Walk or swim from the safety of Dovercourt beach, accessed 150 metres from the property, where dogs are welcome year round on some parts. For families, there is a boating lake, adventure playground, football field, skate-park and outdoor roller-skating rink within 0.25 miles. For history enthusiasts, Dovercourt and Harwich enjoy a rich maritime history. The Harwich Redoubt Fort, 1 mile away, offers interactive military and social history, or visit the Light ship LV18, associated with the floating Pirate radio station. Take the passenger ferry to Landguard or Shotley, or join a seal watching trip. Further afield, the Stour Estuary, 6 miles away, is the perfect spot for walking, cycling and birdwatching. The traditional seaside towns of Clacton-On-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze, as well as the city of Colchester and Constable Country, can be found within 20 miles.
