We had a great time. The cabin was very clean and it was pretty well stocked. The porches could have used a good sweep to get rid of the spiders and webs but to be far, we are in the woods. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean. Great place for a sibling get together.
We had a great labor day weekend trip in Gatlinburg! The cabin was very large and well appointed, the kids had a great time as well. The hot tub was great as well and my wife and daughters loved it. Everyone also loved seeing the bears. So Many Bears!! We saw more bears around the cabin then we have ever seen in our many smokies trips. On more than one occasion they were within feet of us!
My family wasnât happy with the cleanliness of the cabin! There were dead bugs, spiders, and cob-webs everywhere. We had to get ahold of the owner to clean for us again and bring fresh towels since some of the dead bugs were on the towels. The cabin wasnât what we pictured it to be! There are cabins all around it on a cliff side. On a different note we did see bears every day around the cabin and on the deck (blocking us in the cabin for a while) but you can clearly see that the people are feeding the bears around those cabins which they shouldnât. Regardless we didnât let the disappoint of the cabin prevent our family from having a good time!
The property was a bit run down and there was no yard whatsoever BUT we saw bear everyday. The hot tub was great!! The housekeeper, Sissy was amazing!! The toaster was broken and she brought a new one in a jiffy. The windy road is breathtaking. I did wish we had a view from the porch but when we were in the driveway we could see the mountain view beautifully.
This was the second time weâve stayed at Echo Place and could not have asked for a better host, house or location. Jay answered questions quickly and the house was perfect for our needs. Easy access to the park as well as downtown. We saw 9 bears this trip, including 4 cubs! A family of barred owls also stopped by on our last day! We will definitely stay here again in the future!
âŠAnd we loved being back! You canât find a better vacation home than Echo Place for beautiful views, comfortable rooms, and bear encounters. The bears stayed away for a couple of days, then finally emerged. My husband had an âup closeâ encounter with one bear that came right up to the house. Later, we forgot to lock the car (our bad!) and found in the morning that a bear had rummaged through it. Fortunately no car damage, but heed the warnings and lock those cars, folks! We love Echo Place and you will, too. The layout of the home is perfect for couples / small groups; plenty of room to visit while still having your own private space. Love the hot tub, the cozy kitchen (with everything you need for cooking) and the wonderful deck for relaxing in the mountain air. Book this place TODAY - you wonât be sorry. To quote Ahhh-nold: âIâll be back!â
We enjoyed our time at this property. The owner answered prompt to our questions. The home was clean and had everything you could need. Our kids loved the air hockey table and other games provided.
Nice family vacation. Cute cabin with plenty of beds for the entire family. My teens enjoyed the game room and hot tub, and that there is a tv in every room! Wifi was good too. The beds were very comfortable! I've been to some vrbo's that have had horrible beds, so i was pleasantly surprised!!
My family had fun in the gameRoom and making memories in this house. Bears are definitely active around the property . Secure vehicles tight . We enjoyed relaxing in the house after long days at Dollywood. Comfortable and plenty of room .
House was clean, well equipped, game room and shuffle board were great. Our teenagers loved them. Communication with owner was excellent. Conveniently located near downtown Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Smokey Mts. Natl. Park. Parts of the house are a bit dated.
Our family of 4 spent 4 nights here. This is our second family trip to the area but we stayed in Sevierville last year. We didnt see any bears.Pros: 3 comfortable beds (and a bunk bed) 3 bath. Great Hot tub. Deck with a view (Mostly woods and neighbors). Clean (a few cobwebs downstairs but nothing terrible). Comfortable. Homey. Close to downtown Gatlinburg. Wifi. Roku. Easy parking right in front of home. Foosball, air hockey, shuffle board table, & poker table available. Cons: Steep road to cabin (freaked me out). Lower and upper decks and adirondack chairs could use a good power washing.Bring coffee, creamer, sugar. Bring laundry soap. Bring beach towels (for hot tub). If you want paper plates bring them but kitchen is stocked with plates, silverware, pots and pans. Hot Tub is downstairs- as long as everyone can walk up & down stairs everything will be fine.Overall loved the place but wouldn't stay here again only because of the steep road to the cabin. I'm from Michigan (a flatlander) and it's simply not my thing. The road is probably not bad to anyone from here- but I am not and it was our first time staying in Gatlinburg. I purposely avoided listings where reviews indicated steep roads but this one didn't so I'm just giving my personal opinion on that! I now understand if you're staying anywhere in Gatlinburg that's not downtown you're going UP! So much to do for everyone close by!!
Cabin was nice and overall pretty clean. Very good location, only about 5 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg. Some updates could be done to make it a little better but overall it was a good cabin!
Has everything that you need to spend vacation with your family clean cozy comfortable relaxation and entertaining games jacuzzi looks small but it's big inside with all you need highly recommend
Thanks to all of the space and amenities in this house, the only time we left was to go skiing at Ober, which was incredibly close. We have gone on many trips over all the country, this was by far the best experience we have had and are looking forward to returning with our whole gang!
Jay is a retired Air Force officer and currently works as a contractor at Shaw AFB, SC. Jay went to Architecture school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he and Susan fell in love with the Smoky Mountains area during weekend getaways. Susan owns a home daycare center and has provided childcare all over the world as the Air Force moved us from place to place to include Japan, Germany, and a myriad of stateside assignments. We have five children and the cabin has provided a wonderful place for our family gatherings.
We bought this cabin because it was so close to Gatlinburg and it was nestled in the woods just the way we wanted. Zero steps to main level, easy access drive, and plenty of parking. Winter mountain views and seeing the Ober Gatlinburg Tram is really cool. We've spent the last couple years remodeling and putting our special touch on the place. We've already had lots of memorable outings with friends and family in our home away from home.
