Le nid de Loon a été récemment acheté au printemps 2017 et rénové pour être familial, ouvert et confortable! C'est un super chalet pour une famille ou un couple, pour profiter du lac et de tout ce qu'il a à offrir!

Nous avons acheté et rénové notre première maison sur Norcross Pond en 2016 (un 3BR + au bord du lac - VRBO # 886930) et nous étions très excités lorsque ce camp plus petit ouvert toute l'année a été mis en vente sur le même lac en 2017! Nous avons passé le printemps 2017 à rénover et nous avons eu une maison remplie d'invités tout l'été et l'automne! Nous espérons que vous apprécierez partager notre escapade dans le Maine. Maison: L'espace principal de vie et de rassemblement est à l'étage supérieur (cuisine, salle à manger, salon avec canapé sectionnel, et salle de bain complète), en bas se trouve une chambre (lit queen, canapé-lit et bureau). Chambre a également la place pour un pack et jouer (disponible sur demande). Les deux niveaux ont d'énormes fenêtres qui donnent sur le lac et la nouvelle terrasse. Il y a une cuisine complète équipée pour cuisiner et un four et une table de cuisson vintage que vous êtes sûr d'apprécier! La maison a une terrasse reconstruite, zone de café du matin à l'avant de la maison, et une terrasse "happy hour" vers la plage. Il y a un petit patio avant (côté non-lac) avec un barbecue et un coin salon. De plus, si vous venez avec des enfants, il y a beaucoup de matériel pour bébé / enfant en bas âge disponible si nécessaire (chaise haute, sac à dos et jouer, livres, crayons, papier, jeux, jouets, assiettes / tasses / bols / autres).

Lakefront and Lake Description: Des escaliers mènent de la maison à une plage de sable privée avec un quai, un canoë et un bateau à pédales disponible (inclus). L'étang de Norcross est long d'un mille avec des camps et des maisons le long d'un côté seulement - maintenant le lac tranquille. L'eau est claire et le lac a un fond de sable pour une bonne baignade. Les bateaux rapides, les bateaux pontons et les jet-skis sont autorisés, mais comme le lac est petit, vous ne pouvez pas sortir de bateau toute la journée. Une rampe de mise à l'eau est disponible si vous voulez amener votre propre bateau pour stationner au quai (notez que la rampe de bateau est sale et raide). Le lac est plein de bars, de perches et de truites, alors apportez vos cannes à pêche quelle que soit la saison que vous visiterez. Il y a aussi des endroits à proximité pour la cueillette de myrtilles, la randonnée, les films, la crème glacée, les restaurants, etc. Le lac est incroyable pour le feuillage d'automne et est à proximité de Mount Blue, Tumbledown, et d'autres montagnes de randonnée pour l'automne.

Activités locales: randonnée, cueillette de bleuets / fraises / pommes, cinéma, glaces, homards, restaurants, marchés, festivals, foire, antiquaires, vélo, petit-déjeuner au café du bureau de poste (à ne pas manquer!), ski, motoneige, et plus.

Excursions à proximité: Farmington, lacs de Belgrade, Mount Blue, montagnes de ski multiples, Sandy River Railroad, DEW Animal Farm, Norlands Living History Center, Golf (Turner Highlands, Sandy River, Lac Wilson, et autres), événements U Maine Farmington, et plus . Beaucoup d'excursions (randonnée, ski, océan, et plus) dans les 1-2 heures - les villes côtières du Maine (Camden, Rockport), Rangeley et Saddleback Mtn, Sugarloaf, Bethel / Sunday River Mtn, et plus encore.

Beautiful location

This was a wonderful place to stay. We were concerned about the lack of A/C for a couple of 90*F days, but the fans ended up being sufficient. The boats were great and we got a lot of use out of the canoes.

Exactly what they say it is

It’s a nice little camp. But it’s just that-it’s just a camp so if you’re looking for a fancy vacation rental, this isn’t it. For us, we were looking for a place to swim and fish and let our dogs swim so it was perfect. The only criticism I do have, is there something wrong with the bed. There’s like a hole in the middle and everybody just rolls towards each other. It was very uncomfortable. Also, they say there’s no AC, but it does get really hot especially at night time and most of the windows don’t open downstairs.

A perfect vacation home

The cottage provided everything we needed for our stay. It's clean and comfortable. The views from living room and bedroom were beautiful! We enjoyed swimming, boating and fishing! Highly recommended for families with kids who love water activities.

Family trip to Maine

We enjoyed our first trip to Maine staying in Loon’s Nest. Fishing is great and the boats add to the lake enjoyment. Loons on the lake each day added to the beautiful, peaceful views.

Maine Experience

Our introduction to Maine included a stay in this cozy, comfortable lakeside cottage. We were within 1 1/2 hours from Rockport and 30 minutes to Manchester. The cabin was well stocked with essentials, but there are many delicious restaurants within an easy, scenic drive. So glad we chose this area, and the natural beauty of the pond is stunning. The homeowners were wonderful as well.

Stay at loons nest

Had a great time at the lake , good kayaking and boating, did some fishing. The kid's loved the water.it's a very quiet pond, just what we wanted. No beach because of the high water but otherwise fabulous.

Loons Nest

Absolutely loved our time at the loons nest. Retro hunting cabin at its finest. Lake and surrounding area was gorgeous. We spent a lot of time in Livermore falls and Jay. Was a wonderful honeymoon for my wife and I. Enjoyed great food at the berry fruit farm and the moosehead lodge.

