It was a lovely weekend getaway near the river. We enjoyed watching the birds outside and taking walks down the road. The home had everything we needed and was tidy and comfortable.
The house sits in a beautiful setting , and is a very charming old house with homey feel. We look forward to staying there on our trips up to Fall River Mills . Very quiet and peaceful place to stay !
Loved this place -- right off the river. Kept us dry and comfortable during the rain and cold. Amanda was easy to reach and super helpful. Pretty cool visit by deer and birds right outside the door. Can't want to go back!
This is a comfortable place to stay. The setting in the house is nice for relaxing and reading. There is no internet available so you are disconnected from the world if that is something you look forward to. They do have movies available to watch. Thankfully, they do have a land line available if you need to reach the property manager. She was AMAZING and quickly responsive. Loved seeing the deer in the back every day. We would drive 2 miles down the road and park to check our emails as needed. The view of Shasta when heading back to the house from town was quite awesome! It was farther out from town than we would have liked but the drive was a very pleasant one.
Upon arriving the first thing you saw was a full burn barrel of trash, the front door had damage and the inner door was not operational - hinge was broken. No grill, broken dishes - had to wash dishes before using them.
The grass was overgrown and the culvert was full of water and mosquitos - lots of mosquitos!
The screens in the living room, doors, bedrooms were ripped so you could not open the windows, unless you like mosquitos!
Blinds fell down the first night in one bedroom, it appeared they had previously been repaired with masking tape. Smoke alarm would go off when the stove was on. Microwave above stove (the one with the fan) was not operational, there was one tiny little replacement microwave. No toaster, had to use the oven.
Ripped flooring in the bathroom and one quest tripped in the middle of the night.
No instruction book to tell you where to put trash/recycling and how to close or open up the house - this house could use one.
This house could be a diamond, but needs some serious TLC.
Good things - the beds were clean, nice sheets and comfy! Old school charm in the living room. Apples were tasty on the apple trees. Close to the river.
We enjoyed our time staying in the area. Lots of deer to watch. Not far from grocery store, fuel or banks. Everything worked as stated, the host Amanda was easy to contact and returned our messages promptly.
Side note..my husband grew up in that house.
This is a true getaway. No hustle, no bustle in a secluded country setting. Very relaxing and quiet, a perfect place to literally unplug and unwind. Perfectly located for the avid fisherman, plenty of rivers and lakes to fish, and for the avid hiker. There are many trails and waterfalls in the area to keep you busy and in awe. So if you are looking for a chance to unplug and be disconnected from everything. Keep that in mind, as there is no cell service or internet, it is perfect if you just want to get away from it all.
Highly recommend if you dont mind being disconnected. Great little place.
Really liked the remoteness and didnât mind being off-the-grid; however, cleanliness was lacking especially in the kitchen with the refrigerator, dishes, pots and pans, and utensils having food and grease that was not washed off. Place was very rustic, as we expected, and probably more accommodating for a group of fishing and hunting buddies than a family on vacation. It did provide a needed half-way rest stop for our eventual destination to Sunriver, Oregon, and allowed us to explore nearby McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park and enroute Lava Beds National Monument.
We had an amazing stay, it was last minute for work, Amanda was very accommodating, easy to work with and the location of the home and area was beautiful. It was so quiet relaxing we had 4 deer to wake up to a hung around the yard everyday, the river was so clear, cold but We enjoyed it a lot. The view are breath taking. The home was nice neat clean and gave that good county home feel. We are looking forward to going back for sure. A queen bed would be awesome! But other than that it was perfect!
The house was more rustic than we anticipated. The outside looked different than the advertised picture. It was in very poor condition. Paint was very old and faded. The foundation was rotting. The house was cleaned looking however, the surfaces were sticky and the coffee pot was very stained and dirty looking. I washed it three times and still didnât use it. The house was hot and stuffy with only one ceiling fan that did a poor job of circulating the air. The house did not cool down until the next morning. We only stayed one of the two nights.
Very quite and peaceful house. Nice to unplug from work. Did get cell phone service for Verizon but internet searches more of a challenge. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a country experience.
