We loved staying at Anchor House for a week in July. Southport is already our Happy Place. But we normally only get to come for long weekends, and typically stay in one of the hotels. This time we had a whole week to visit, but wanted to bring our dogs and did not want to live out of a hotel for a week. Anchor House was the perfect solution, welcoming us AND our pets and providing a great base for exploring all of our favorite places in the area.
The home is very nice, with quality furnishings and appliances, fun artwork, and personal touches that make it feel like home. The beds were reasonably comfortable, everything was very clean and well-maintained, and the communication and check-in/ check-out system were great. The location, of course, was the absolute best part, as we were in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood, close to everything, but buffered from the July crowds.
I particularly appreciated that the home included things like linens, paper products, trash bags, and enough coffee for a good first morning. We have stayed in many great properties in other areas that supplied these things. But we have noticed that many coastal properties do not, just by policy. So I really appreciated that this property stood out by not making us pack linens or do an emergency run to the store. It makes a difference and I was grateful for it.
