Owner was great to deal with whom we also had the opportunity to meet. Nice guy. Sadly, no fault of Mitch, we were victim of a larceny from inside a locked storage shed hallway. Police are involved and their are cameras so time will tell if anything develops. House was
Very convenient location, less than 10 min drive to campus. Sidewalk to walk dog and walking path along the river is nearby. Well stocked with basic supplies. Would stay here again.
This home was the perfect accommodation for us as we moved our daughter to grad school. While we only used the home for sleep and showers, everything we could have needed appeared to be there. The location was perfect as it was right near OU! Mitch was very responsive to any questions I had. I will definitely rebook this home for future visits to Athens!
The property is great for access to Ohio University events. Well stocked kitchen, clean and comfortable beds, and living area is relaxing. Loved the front porch on the warm night. Owner very responsive to any questions or issues.
Great place to stay. Was overflow house for wedding guests from son's house nearby. Very comfortable and kitchen great for extra party food prep. Would like to stay again, when more space needed for family visits.
Only negative was all the spider webs and spiders covering the porch furniture and entire porch ceiling. We used the porch a ton, so knocking all the webs and active spiders down was not fun. Otherwise, perfect!
The house is very lovely and accommodated our family nicely. It is an older house, but we loved the charm. What we did not love is a family of raccoons apparently living in the house with us.
The first night we thought they were outside on the roof of the adjoining storage unit. However, the second night my daughter was in the upstairs bedroom and saw one of them running in the vents.
Unfortunately, do to the noise and chaos no one in my family got a good nights rest. I sent an email to the property manager, but never received a response. It was later in the evening, but no one responded the next day either.
Your hosts, Ann and Mitch are both Ohio University graduates. They met in Athens at school, married and raised 3 kids here and have 4 grand children here. Ann is a retired special education teacher and Mitch runs several local businesses. Athens Furniture, across from the city pool on East State Street and Athens Storage, a large local mini storage business are two of them. They also have 7 short term rentals, Richland avenue being one of them. Ann and Mitch give back to the community by rescuing historic houses that are down on their luck and completely re-modeling them. This might include a new roof, foundation, plumbing, wiring, heating/air, you name it. The Richland house is a historic Sears kit house that was brought in by train and constructed around 1920. Once a run down student rental, the house now shines. Along with new furniture and super comfy mattresses, it is a 5 star find that people love, just read the reviews!