Perfect getaway

Beautiful views from every direction. Very nice and clean cottage many upgrades since we stayed 6 years ago. We will definitely be back. Laurie & Ian were great hosts they were very prompt to answer any questions. Highly recommend

Maine lake

Did not enjoy the 45 steps to and from the lake but we are both over 70. For years we camped on a lake in the Adirondacks and I pretended that we had a cabin on the lake. Now we rent a cabin on the lake and pretend that we are camping. But I enjoyed floating in the lake and canoeing.

Fantastic home!

Fantastic house perfect for a relaxing getaway! Everything is updated and clean, filled with charm and all you need. It's located on a beautiful lake with a fantastic dock and bonus pedal boat and canoe. Laurie was also very kind and a pleasure to communicate with. She provides a lot of useful information upon booking and at the house about the cute surrounding areas which is great :) We would definitely recommend!

Lovely little cabin, beautiful lake, great for a couple

We loved our stay. Two small tweaks would have made it perfect. Front seat in the canoe needs repair! Also, hard to fish well from a boat without an anchor. Everything else was wonderful.

Great stay

Had a great tìme. Had everything we needed for the week...even coffee! The week was brutally hot..would have benefited from AC. (Only reason we probably wont be back) The lake bottom was mucky, but water shoes solved the problem (for the adults anyway) overall, a great time...beautiful view. Very quiet (except for one morning when a neighbor was screaming at the the top of his lungs which was scary) only lasted a few minutes.

Quiet Getaway

Wonderful location. First time in Maine. Really enjoyed the camp, the location on the lake, and access to the canoe. If you want a true Maine camp experience, this was perfect. Early June was a perfect time to visit with cooler temps and less people. Laurie and Ian were wonderful in describing the location and being accessible by text to help with last minute questions. Highly recommend this property and a visit to the Chesterville Corner Store where they will treat you like a local. Perfect stay for our first trip to Maine and our 30th Anniversary. Thank you again.

Perfect!

The cabin was exactly as advertised. The amenities were very well thought out, right down to the little welcome gift on the kitchen table (nice touch). Everything, dishes, furniture, linens were very clean (didn't need to use paper plates, plastic cutlery etc. that we brought with us). Plenty of supplies like toilet paper and lifejackets for all 5 of us. We loved it so much, we booked another visit while still there! Could not have asked for more!

Perfect little get away

This place is exactly as they advertise! Cute, little camp, great views, local to some great stuff a short drive away. Clean, quiet, it was perfect! They left clear instructions on how to watch tv, or using other items, Left some orange out to walk around the pond (during hunting season). They do have a water fountain with drinkable water, but my only add would be to bring condiments, they don’t have any in the fridge. Overall a great stay! We will be back! The Lees!

Great place to stay!!!

We loved the place very much!!! It has a lot of character, the lake was beautiful, water was soooo warm and clean! Loons just added to the natural beauty of the place! We loved having a paddleboat there, sunsets were stunning, neighbors were super friendly! Our dog had so much fun! It learned how to swim! We loved eating on the deck and looking at the water. The owners were quick to respond if we needed anything. Everything that they said will be there, was there, we didnt have a shortage of anything. I would definitely book it again!!!

Dangerous Stairs

The accommodations were marginal at best. The cabin was obviously going through some renovation/remodeling. The most troubling part was how non-code compliant the stairs were going into the basement bedroom. They were downright treacherous The outside stairs going from the road into the cabin and down the side of the cabin were not much better. This should be made clear in the listing. We did not even stay the whole time.

Loon’s Nest Stay

My wife and I had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at Loon’s Nest cottage. Nice location a short drive from Farmington’s stores and restaurants. All utensils for cooking in are there. The layout provides nice views of the pond from both levels. A pair of Loon’s was on the pond every day. Nice dock with a canoe and paddle boat. Weather wasn’t the best but I caught bass from the dock and when I took the canoe out, more bass and a nice brook trout. Plenty of outdoor seating for relaxing. Excellent communication with Laurie. Kept us informed up to and during our stay. If you like antiquing there are many stores a short drive away. We would love to return at some point. Steve and Elizabeth

Beautiful pond, nice cabin for a couple, but not 6

The pond had a pair of Loons, which made the trip amazing! Boating and laying on rafts was so nice; clean warm water. It’s on a main road where vehicles are going way too fast much of the day, including tractor trailers, which really took away from how peaceful it could have been. The stairs from the bedroom to bathroom are also very loud when using them during night. We had a great time, but it’s important to note that it’s pretty rustic, has an incredible climb up and down to the lake and the deck furniture was covered in pine sap, so really not usable. It’s not for folks who like luxury. The host was slow to respond and never got back to us on a question asked mid week, via text.

Qui vous reçoit ?

Vous êtes reçu par Laurie & Ian Smith

Laurie grew up in Maine and spent summers on this lake her entire life. He parents now live on the lake year round and her grandparents and uncle are here all summer as well. Laurie's family has been summering here since her grandfather bought some lake homes here after returning from WWII and the lake is full of families who live here year round or return year after year.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We purchased this house in the spring of 2017 for our extended family to enjoy when they come visit. We live in NH have two little kids who love the lake, boating, etc. We are so excited to share this wonderful lake with other families!

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Norcross Pond is only one mile long, which makes it the ideal size for all activities. It's easy for families with kids to enjoy boating, kayaking, fishing, etc - and you can still see them no matter how far they go! Also, with the other side remaining wooded property, every house looks out over the lake with a view the trees along the other side. The lake is also a wonderful fishing spot, with bass, perch , and stocked trout as well. In the winter, you can ice fish, snowmobile to the main trail system, ice skate, and snowshoe as well.
