This property was very cute. Comfortable & well decorated. The views were hidden by the smoke from the fires but on a clear day would be lovely.
A few of the house rules were a bit quirky. No shoes in the house - not too unusual - but a chair or bench near the door would be helpful. We are Senior citizens so getting walking shoes off was a little tricky. Also there was a rule about cooking fish or bacon in the house. It was not allowed & the suggestion was to cook them on the barbecue - despite there being a good exhaust fan over the stove.
Our biggest complaint was the television situation. The listing mentioned being able to watch Netflix. That was great but what it didnât say was that the televisions ONLY showed Netflix - no local or cable programming. We are big fans of watching news & sports so this was definitely a problem for us.
A wonderful place to stay. Has all the comforts of home. View of the bay is beautiful. If you like to relax on the deck and take in the day, this place is a must :)
We had a wonderful time this weekend, the Hillside Beach House was a great place to stay this time and we hope to return again in the near future. The house was very clean and in excellent condition, the owners were very accommodating and easy to communicate with.

The house was immaculate and everything was new or nearly so, and very well equipped. Ron, the owner, was very attentive and helpful. The view overlooking the town and bay was stunning because of the elevation. This brings to mind the one negative aspect--the very steep gravel driveway and steps, prominently mentioned by the owner in the listing. This shouldn't be a problem if you have the right kind of vehicle and you are able to climb stairs. I would contact the owner if you're not sure you can manage. The sunsets viewed from the deck were magnificent and an unexpected bonus. You would be very close to the Canadian border which is very easy to cross. There are also a number of very interesting little towns on the USA side worth visiting, e.g. Lynden.
This was our first trip to Birch Bay. The rental was very clean and well appointed. We were particularly pleased with the kitchen having everything we needed. The beds were comfy as were the sofas and chairs. Fantastic view from the deck, and a short walk with the kiddos down to the beach. Our family will definitely consider staying again!
We walked in to the wonderful smell of the ocean coming in from the bay and it just got better! The home is impeccably decorated with new everything from the dishes to the grill to the furniture and towels. It is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Sandy was very friendly and accommodating and immediately available for any questions or needs. The washer and dryer were great to use after a week of traveling, the kitchen easy to cook in and there's even a skylight over the tub/shower for tons of natural light!
This was a great experience and we'll definitely be back.
We were blessed to purchase this lovely beach house this Spring. We love the Birch Bay area and have lived locally for the past 12 years. I'm a realtor for Birch Bay Reality and Sandy my wife is a life coach . We also serve as the Directors of the Meditation Center in Birch Bay. We have many fun memories with Family and Grandchildren and look to many more and share with you!.
We love this property the moment we walked it before purchasing it. The views of the water and sunsets are only one of the reason we liked it. The smell of the ocean and gentle breezes from the Bay immediately make you feel like you're on a retreat! The sea life and birds are also abundant with Eagles sitting in the trees right next to the deck.
The home is cozy clean and a feel good place. It;s decorated with things we love that makes the experience of the house comfortable and a relaxing place to stay. The beds are with quality linens that you will love. Be it a summer or winter getaway one can enjoy the views from almost every room in the house. Summers on the deck and winters cozied up by the fire.
