We loved our getaway here! The cabin was super clean and had kayaks, a canoe and rowboat that we used to explore the lake and also get to the other side to hike the sand dune at sunset (highly recommend!) Put kids loved biking on the road and we were close enough to raft Box Canyon one afternoon. Burt was great on sending information prior to our arrival and also calling to discuss. This was one of our favorite cabins we’ve rented! Hopefully we will be back!
Awesome as usual
We had a most wonderful, peaceful week at this cabin. We have stayed here several times. Mr Butler was very accommodating and great to work with. The lake, the isolation and the beautiful scenery make this a great retreat.
Off the beaten path
This is a beautiful and secluded property. Lake views from three sides. Everything from paper towels to first aid supplies provided. If you are renting a car, do not rent a minivan! You have about 5-6 miles on a dirt road (took about 20-30 minutes in a minivan but the trucks zoomed right past us!) Stayed with my family of five (kids 6,9,13) who absolutely loved the tiny boat (carried up to 130 lbs) provided because they could paddle around the shore by themselves (with adult waiting at he shore just in case!) Would definitely rent again but would rent a suburban. (Also visited the Tetons and drove on dirt roads in the park. Missed having our truck at home!)
Interesting comments on driving to the cabin comparing truck versus a minivan. Definitely 6 miles of gravel road if you drive from Ashton, and 12 miles of gravel road in you take Sandcreek road from St. Anthony. Over the years I generally drove old trucks - 1984 F 150, 1984 Dodge Ramcharger, and 1990 Toyota 4 Runner, and now a 2011 Ford F150. I always thought it was easier and faster when I drove my Honda Civic, Honda CRV, or my Subaru Forester even when compared to my newer Ford F150 - for what it is worth.
Water Fun & Sand Dunes
We are repeat vacationers at this cabin because we love this property. Our kids play in the water (on provided kayaks, canoes and row boat) the majority of the time. The rest of the time, they are ATV-ing the sand dunes in the area. Plus we always go to West Yellowstone for a day which is less than an hour away. Cabin has enough beds and the amenities we need to have a fun get-a-way.
My father and I stayed at Burt’s cabin and it was awesome! Burt was a great host and a nice guy. The cabin was clean roomy and right on the lake. It was a fishing trip, and the lake provided excellent angling. The cabin is located in a great spot close (50 to 70 miles)to the Grand Teton’s and Yellowstone. Ashton is a nice little town as well. Just hanging out at the cabin is relaxing. I trail run, and there are a lot of trails around the lake to explore. I loved it so much I am coming back in September with my wife!
Flew all the way from Maine to visit, and left the cabin immaculate upon departure. Thank you.
