The railway station is directly below the apartment. This wasn't noted or listed and wasn't shown in the photo's. I was really disappointed that this wasn't made clear. The space also looks more new and fresh in the photos than it really is. The space is functional and generally clean, but things were old, dated and partially broken. I think the price didn't match what we paid for. The view from the balcony was amazing though, that was the biggest highlight.
DO NOT STAYThe check-in process was a nightmare. Their website is confusing and glitchyâit took me almost an hour to complete something that should have been quick and simple. The space itself was reasonably clean, but we did find dead bugs on the nightstands, which was unsettling. The shower was another major issue: although the water was hot, the drain was clogged, forcing us to shut the water off every two minutes just to avoid flooding. The host was unresponsive. We messaged multiple times about the problems and never received a reply, eventually giving up.The location is about a 10-minute walk to the beach, but be aware that the route in both directions involves uphill and downhill sections, which may not be ideal for everyone.Overall, the combination of a broken check-in system, lack of host communication, and unresolved maintenance issues made this a very frustrating stay.
We had a lovely stay in Cinque Terre using the apartment in Monterosso as our base. The apartment was very central, which was super. However, the flat itself was a tired in terms of decor and there didnât ever seem to be enough hot water for two showers! The most challenging aspect of the position of the apartment was that it was right beside the railway line with trains travelling at all times of the day and night. The freight trains in particular were extremely loud! I am a good sleeper so I was fine but my husband had very disrupted sleep the whole time we were there. The owner is obviously not responsible for this but it is worth making this very clear to any prospective visitors. Finally, communication was a little bit slow at times with a couple of phone calls from us not being picked up at all. (Maybe it is a particularly busy time for the agents.)None of these observations listed stopped us from having a lovely time in Monterosso but just want to be honest. I have never made such negative comments before on Vrbo and donât like doing so!
