What a gem! Impeccably clean and the cutest decor, it was a joy even to just hang out and we were happy to return to the property each time we left. We had the best time staying in the Clubhouse while in town for a wedding and fit our small family perfectly with the pull out couch and one bedroom. Already planning a return trip with extended family and friends soon. Thanks for being our home for a few days!
Homemade rustic French bread (that made awesome French toast for breakfast), a bowl of chocolates & fresh flower arrangement greeted us at this beautifully decorated cottage. Very comfortable bed & fluffy towels. Private beachfront for hours of rock hunting, swimming & nightly bonfires. Enjoyed short drive to historic Calumet where we immersed ourselves in its mining history & culture.
Property mgr quickly responded to needs.
Would have liked to have some folding chairs to use on beach ( we did not bring any). Bathroom really needs a brighter light fixture.
Weâd highly recommend NorthShore cottages to friends & family
This is the cutest little place. Perfect for a small family. The house was hard to find with the GPS not working as great since service is hit or miss. After 40 min going up and down the street we asked some ladies walking and they pointed us in the right direction. The lake isnât to far down a little walkway, however⊠the black flies made it hard to enjoy the outdoors, locals said they arenât usually as bad in July⊠but I have never been to the U.P. Now I know and will use that info for next time. The AC worked but the button wouldnât let you turn it cooler. Luckily the evenings were chilly and the temp in the house was tolerable. The sunsets there are to die for. Rock hunting on the beach was also amazing. We enjoyed a bonfire and spent a few hours exploring the town of Calumet just 3-5 miles away. Cute place and would stay here again.
The âClubhouse â was a cozy cottage. Nice porch to sit on. The location by the lake was awesome. Perfect for our vacation plans. Relaxing place to come back at the end of the day.
Quaint little cabin with an excellent view of Lake Superior. The eclectic decor was perfect for giving it that âclubhouseâ feel.
We spent our days hiking and touring the Keweenaw Peninsula. Our evenings were spent on the beach watching sunsets, walking and sitting by the fire. So this cozy cabin was perfect for relaxing at the end of a busy day.
The place was so beautiful even covered in several feet of snow! Great ambiance. The drive was plowed out so we had no problems getting in. It had everything we needed. A short drive from town. Weâll be back in the summer!
The cabin was well decorated, in a good location, and had an a very nice bed to sleep in (Tempur Pedic I think). The TV had a Roku which I used every night and they provided some snacks and water which was nice. Some negatives were that there wasn't a lot of lighting, there wasn't a skillet, and there wasn't a large pot (for Spaghetti, etc.). We ended up driving to Walmart to get these kitchen items so the good news is that we left them behind so they will be there from now on.
We came up in the beginning of November and this place is all we needed. We went out to eat once and hiked a little but ultimately stayed in the cabin and walked the shoreline. We watched the stars at night and had a fire. The cabin was so comfortable and had everything you need for accommodations along with large windows overlooking the lake while you relax on the couch. The owner is prompt in responses and linens and wifi are provided. We canât wait to come back this winter for another getaway.
This property was very nice. Short walk to the beach made it easy to go look for rocks and driftwood on Lake Superior and just take a walk. Was a short drive to Houghton and copper harbor about a half hour for either. The inside was set up very nice as well. Had everything we needed.
Would definitely stay again.
We loved our short vacation to this rental for our anniversary. We read sunsets are a must see, so every night we went down to the beach, made a fire pit from the rocks on shore and used driftwood to have a fire. We didnât have much luck with the Northern Lights BUT seeing the Milky Way was incredible, much more visible than down south. The house was very clean and comfortable. We loved sitting out on the deck at night with the string lights lit up. Town is a very short drive. Didnât get to use the Sauna but we hope to next time! A few fun places within an hour Prospectors Paradise, Brockway Mountain Drive, McLain State Park and Horseshoe Bay. The house comes with all amenities. Philip helped let us use his air compressor for our bikes. Overall loved this experience and hope to be back soon!
