Beautiful 2 Bedroom Refurbished Gite in Rural Normandy
Set in a rural hamlet is this beautiful 2 bedroom barn conversion, a perfect place for you to relax and unwind on your holiday with a beautiful garden and countryside views.
The gite is perfectly placed to explore the beautiful surroundings in this gorgeous region of Normandy.
The house has been refurbished by the new owner and offers you a fully equipped kitchen with large dining table, bench seating and chairs. The kitchen is equipped with an under counter fridge (with a box freezer), electric oven with gas hob and a microwave. From the kitchen an exterior door takes you out to the rear terrace where there is full private use of a table and chairs with parasol for the sunny days. There is a bbq available on request. From the terrace you can access an outside utility room with a toilet, hand basin, freezer and washing machine.
From the kitchen the interior door takes you to the large entrance hallway with stairs leading to the bedrooms and bathroom.
The lounge is to the other side of the hallway and is double aspect with large windows and doors which offer views of the rolling countryside and back garden. The living room seats 6 with 2 sofas and a chair. For those cosy nights there is a wood burning fire and a television with English Freeview channels, please note there is no French television. Wifi is available and is offered through Starlink.
Upstairs there is one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and an ample sized bathroom.
The double bedroom has a bed measuring 140 x 190, a double wardrobe, chest of drawers, with bedside tables. The bedroom has ample space for a travel cot - available on request.
The twin bedroom has 2 single beds measuring 90 x 190 with a tallboy wardrobe. The bedroom has ample space for an occasional extra bed - this can be provided on request.
The bathroom is of a large size and has a shower cubicle, w.c, wash basin and heated towel rail.
To the rear of the property is guest parking, a garden with clothes line and terrace for outdoor dining.
The front of the property is laid to lawn and gently rolls down towards the owners property. The owner lives on site in this house and will be available for any assistance or information you may require during your stay.
To access the property from the top of the lane you will pass through the farm and drive to the very top of the lane. Here you will find the property on your left through the set of double gates. The drive is shared by guests and the owner. The owners house is to the left of the gate and the gite straight ahead with a parking space at the rear of the property, follow the drive round to the back of the gite for guest parking - please note do not block the garage doors.
The nearest town with all amenities including a number of supermarkets, bakery, bars, gas station, restaurants and antiquities is Sourdeval which is located just 6km from the property.
There are many villages and towns in the region that are well worth a visit but here are a few of our favourites -
Cherence (3km) - is a small village with brocantes, a bar and a pizza place.
Mortain is located 11km away which is known for its French Renaissance architecture and home to the Grand and Petit Cascades (waterfalls).
Vire (19km) - An ancient walled city built in the 12th century, with castle and small museum. Its well worth climbing the turret to see the surrounding views.
Saint - Hilaire du Harcouet (21km) - is a bustling market town (markets on Wednesday's) which dates back to 1083. You will find independent shops, schools, swimming pool, cinema and a beautiful park to explore with a picture perfect lake. In the summer, there are inflatables for the children to play on and in November they host the oldest fair of the region dating back to 1323.
Villedieu les Poeles - (30km) is known as the city of copper and is a beautiful preserved medieval town.
Avranches (33km) with cobbled lanes, gardens and picturesque squares is also home to the manuscripts from Mont Saint-Michel. Head to the beautiful Jardin des Plantes for a breath taking view of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel.
Le Mont Saint Michel (48km) is a must visit for the region with access depending on tide times. Here you will find a small island steeped in history with the most incredible views. Its one of the most famous sites in France.
Fougeres (49km) - has one of the most imposing French castles rich in heritage that spans over 1000 years.
Granville (56) - a seaside resort, market and harbour town. The old walled harbour stands above the town while the lower town hosts the beach and promenade.
The ports of Ouistreham (Caen) 95km and Saint Malo 94km have ferries arriving from England and Cherbourg 144km has ferries arriving from the UK and Ireland.

Vous ĂȘtes reçu par Karen Livings

Our roots are in the Welsh mountains, travelling extensively and living across the world France is now our home.
Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
This area of France offers the familiarity of some of our favourite places that we've lived. From the lush green surroundings to the small towns and villages steeped in history. We love the endless blue skies with late summer nights and the contrast of the winter months with the shorter days (still blue skies) and snow.
Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
The gite itself has many original features from the barn it once was. As a barn it housed the cattle with the feeding trough still in the kitchen underneath the bench seating.
The property is perfect for anyone who wants to either get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life or anyone who just needs a quiet family filled break with lots of outdoor space to play and relax.
The immediate surrounding area lends itself well to walkers, cyclists and to anyone who just wants to spend a little more time with nature.
