Very nice view of lake, sandy beachOwners next door (20 feet) when thereNo canoe or paddle boat in listing, but had 2 kayaks. Had bee issue in cabin owners addressed⊠but was issue most of trip.Grill was marginal and filthy, wouldnât work one day until we fixed itâŠfixed backed up sink as unusable in bathroom.Neighbors were very nice.
We stayed for the last week in July and had a very nice time. The cottage was as described and cozy. The swimming area was great. We were in the water almost every day. We went horseback riding at 'Rockin L Ranch' along with several other activities nearby. Owners were very friendly and easy to communicate with.
Everything was wonderful, Kay and Dave are the most gracious host, always making sure we had everything we needed. The only thing I would suggest is a different fire pit as the portable one is a bit flimsy and does not hold much wood. We will definitely be staying again as long as they will have us!
Thanks so much to Kay and Dave for providing such a relaxing venue to enjoy our summer vacation. The cottage was clean and well stocked with all the necessities for our stay. We highly recommend spending the extra money to rent the pontoon......helped to give a wonderful prospective to one of Michigans beautiful in-land lakes! Thanks again, from Kyle, Kerri, and Lauren.
The quaint cabin, though not large, easily accommodated our extended family get-together. Most family members came and went for a day or two at a time, but even when 10 of us stayed overnight there was plenty of room.
Kay allowed us use of bicycles, kayaks and the paddle boat while we were there. The cabin was fully stocked with towels and blankets, a small heater and multiple fans. It was very comfortable.
The neighbors were very kind and went out of their way to make sure we had the best time possible.
The lake was perfect for everything from swimming to skiing. Exactly as described!
Property location is good and easy to find. Swimming area is great. We enjoyed sitting on the deck by the swimming area as parts of it is shaded so you have the option of sun or shade. Owners are very friendly, easy to contact and very responsive. They were upfront about the French drain in the kitchen and explained it to us. They also provided a lovely gift basket upon arrival. The cottage doorways were a little low for my husband who is 6â4ââ as he had to duck under them. Overall we had a very nice stay.
Beautiful cabin overlooking the lake with gorgeous sunsets. The cabin was cozy with 10 of us (5 adults and 5 kids ages 2-11). Kay and Dave were wonderful hosts- they happened to be vacationing next door the same week. The swim area is just a few steps down and the water was great- clean, clear and warm! We were hoping for a sandy beach, but we were happy with the steps that allowed entry for Nana and 2 year old. It was a warm week and we put fans to good use in the evenings. Pontoon ran smoothly for us and we brought our own boat for tubing and shared the dock. Our dog enjoyed the cabin and water life for the week also. I could do this again!
Wonderful place, owner and neighbors were friendly and nice. Enjoyed very much. If you like antiques go to Blanchard. My husband enjoyed riding his bicycle around the lake.
This is one of the most adorable cottages we have stayed at in 10 years of using VRBO. The owner has thought of everything you could imagine. The lake is terrific for kids as it is quite shallow for at least 50 feet from shore. Kay was especially helpful and provided basics like paper products, cleaning supplies and bathroom necessities. The kitchen had everything you could need but suggested that a large pot would be helpful when cooking for a crowd as we did. We had 9 guests and we were very comfortable with adequate space. If you stay in early or late season the porch area/bunk room can get chilly. We had 4 days of on and off rain and temperatures in the 60's. We would love to return with warmer temps to be able to use the lake more. Thanks for a great week!!!!
I HAVE READ ALL THE REVIEWS AND THEY ARE ACCURATE IN EVERY DETAIL. THE PICTURES ARE ACTUAL --CABIN IS EQUIPPED WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED--GOOD RESTAURANTS NEARBY--THIS WAS OUR SECOND TIME THERE AND HAVE BOOKED STAY FOR 2017. KAY AND DAVE ARE THE MOST WONDERFUL HOSTS YOU COULD ASK FOR.
SEE YOU IN JULY!!!
The owner's description of the property was accura
We arrived at the Hankus Rustic Cabin in June, to find a clean and orderly cabin. Well maintained, comfortable, well equipped home away from home. We had a nice week there. Our grandchildren absolutely loved the paddle boat, swimming and fishing. The Hankus couple were very welcoming and accommodating. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything I needed. Our stay was fantastic. We hope to return for another home away from home vacation soon. I would recommend this cabin to our friends and family. Glad that we found this cabin for a rental for ourselves and family for our vacation. Thank you for allowing us to rent your comfortable home.
We had a very nice vacation at the log cabin.
Everything we needed was provided.
I cannot think of anything that was missing.
We enjoyed the "Old" log cabin very much.
Thanks for a great vacation!
Absolutely amazing week! Kids enjoyed swimming, fishing and boating. Extremely friendly and generous owners and neighbors. Forgot the kids' bikes, but had plenty of which to choose. Would definitely return. More than enough room for everyone.
Having just returned from the cabin at Eight Point Lake, we couldn't recommend it enough! Kay and Dave are such warm, welcoming hosts. The cabin is quaint, well cared for, and literally steps to the lake, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. As promised, everything you could possibly need is available to use inside and out! We enjoyed the hospitality of the locals as we walked and biked around the lake. Make sure to visit Heaven Scent Herb Company for unique gifts, clothing and gourmet food items! We also enjoyed Cops and Doughnuts in Clare. Kay has a helpful book of local restaurants as well as things to see and do. This was a much needed, perfect little getaway! Reserve your time quickly for next year, as it's booking up fast!
We had a very relaxing week at the cabin on Eight Point lake. It was our first visit and it was as advertised. It is clean, very comfortable and dog friendly.(Heidi loved it!) It comes with everything you need for your stay. Kay and Dave were great hosts and we have a reservation for next summer. We can't wait!
Kay Hankus was very welcoming. She provided a book with a lot of information about the area that was very helpful. I would recommend this property to anyone, as long as they did not try to take my week. Swimming, fishing, boating are some of the wonderful things to do. We chose to cook at home and not miss a moment on the lake. On the way home we went to the Lumberjack Festival in Farwell and had a great time.
