Absolutely loved the peace and quiet during our stay at sanctuary cove. The cottage was clean and well stocked for cooking. Check in process was easy. We would definately stay there again!!
Caretakers of Sanctuary Cove are amazing, responding within minutes to our every question or request. The cottage is immaculate and the area exquisite. We experienced mtns trails, meditation labyrinth, rock climbing, witnessed hot air balloon directly overhead and beautiful sun rise and sunsets! A magical experience.
My wife and I found this property to be one of the best but we have ever stayed in, and we stayed at a lot of properties. We would gladly recommend Allison property to anyone who needs a few days to rest and relax in the peacefulness of the area that surrounds this property.
Sanctuary Cove was the perfect place for my husband and I. It had more than we needed inside and beyond what we could have imagined outside. We had an amazing week long stay.
This is one of the most special and unique places to stay in all of the country. If you love being immersed in nature and peace and quiet this is the place for you.
We absolutely loved our stay here at Sanctuary Cove on the edge of Saguaro National Park. We had no idea when booking that this was a small retreat home, originally built for peaceful retreat from the business of life, but, for us, that was a perfect accident. The trails on the property allowed for contemplative walks through desert landscape, plus there was a dedicated labyrinth, beside the Peace Chapel, (ecumenical-- nothing doctrinal) which I visited morning and evening. The home was cozy and comfortable, well-equipped with everything we needed. The host was welcoming and communicative, on the property next door but not at all intrusive. We were blessed to find this place.
We come here to get away from the noise of the city. Its so quiet and is just breathtaking beautiful. The cottage is clean and comfortable. The hiking is easier or challenging, depending on what you are up for. We will be back a 3rd time.
The cottage at Sanctuary Cove was truly amazing. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed coffee on the porch as the sun rose in the morning and snacks on the back porch as it set in the evening. The trails were great. Although we took in some of the surrounding area, we really had no need to ever leave the beautiful grounds and setting. Alison was a pleasant host checking in on us when we arrived and very easy to communicate with. We'd highly recommend this location if you're looking for a peaceful get away.
Overall our visit was great. The property is beautiful and it is peaceful and quiet. You will not find a prettier place to stay in the Tucson area. We enjoyed our stay and I would definitely stay here again.
Property manager was responsive and we had everything we needed.
The one thing I would note is that while there is A/C they ask you keep it no lower than 78 and it never cooled below 80 during the day. It does cool down at night though.
For those who want a quiet stay among sagauros, Sanctuary Cove is ideal. Nestled below Safford Peak, this property has short quiet loop trails. With a bit of rocky climbing, you can hike directly south into Saguaro National Park, or you can take the nearby Passey Loop Trail. The cabin is simple but has everything needed for folks wanting a quiet rural stay. It has a very well-stocked kitchen (variety of teas, seasonings, oils, etc. for cooking in the cabin) and bathroom. The back deck is an ideal spot to lounge. We are two naturalists and will for sure stay here every time we return to Tucson to enjoy desert natural history.
Sanctuary Cove was the perfect spot for our stay. I would not hesitate to recommend this location to friends and family!
A secluded, quiet and beautiful spot with easy access to everything that Tucson area has to offer. Sanctuary Cove even has it own hiking trails on the property!
One minor suggestion to the owners would be to consider replacing the mattress set on the bed. While comfortable, when we tried to sleep together the bed sagged and both of us sunk into the middle of the mattress. The good news is that there is a small fold-out sleeper with a foam topper, which I found quite comfortable.
I wanted to end our vacation in a place I could just relax and not leave and boy was this it. It was only available for 4 nights so it did leave us wanting a full week for next time.
The image of the amazing veranda had captured my attention and I did spend hours & hours there, interspersed with short walks (had a sprained ankle) and photo ops.
The house is perfectly laid out with everything in it's place and clean and functional as well as warm & cozy. I love the old territorial brick cottages which are well suited to the environment.
Alison the property manager was extremely responsive as well as a lovely person to deal with. Overall, one of the very best rental experiences we've had and can't wait to return.
Peaceful sanctuary retreat near entrance to Saguaro National Park
I loved my time at this peaceful guest cottage. The space was very clean (non-smoking space) and cool, the bed comfortable, and the kitchen had everything I needed to prepare my meals. There is a huge covered area behind the kitchen that I did not use on this trip, but would be lovely when the temperatures cool a bit. The library of books inside can provide a visitor with plenty of reading material which I enjoyed before getting a good night's sleep (it's very peaceful and quiet). There is a trail that leads up the hill behind the house which offers lovely views (got to see a rainbow my first evening). The drive to the cottage has a gate which must be opened after sunset and before sunrise (you have a key), which makes this area feel even more secure.
Alison and her husband were so kind and helpful whenever I needed anything. I definitely plan to return here on my next trip!
The accommodation at Sanctuary Cove was even better than the photos and description. Our hosts checked in with us shortly after we arrived and were available if we needed to contact them for anything. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a peaceful getaway.
The location of the cottage is simply stunning. Located far from the city and streets, it offers unforgettably tranquil experience. There are several great hiking options right from the cottage. We would like to come back to this cottage and explore more of the Sonora Desert.
This location was so perfect for relaxing both body and mind. Beautiful property and comfortable cottage. So nice to just step outside and get on a trail. Not far from amenities. Property caretakers helpful and quick to respond to questions. We hope to return next year!
This cozy cottage was exactly as advertised & more! We LOVED the setting, & we LOVED the cottage!! It was a wonderful get-away & the awesome weather was a bonus. If we ever get the blessing to return, this is where we will stay. We plan on recommending it to anyone visiting Tucson.
It would be difficult to find a finer view of the Sonoran desert, and especially right from your private covered patio. If you want connection to the natural environment and privacy, you will adore this sweet place. We enjoyed the sunrise from the front porch over the Santa Catalina Mts. and the sunsets over Safford Peak on the back porch. We walked the labyrinth first thing in the morning as a spiritual practice during our stay which was so lovely and peaceful. Give it a try if you stay here! Alison and Jack, the caretakers, were kind and responsive. The small cabin is simple, but well supplied with what you will need during your wonderful stay.
This property is extremely special... located off the beaten path and bordering Saguaro National Park while still a quick drive from groceries and restaurants. The view when eating on the dining patio is priceless. The cottage had everything my wife and I needed, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts were easy to reach and responsive. We would absolutely stay here again next time we're in the Tucson area.
My partner and I came to stay for a few days, and we're so glad we did. The house was wonderfully quiet and secluded, and we were able to enjoy the renewal the desert can bring. Comfy bed, hard water (a joy and delight in Tucson!), and a quick drive to Marana (the area of Tucson closest by). We'll be back!
My husband and I just wanted to try someplace different for our 25th Anniversary. The stay at Sanctuary Cove was very relaxing and quiet. We enjoyed morning hikes and evening sunsets on the patio. Though there are other people visiting the Cove, the cottage is off to the side and you still feel like the only people there.Everything was perfect. We will be staying again for sure.
Ali and her husband are the current Caretakers of this unique property which is owned and managed by a local non-profit corporation, All Creeds Brotherhood, Inc
We are one couple in a long line of many who have occupied and cared for this piece of the Sonoran Desert, helping to preserve its natural quiet for generations before us and hopefully, many to come.
When you stay at the Cottage, you have access to 80 acres of pristine natural beauty including hiking trails, a Chapel and Amphitheater. Plants and animals abound. The view of the city and three mountain ranges at dusk is simply spectacular. This is the perfect place to get away from the noise, there is no TV, just a quiet patio, a comfy chair, books and peace.