This was my second stay at this resort, only in a different cottage. This is a very relaxing environment on Lake Superior yet close enough to whatever else you may need or want to explore. The host is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns. The property is well maintained and our cottage was clean, comfortable and inviting. We enjoyed having our own fire pit and the wifi is secure and reliable. Wifi calling works well. Plenty of beach access and places to just sit and relax. The bed was very comfortable and there is a screen on the atrium door in the bedroom. The main room has a ceiling fan, however the windows do not open and there was no screen door on the main entrance so it was a bit difficult to cool down the main area. The big windows do offer a lovely view of the fairytale type path and Lake Superior. The deck is a great place to have meals. There is a wonderful skylight above the sink in the bathroom that offers natural light during the day. The bathroom is small, however very adequate to ones needs. If you are large or extra tall the shower may be an adventure, however for average sized individuals it is just fine and has a wonderful rainshower head in it. Once again, thank you Philip! I will be back, hopefully soon!
This property is one of five or six rental units on a private lot with its own gorgeous beach. The owner is militant about keeping non-renters off the beach, so we had plenty of space to ourselves. The house is not right on the water, as it sits at the back of the property, but the water is visible and the beach just a 2-minute walk away. We watched some amazing sunsets over the lake. The property is far enough from town that we didn't hear traffic or sirens, but close enough that we could get take-out from a local restaurant and it was still hot when we got back to the house.
The house itself is tiny; although the description says it sleeps four, anything more than two would be cramped. The house is also very full of knick-knacks, which do get in the way; as one other reviewer mentioned, there isn't much room left over for the guest to put their own things. The kitchen was small but fairly well stocked. The shower is also tiny. We didn't have hot water the first morning we were there, but the owner was prompt about addressing the problem. The bed is comfortable, and everything was clean.
The house does not have much ventilation. The front door does not have a screen door, so we could not leave it open (flies and mosquitoes). There are two floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, but they do not open. The only operable window is in the bedroom, which also has an exterior door with a screen door. The living room got stuffy while we were cooking, and could be uncomfortably warm on a hot day. The lighting is also an issue; the living room lights are dim, and there is only one movable lamp. The bedroom does not currently have bedside lamps; one was missing and the other, while present, didn't work. The owner could also improve the description of amenities on VRBO; we couldn't tell from the description whether there was a grill so we brought our own, but found out that there is a nice gas grill on site.
Overall, we liked the place and would stay again.
This was our third stay at North Shore Cottages and we still love it! This was our first time staying in this cabin and it did not disappoint. Just like all the cabins, everything you could need to lock yourself in for a week is provided. (Thereâs even a crock pot in the kitchen!) The decor is nautical themed and gives the perfect ambiance for the Lake Superior setting. Philip is a great host! He lives on the property, but is not intrusive at all. He responds almost immediately to any questions you may have. WiFi is available and you can make calls through WiFi calling, otherwise there is no cell service. There are paths along the property to the beach, which makes for great agate hunting (which we LOVE doing) without the crowds of public beaches. You are only a 5 minute drive from Calumet where there are great local shops and a great grocery store as well. It is a great location if you want to explore all that the Keweenaw has to offer! We canât wait until our stay next year!!
We had a great stay in the cabin, it was the perfect size for us, really clean and really, really well done. Access to the beach and outside seating were great. All the details in the cabin really go a long way, no complaints at all with our stay, would absolutely recommend.
This cabin looks wonderful in the photos but difficult to live in
Difficult to find two walkers gave me direction. When I walked into the cabin I expected to find something there with my name then I would know I was in the correct cabin. The cabin goes by the Clubhouse the verbo name is Lux cabin
There were so many antique item around that it was difficult to find a place for my things
My SO and I stayed at the clubhouse in January of 2019 and it was so peaceful and relaxing. We had a few minor hiccups (as to expect with the -18° night they had before we got there) but Phil was super accommodating. We will definitely be back...just probably in the summer!
