It was a lovely stay in this original cottage, fully equipped, comfortable furnished and decorated with care for details. It was the perfect number of rooms, especially with the separated kitchen/dining area and living room. Unfortunately we were missing a second duvet in the main bedroom.
I booked this last minute as other accommodation fell through so I expected to pay a slight premium for it being school holidays and last minute. Location was convenient for us, the bedding was clean, and the kitchen/ bathroom have been renovated but I am pretty disappointed by this stay. The house smelt faustyl. We to open all the windows when we arrived to air it out and then bought a diffuser ourselves to try to cover the smell. It seemed to be deep rooted in the living room (maybe damp?) and particularly in the soft furnishings so we didnât use this room at all. The carpet is also a tough cord and in need of more than a hoover. Really disappointing when we had to pay a fairly significant cleaning fee up front so I would have expected for the house to be equally clean for our arrival, not to come home with all of our clothes smelling like a loft. The advert also mentions parking and the follow up information provided specifically says âyou are able to park outside the cottage but be sure not to block other cars having access to the lane that runs further down from the cottage.â - fails to mention that the parking in the pub car park so parking is at your own risk. It also gets pretty full so sometimes access was limited. It also doesnât mention that this car park can be used for camping, which on the Saturday night of our stay we had people up until about 1am honking their car horn and drinking.
We loved Trecarian Cottage. It is comfortable and clean and contains all that you need for a happy holiday. The bathroom is a good size and contains a bath with shower over. The main bedroom is lovely with a wonderful comfortable bed and nice views. The garden is secure and secluded. There are two seating areas indoors - one to eat at in a conservatory and a cosier sitting room with TV. Would definitely come here again.
Emma and Sarah are the partners of The Cornish Holiday Company and have offices in Bodmin and Wadebridge so always close and on call should a guest ever need anything during their stay. We have much pleasure in hosting Trecarian as it gives visitors a true feel for living in a traditional Cornish cottage.
Trecarian is in the perfect location for discovering the rugged north Cornish Coast where there are endless walking trails waiting to be trekked. It is on the doorstep of Port Isaac, the fishing village made famous by some of the best eateries around and of course the TV series, Doc Martin. It is also close to Polzeath beach, if surfing is on your to do list whilst visiting.
