The Space:
Welcome to the Artistâs Studio in Frome, a unique and characterful retreat with plenty of charm. Annexed to the main house and originally built by a local artist as her creative space, this beautiful studio now offers guests a stylish and peaceful escape. With its high ceilings, exposed oak beams, and warm wooden cladding, the space blends rustic character with a serene, cabin-like feel.
Inside, the open-plan studio is bright and airy, featuring a comfortable king-size bed, a sofa/sofa bed for extra flexibility, and a dining area. Sleeping up to 3 guests. The original butler sink, once used by the artist to rinse her brushes, has been preserved as a quirky reminder of the studioâs history. Next door, youâll find a handy utility room with kitchenette facilities, as well as a modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower.
Large windows look out onto the patio, country garden, and a magnificent old apple tree â believed to be one of the areaâs oldest. Itâs the perfect spot to relax with a morning coffee or evening drink while soaking in the tranquillity of the setting.
The Artistâs Studio is just a short stroll from Fromeâs independent shops, cafĂ©s, restaurants, and the famous Catherine Hill boutiques. Guests also benefit from a dedicated parking space, making it convenient for exploring both the town and the wider Somerset countryside.
Blending creativity and comfort, the Artistâs Studio is a memorable retreat for couples, small groups or solo travellers seeking a unique stay in one of Somersetâs most vibrant towns.
Guest Access:
Guests will have private access to the whole studio. It is annexed to the main house and has its own access via the garden gate.
The Neighborhood:
The Artist's Studio in Frome offers a wonderful base to enjoy this creative, historic, and much-loved Somerset town. Frome is brimming with independent spirit, buzzing markets, and beautiful countryside all around.
On the first Sunday of each month, the famous Frome Independent Market takes over the town with artisan food, handmade crafts, vintage treasures, and live music, just a short walk down to Catherine Hill. Thereâs also a regular weekly market in Market Yard on Wednesdays and Saturdays, perfect for local produce and browsing. For food and drink, Lotteâs bar and restaurant is always popular for its warm hospitality (booking recommended), while Rye Bakery at the Chapel or Train Station offers delicious pastries, bread, and coffee.
History lovers will enjoy a 5-minute drive to Nunney Castle, where you can wander the ruins before enjoying a meal at The George pub. For sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, a walk up Cley Hill is highly recommended. Fromeâs quirky charm continues at Frome Reclamation Yard, filled with everything from garden statues to antique furniture.
Further afield, the city of Bath is just over half an hour away by car or bus, with its Roman Baths, Georgian architecture, and world-class shopping. For art and gardens, the internationally renowned Hauser & Wirth Somerset in Bruton is only 20 minutes away. And for a truly iconic day trip, Stonehenge lies just 40 minutes away.
