was ideal for the board games we enjoyed. The free WiFi had a strong signal. The location is at the north end of town, by the City Park where you can drink from the gurgling pure headwaters of what becomes the mighty Sacramento River. The railroad tracks are also not far away, so you will hear the occasional train whistle. Itâs a short drive to the center of town, but a 25 minute hike on foot. The host was very responsive and available. Overall, we would gladly stay there again.
We were 6 adults that had a very quiet and pleasant in the cabin for 2 nights during Christmas. The space was nice and clean with all basic amenities and a fully functional kitchen. The heaters kept the rooms warm on cold snowy days. And the views of Mount Shasta from the living room were beautiful. The town and the Everitt Memorial Highway that leads up to the mountain are only a short distance away.
I would recommend this place for a tranquil stay close to the mountain.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this house for a long weekend and had such a great time! We were blown away by how spacious it was, how close it is to town and outdoor adventures, and by the lovely and sweet caretaker, Steve. We booked this place easily and really only saw Steve once when checking in.
While it was only he and I the whole time, we could have easily had more of us there.
Having a fully functioning kitchen made making breakfast and dinner fun and easy. We took full advantage of that!
Finally, did I mention the view of Mt. Shasta from the living room?? Breathtaking.
All in all I would wholeheartedly recommend this to all my friends. This place was perfect!
What a great place! We spent a long weekend and enjoyed it immensely.
The house is spacious, enough room for 2 families with kids . It is well furnished with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The location is wonderful.
This is a great place to stay, we highly recommend it!
My husband, brother, sister-in-law, and I, along with our dogs, stayed in this house for a long weekend at the end of July/early August. The space was really nice, clean and had everything we needed from linens to towels to kitchen needs. The deck in front is a great space to drink coffee in the morning and sit and chat with friends in the evening. The beds are comfortable and the linens are nice and soft. And, having good WiFi was a nice bonus.
Due to the heat, and no air conditioning, we spent much of our time at Lake Siskiyou, which is absolutely gorgeous and fun! Mount Shasta is such a cute town and the views are amazing. Highly recommend this house rental and a trip to Mount Shasta!
If you're thinking of brining dogs, you just need to keep in mind that there is no fenced-in area for them to roam free outside.
It was a very amazing and peaceful experience. Booking process was simple and Virginia was prompt to answer my queries. House is in good condition. Everything went smooth and our 4 days vacation was an amazing experience. View of Mt Shasta from living room and bedroom was really nice.
Thanks and I would definitely recommend this rental.
My husband and I stayed at the cabin over Christmas for 3 nights enjoying the beautiful view of Mt Shasta from the living room. The cabin was clean, well maintained, great Wi-fi, and the kitchen had everything new need. The only thing missing was the snow from lack of rain in Northern California this year. Close to downtown and the city park.
Clean comfortable cabin with great Mt. Shasta view
We enjoyed the vacation time living in this cabin. The house is very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the scene of mountain Shasta from its big window in the living room . It has nice a porch in the front of the house. We ate breakfast and looked at shining stars in the evening there. This house is close to downtown and Mountain shasta and Siskyou lake. It is a great vacation house for us and we wish to come back in the future.
