I stayed 17 days and was not disappointed once. The view is fantastic. It was wonderful getting up at 5:30 each morning and sitting outside drinking coffee and looking at the water.

Beautiful Views

If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with wonderful views of the sunset and whales with easy access to beautiful beaches, this is the property for you. The condo has friendly neighbors. It was perfect for days on the beach and exploring the island.

This location and the view of Maui from the front and the back was amazing. We can watch the sunrise and then go to the back and to the lanai and look at the sunset. It was great beautiful. We plan on coming back next year and getting the same room, perfect location, everything about this room was exactly what My Husband and I were looking for Mahalo

Wonderful location…walking distance to some good food eateries, good beach just across the street….great amenities-3 boogie boards, beach chairs and beach umbrella. Two different sized coolers. Great view from lanai as you have your morning coffee and papaya and pineapples. Also wonderful view of sunsets from the lanai. All in all, the perfect place…..

No a/c but ceiling fans, and could open all doors and get breeze. Great view from the 6th floor. Only suggestion would be replace dresser drawers- they would get stuck all the time.

best deal around!

I hesitate to rave too much about this unit-- it's truly a hidden gem! This is my 3rd time staying here, and I already have 2 more stays booked. The view is unreal-- whoever it was that said the view isn't that great in their review clearly hasn't stayed in Kihei very much (I've been coming to Kihei for the past 20+ years, so I know what I'm talking about!). Yeah, the appliances are a bit dated, and it's not in tip top shape. But who cares, you come to Maui for Maui, not for the fridge! As long as you're ok with a bit of wear and tear, you won't find a better deal around- best view, great location!

D604 At thé Kihei Akahi great experience

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We just finished staying for 30 days at Kihei Akahi. 9 days at D507 and 21 days at D604. For D507 I would not go back because the carpet is so dirty I wish we did not start our vacation there. In D604 it was really nice, clean and nice furniture. The coffee maker needed replaced and Patti the property manager responded and replaced the machine. The only complaint we have is the screen door on the lanai has many holes in it so the bugs at night were too many.We certainly would love to rent that unit again if possible. Next year we intend to stay 2 months so hopefully we can get a unit as nice as the D604

Saftey and signage

There is no smoke detector in the condo suite. This is a major saftey violation and it needs to be fixed. The buildings in the complex are not clearly marked, especially if you arrive at night like we did. There are four different buildings and the signs that identify them are very small and not lit up at night. We originally went to the wrong building and suite. It was close to midnight and we were tired from traveling but we had to walk all over the complex to find the building with the condo we rented. It was not easy to figure out.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I've traveled to Maui for over 20 yrs and this condo has the best view I've ever seen! Your view from the lanai is from the West Maui Mtns all the way down to the hill by Big Beach! Spectacular for whale watching! The unit itself is a bit dated, but who goes on vacation for appliances?! Overall, everything was clean enough and functioned well. There's also a nice assortment of spices and a rice cooker, both of which are surprisingly rare in vacation rentals! The only drawback is the lanai could use a sunshade, as in the afternoon, the sun is shining directly on you. Hoping one will be added soon, along with a keypad entry (physical keys can be a nuisance on vacation!).I've stayed at different units in the Akahi, you cannot beat the location. Close to all the best beaches, and you can walk to all the nearby shops and restaurants. My friend and I liked it so much, we've already booked for next year :)

Reviewer Comments: The place was old, has probably not been updated since original build? 50 years ?. The bathroom very small, tiling cracked and chipped, no air conditioning, the bed was small ( just regular double bed) . Not a great place for cooking, very few dishes. No comfortable chairs to relax on in the living room. It was not cleaned very well. Fans, curtains, mirrors were very dirty. Sand in the unit. The price should have reflected the units value...it was way overpriced. It was a place to stay that did the job. No one was in the unit that long. The view was nice but not worth the price. Would recommend to someone knowing the condition it was in and hoping they weren’t expecting a lot from it.

