Florida River Valley farm living only 5 miles to downtown
Enjoy the best of both worlds! Tocayo farm, just 10 miles from the heart of Durango, lies in the Florida River Valley. The cottage, which has been completely renovated, was once the blacksmithing shop for the homesteaders who settled here over a hundred years ago. Tocayo is a working farm with both a sheep operation and a commercial vegetable/cut flower garden.
In the main bedroom there is a king size bed and ample closet space. The living area has a fold out futon which can accommodate two kids or one adult. The full bath has a shower tub combo. Enjoy the views from the private back patio with either your morning coffee or while grilling your favorite meal.
While the farm itself is secluded and quiet, the day to day of the sheep operation and market garden make for a bustling environment. The cottage shares a large parking area with the main house which is located nearby.
Possibilities to accommodate people traveling with horses, large trailers or hunters exist. Inquire with owners.
Our stay was great! The cottage is very cozy and comfortable! The hosts were very nice and quick to respond with any questions. I would definitely stay here again!
We loved our time at the cottage and will stay there again when we are in Durango. It was the perfect locationâclose to town but remote in the best way. The hosts filled the cottage with kind touches that made us feel welcomed. We loved sitting by the river. It was the perfect rental for our vacation.
My wife and I were in Durango for just two nights and we wanted a quiet place to lay our heads as we were finishing up a cross country trek from Maine to Scottsdale. Spencer and Sarahâs lovely cabin was just perfect! Nice personal touches made us feel comfortable and the back patio, looking out over the pasture, was the perfect place for a glass of wine. Nice location just ten minutes from the town center but so quiet at night. Iâd love to stay here again.
This cabin is in an idyllic setting almost beyond description. The short walk to the river, the breeze through the cottonwoods, the pastoral view of the fields from the patio, the cozy feeling in the well-appointed cabin, and the warm and friendly hosts make this place an incredibly delightful retreat. We intend to come back often.
We were here to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary and visit the many ruins in the area. The cottage was immaculate and perfectly appointed. We had everything we needed and we got to play with Casper the farm dog. The farm was quite and peaceful and was right by the river. We loved it!
Iâd give more than 5 stars if possible! We couldnât have asked for more with this cottage. Itâs far enough out of town to feel secluded, close enough to town to experience what Durango has to offer.
We loved sitting on the patio, and having a creek and picnic area a short stroll away.
We loved our stay at the cottage! It was peaceful place and just a short ride into town. Everything was spotless. The pots/pans and knives were a cut above what you frequently find at vacation rentals in both quality and organization, so it was easy to prepare a simple meal. The bed was large and comfortable. We loved the private patio overlooking the meadow. There was a nice variety of birds in the area for those who love watching/listening. For us, the friendly family dog was a nice bonus, but he was incredibly well behaved and if not for our encouragement to hang out with us, would have left us alone, so not a concern for those who don't like dogs.
We were looking for somewhere quiet to relax over Thanksgiving and this cottage fit the bill perfectly! It was so quiet and private that we slept better than we had in years. There was a full kitchen and sitting/eating area and a separate bedroom. We took a walk along the river on the property to a picnic area one morning. At night, we stared up at a billion stars and saw Mars. We would definitely rent the cottage again!
This place was a gem! It was exactly what I was looking for during my visit to Durango. It was away from the hustle and bustle of downtown yet close enough to get to the venues I visited. The cottage is quaint and cozy and perfect for a singe or a double occupancy. The proprietors are very welcoming and even allow you to walk around the property. The dog will even take you on a tour of the grounds. I was very relaxed while I was there. It was the perfect trip! It was also a great time of year to visit since the fall colors were on full display. Thanks, Sarah, Spencer, and family, for being so welcoming.
Beautiful surroundings and cozy house with everything we needed! Comfy bed and wonderful porches for coffee! Even had entertainment-a sweet border collie that loves to play! We hope to return!
Our stay at Tocayo Farm was perfection. The cottage is immaculate and attractive, and our hosts, Sarah and Spencer were welcoming and responsive. Durango and mountain trails were easily accessed from this location.
We had a lovely stay at this cabin. Cozy, comfortable, clean and in a beautiful setting. The bed was super comfortable and Sarah and Spencer provided all of the extras. We will definitely stay here again!
Cute cabin tucked away on a ranch near the river. Great amenities provided, including full stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot with coffee, all dishes, and washer/dryer.
The cottage was a very nice and quiet place to stay. Not far from town and very easy to find and get to. Itâs next to the owners home but they do not bother you at all and are quick to respond if anything is needed. We will definitely be back to stay
The location, attention to details, friendly environment are second to none. Spencer shared with us some fly fishing spots you would only typically share with your very best friends.
