We had a wonderful stay at Serendipity in southwest Normandy. The house was absolutely spotless, beautifully decorated, and full of character. The peaceful gardens were a delight to wake up to and made for a relaxing place to unwind after sightseeing. The location couldnât have been betterâwithin easy reach of Mont St Michel, the Normandy beaches, and historic Bayeux. Domfront, the nearest town, had everything we needed including a supermarket and a cafe right in the middle of town overlooking the medieval city walls. Donât miss a visit to the nearby village of Lonlay-lâAbbayeâboth picturesque and home to the delightful Biscuiterie de LâAbbaye, where we stocked up on treats.Mike and Lyn were exceptional hosts, greeting us warmly with local cider and fresh milk for that much-needed cup of tea after our drive from Paris. Their hospitality truly made the stay even more special.Highly recommendedâwe would return in a heartbeat!
Hi. Mike & Lyn here. We're both from Manchester originally but we met in Blackpool where Lyn was a Hotel Landlady. I was the Estate Agent selling her hotel and, naturally she fell in love with me!!!! We've been together for 25 years and have lived in France for most of that time. We've renovated quite a few properties here in France and 'SERENDIPITY' is the latest one. We work well as a team, with me doing all the work and Lyn taking all the praise lol. We have rented out gites for many years now and it's probably fair to say that we do it rather well. We've had 5 star reviews throughout from our previous ones and we intend to ensure that the trend continues with 'SERENDIPITY'.
We had sold our gite business and we moved into our farmhouse. I thought that I had retired but 6 months later Lyn announced that she wanted a little bit more than just gardening so we went in search of a new 'project' with the intention of opening a new gite! That's the problem isn't it? Once it's in your blood you can't stop! We saw loads of properties which were lovely but as soon as we spotted 'SERENDIPITY' we new it was the right one. I remember travelling down the lane behind the Estate Agent and when we saw the house I said to Lyn "If that's it we're having it". It was and we did!
The location of the house is what really did it for us. The isolation and peace & quiet is just wonderful. I spent many months working there every day (sometimes alone) and I loved it, and still do. The fact that you can be there and hear absolutely NOTHING man made, just the birds singing, the buzz of the bees and the occasional mooing of the cows is so hard to come by these days and to us is priceless. The reality is that it's not that isolated as the village is just a short walk away but it certainly feels like it is. The garden at the front is lovely (that's Lyn's efforts!) and the huge rear garden with unrestricted views gives you a feeling of space and peace! It's just lovely!