Clean, Needs Updating

This is then second unit my wife and I have stayed in at Kihei Akahi. We love then location near Moose's and across from the beach. This unit is clean and fulfilled basic needs but needs some updates. It needs them pretty much everywhere but the kitchen, which seems to have been renovated recently. Because of the way the bathroom was renovated in the past you are squeezed tight for space. The sink area is pretty standard but the mirror/cabinet above needs to be replaced. The woodgrain painted paper is peeling off the pressboard and looks bad. The bedroom is a good size and the bed was comfortable. The living room area is nice and open and allows the winds t blow thru keeping the unit comfortable when the windows are open on the lanai. Both TV's are functional but old Tube SD units and could use to be replaced, both for functional reasons and also for cost savings as new units draw 1/4th the power. If you are looking for a basic unit with no thrills this unit is a winner. If you want something more upscale then I would recommend another unit in this complex.

FOR THE PRICE, I EXPECTED BETTER, BUYER BEWARE

Reviewer Comments: Over the last 15 -20 years we have stayed in many different units at Kihei Akahi. The loacation is perfect for us with the proximity to the KAMAOLE BEACHES, and we love the grounds. D604 was in the worst shape of any we have rented. The frontdoor fram is splintered, screws stripped out of doorknob and some hinges. It was a battle to get in the frontdoor everytime, until I pulled the screw out and just used the deadbolt. The cleaning fee has about doubled in the last 2 years, the place was not very clean. Sheets were very stained.Beach towels fraying, Everything so worn and tired. reminded me of my first apartment, nothing matched. The lanai is the best part of this unit. We called Hawaii Life, they referred us to the local host Lara. She was very apologetic and offered to line up repairs while we were on island. This was a very short trip for us, only 5 days. All 5 were precious to us, and declined that offer. Lara informed us that this unit is scheduled to be renovated later this summer. I would avoid this unit until then.Lara was empathic and understanding of our situation. She is an asset to the company and the renter. On a side note I emailed Hawaii Life and asked if this unit had beach gear (chairs, cooler). They responded that it did not. I rented a gear package from Aunties snorkel. There are chairs, umbrella and cooler in the closet, just saying.

This was a spacious and comfortable one bedroom, so convenient to beaches, dining and shopping. The front office was very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Great value for the price.

Easy instruction to get in the apartment but disappointing that there was no cold water in the fridge as we arrived late.The place is very outdated but that did not bother us. What bothered us is the fact that we rented the place for two weeks and there was only one roll of paper towel and two rolls of toilet paper. There were only for 4 loads supply for the washer/dryer and dishwasher. As I mentioned we stayed two weeks. Check out time was 10:00 am most places are 11:00 am

THE PRICE WAS FAIR, THE VIEW FANTASTIC, APPLIANCES ALL FINE

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: What we loved - 6th floor location - great views of whales in morning and sunset at night. Really nice balcony we enjoyed very much. Also the location is great. Beach across the street is GREAT for snorkling, swimming, body surfing, sun lounging. Sand really fine and soft. Also breakfast place on street and Moose's for easy restaurant access. This condo is a great deal. Sure it wasn't fancy, but bed was good, dishwasher, fridge, washer dryer all worked. Had things like rice cooker and coffee pot we used lots. Stove and microwave worked good. Shower old tile but clean, slightly damaged fixtures but they worked. NO AC but we didn't mind as nice breeze flows from bedroom to living room being on the 6th floor. We didn't expect anything fancy and it was not fancy but we did expect it to be functional and clean and for the most part it was. There were dust bunnies under the dressers we had to move due to item falling behind it, but no cockroaches, no stinky things. What we didn't like- 10am check out time sucks. It should be noon. Also pull out bed mattress needs replacing. TV's and cable were hard to figure out to be sure. We have stayed here before and know it is well kept property with good security, beautiful landscaping, good parking, great location, fantastic views from 6th floor. We love this place for the price we got it at it was the ONLY deal left on maui. Everything else in Hawaii has gone crazy in price including 150 resort fees at hotels for one night, and 9$ for a loaf of bread?!!! Taxes and resort fees, and restaurant and food prices have made Kihei VERY EXPENSIVE. Our Condo was a fair price and we really appreciate that. NOTHING ELSE IN HAWAII IS PRICED FAIRLY THESE DAYS, so we will probably go to Fiji next trip, but we could not complain about the condo. Pool bbq's are good, pools good, parking good. Easy to get to. There are nicer places around but for the price this place can not be beat as far as this cowboy is concerne

Aloha Maui beautiful view

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
