Poppy Cottage is the perfect holiday home for a romantic getaway, or a much-needed family break by the sea. Named after the familyâs beloved pet, your four legged friend can join you as well. The cottage is nestled in the pretty village of Kingsdown on the East Kent coast. It has a local store and post office, a butchers, and friendly pub. The beach is a few minutes walk away, where you will find The Zetland Arms, a lovely beach front pub that looks out onto the white cliffs. Poppy Cottage is light and bright and beautifully decorated by the owner. It has an open space ground floor with sitting room and kitchen, with a large dining table and comfortable bench seating, and outside is a lovely long, fully enclosed garden laid to lawn and part decked to form a platform for dining. Upstairs are two bedrooms and a cloakroom. From the cottage you can walk along the coastal path to Deal and Walmer in one direction and St Margaretâs Bay and Dover in the other, so plenty of things to do, places to explore and history in which to immerse yourself.
We enjoyed our stay at Poppy Cottage
Nice location although you will need to drive for shops and restaurants, two nice pub's that serve food tho.
The Cottage comfortable and well equipped but did lack some items that were listed in the inventory ie washer dryer and barbecue which apparently Keepers Cottages are not responsible for.
We were disappointed with this property. A very late and as it turned out useless attempt to sort out a washer dryer as listed really upset our enjoyment - with two very young children it was a nightmare. We would NOT have booked it if no washer dryer - we would have gone elsewhere. It was also not that clean.
The positives; the staff at Keepers have been helpful and polite at all times. They contacted us as soon the problem came to light. The problem? The website. We selected a cottage on a beech, to find, too late, that, apparently weâd booked a flat in a block in a completely different location. We feel pretty confident we know the difference between a cottage and a flat. Be aware. Unfortunately thereâs been no explanation about this, so weâre none the wiser as to how this happened. We either had to go, or pay for a whole new place. At this point we paid again for Poppy Cottage. The owners of Poppy Cottage like to turn the boiler and water mains off; so youâll be welcomed into a freezing cottage with no water until you turn it all on yourself and wait. Disappointing in the middle of winter. Thereâs no milk or anything extra just so youâre aware. Nice company, frustrating issues for us.
We enjoyed our stay here in this cosy cottage; it is conveniently located for dog walks and nice and quiet at night-time. Itâs close to some lovely pubs and a great rock-pool beach (although the tide can move fast here). Plenty of castles nearby to visit and a good swimming pool in Deal if you have kids or like to slide. The cottage is well equipped with a nice garden area and allows a dog to stay. Lovely wooden floors throughout and a friendly and relaxed area to stay in.
