Little ones will love The Big Sheep & Little Cow, a family-friendly farm attraction. For more shopping and dining, head to Thirsk (14 miles) or Richmond (16 miles). At Thorp Perrow (2.5 miles), there’s a renowned arboretum as well as a bird of prey centre. The Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors are both within 20 miles.

This room connects to the kitchen/diner, where a traditionally styled table and chairs take pride of place for celebratory feasts together. Doors from the kitchen open to the conservatory, a delightful spot in which to hang out and enjoy tranquil views over the verdant garden towards pastureland. The versatile super-king-size room has zip-and-link beds to create a twin if requested in advance, and is complemented by a double and a single bedroom. From the conservatory, steps lead down to the large back garden, which has a stream running through it with a footbridge crossing it. With so much space to run and play, children and pets will love this outdoor area, though do keep an eye on them near the stream. If you feel like grilling a delicious treat to savour in the fresh air, buy some local produce on your travels and make the most of the BBQ provided. As a bonus, a sweeping driveway at the front of the property offers off-street parking for up to three cars.
