Host & Stay | Rose Cottage
Summary:
Located on the edge of the Northumberland National Park in the hamlet of Thropton, Rose Cottage is a characterful stone-built cottage. Just a short walk to the locally popular Three Wheat Heads Inn, the property has plenty to offer right on its doorstep. Lovingly renovated to a high standard, this beautiful cottage sleeps three guests across two bedrooms with a lounge/dining area and kitchen, while the property also boasts a shower room making it a perfect choice for relaxing getaways.
The Space:
The cosy living area has a comfy leather sofa and a flat screen TV, and also a woodburning stove for those cold Northumberland winter nights. After a busy day, you can kick back on the sofa and keep up with your favourite shows on Freeview or streaming apps. Also sharing this space is the dining area which features a solid wooden table and matching padded chairs.
Rose Cottage boasts a stunning high shine, white coloured kitchen which is fully equipped for self-catering staycations. Here you can make the most of all the modern appliances on offer including an oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and separate freezer.
Rose Cottage has two beautiful bedrooms. The master bedroom has storage space aplenty and a comfortable king size bed, decked out in plush bedding and premium bed linens to ensure you have a great nightâs sleep.
The second bedroom has a single bed with stunning views across the Thropton rooftops and over to the moorland in the distance. While not as large as the master bedroom, still offers a cosy night's sleep in lavish bedding, while youâll be able to store your belongings in the built-in wardrobe.
The family bathroom has a large walk-in shower, WC and wash basin, along with a heated towel rail, bathroom cabinet and shaving mirror.
A door from the kitchen opens out onto the private garden which showcases peace and tranquillity. Take a seat on the grassed area and enjoy the sounds of the countryside while you drink your morning coffee or treat yourself to a late tipple where you can watch the sky go dark and the clouds burn orange as evening turns to night.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property.
The keys to Rose Cottage are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided prior to check in.
Free on-street parking is available throughout Thropton on a first come, first served basis.
Whilst Rose Cottage is suitable for children and dogs, we would like to forewarn guests that the outside garden is not secure and has low walls. Guests should take extra care when staying at the property with children and dogs.
Families with young children should note that there is an escape window in the master bedroom at floor level which can be opened fully in an emergency. Children should not therefore be left unsupervised in the master bedroom.
The Neighborhood:
Thropton is a hamlet in Northumberland, located on the River Coquet, and its tributary Wreigh Burn. The hamlet is situated just two miles west of the town of Rothbury.
Rothbury is at the heart of Northumberlandâs countryside. This traditional market town is a peaceful and picturesque haven, which is built of the same mellow sandstone as the rolling hills that surround it.

Due to its location, Rothbury is an ideal base for exploring Northumberland and all it has to offer, including Simonside Hills, the Cheviot Hills, and Northumberland National Park.
Once youâve appreciated the landscape and the wildlife, you can always relax at the many shops, pubs, and tea rooms on Rothburyâs bustling high street. On a sunny day enjoy watching the world go by on the green. Visit Tullyâs which is an excellent independent grocers and delicatessen selling local produce, artisan bread, and much more.
Visit Cragside House, Gardens and Estate, an impressive Victorian building described as âa palace of the modern magicianâ. Rising from an outcrop of rocks and surrounded by towering trees, Cragside is a masterpiece of late nineteenth century architecture.
