à propos de cet hébergement
A peaceful cottage & garden near Ballydehob
At Lissaclarig Cottage, we wanted to create something different, something that feels a bit special, but at the same time feels homely. Nothing too flashy but everything done well.
Over the years, we've been collecting treasure from flea markets, antique stalls, and charity shops to fill the cottage with. Everything has been carefully considered to make sure your stay is enjoyable and relaxed. We hope you love it as much as we do.
*Please note: The cottage isn't suitable for children under 12
The space
Gardens
Outside, enjoy the morning chitter chatter of the birds nesting in the ash tree or take a wander in the walled garden and say hello to friendly cows in the neighbouring fields. The space is for you to enjoy, however that may be.
Open-plan living space
Once inside, the open-plan living space is dressed with antique furniture collected over the years, Irish wool blankets and tweed. It's the perfect spot to relax and read a book by the wood-burning stove.
Kitchen & dining space
The kitchen with natural marble countertops is fully stocked with any pots, pans, and utensils that you may need to cook up something delicious. We also provide good quality oil, salt, pepper, local coffee, and of course Barry's Tea, so you don't need to worry about packing those.
Bathroom
The newly refurbished bathroom is a true marriage of the old and the new. A rain shower, a heated towel rail, and a 1940s sink that we saved from a pub in Co. Laois.
Bedrooms
Upstairs are two generous double bedrooms and one en-suite WC. The two rooms are bridged by a pink planted mezzanine of ferns and pelargoniums, and flooded with gorgeous natural light. Both bedrooms are carefully furnished with the most comfortable beds we could find, really good cotton bed linen and bath towels, and little details like vintage wooden door handles or antique glass light shades that came from a pub in Ballydehob.
There is also a workspace hidden in a nook of one of the bedrooms so that you can catch up on any pressing emails, away from distractions.
Guest access
The cottage is yours to enjoy fully, with its own private entrance and parking.
Other things to note
Seasons at Lissaclarig Cottage
One of the things we love about living in the wilds of West Cork is that we get to observe the subtle changes that each month brings. The light moves around the cottage in different ways at different times of the year, dappling different spots. Seasonal blooms appear overnight and only stay a short while until the following year. So no matter what time you come to stay in this part of the world, there will be something to see, smell or taste.
Beginning of the year
Kale, Cavolo Nero, Daphne
Signs of spring
Wild garlic, Three cornered leek, Gorse and daffodils
First warm days
Asparagus, Rhubarb, Cornflowers
Midsummer
Strawberries, Courgettes, Montbretia
Autumn
Blackberries, Apples, Dahlias
Winter
Parsnips, Brussel sprouts, Dogwood
***House rules***
We hate to be a buzzkill but here are a couple of small but important rules to bear in mind while youâre staying at Lissaclarig Cottage:
1) Lissaclarig Cottage isnât suitable for children under the age of 12.
2) We love all animals but we donât allow pets at Lissaclarig Cottage. We have a very charming but exceptionally needy ginger cat who likes to feel like heâs king of the castle at all times. And often, there are cows in the fields next to the cottage too.
3) Thereâs no smoking allowed inside Lissaclarig Cottage. If youâre having a smoke outside, just take your butts with you. You know yourself.
4) Lissaclarig Cottage is suitable for a maximum of 4 guests.
