The large pool terrace, bathed in sunshine all day during the summer months, is very private and enjoys magnificent hillside and distant sea views, creating a dazzling backdrop for your trip.

Quinta Fonte do Cascalho is set in 2 acres of gated grounds amid the tranquil Algarve hills; just 20 minutes north of Faro airport and on the edge of the Portuguese town of Sao Bras de Alportel; full of traditional charm with many street cafes, restaurants, banks, tourist office, shops and supermarkets. Restaurant and bar prices are more to the locals liking rather than the inflated rates in tourist resorts.

This is an ideal location for people who want to get away from it all and enjoy a relaxing holiday in privacy yet the beautiful beaches of the Algarve are just a short distance by car, plus having easy access to all the holiday attractions the Algarve can offer.


This modern, fully air-conditioned, country house is finished to very high standards for comfort and entertainment.

The large entertainment area has a generous dining table with capacity for 8 people; and the spacious lounge has a leather 3 seat sofa with two leather recliner chairs; perfect for watching a film or your favourite program on the large Smart TV with surround sound. This area also contains the central WiFi hub with your own personal and private network for high speed internet access. For the cooler months of the year, there is a cosy log fire in the lounge and air-conditioning provides heat throughout the rest of the villa.

The modern farmhouse kitchen, fitted with granite worktops and large AGA range cooker, has all the utensils and equipment you will need for the preparation of meals. There is a large brick-built charcoal BBQ adjacent to the kitchen, for cooking during those lovely balmy Algarve evenings.

In addition to the dining table in the villa, food can be enjoyed alfresco on the upper BBQ terrace table with seating for 8. There is also seating on the lower pool terrace where you can enjoy a drink and nibbles at the end of the day and reflect on what you have; or have not done.

If dining out is your desire; there are many fine dining and casual restaurants providing traditional or international cuisine throughout the immediate area.

The master suite, with own private terrace, occupies the entire first floor of the villa and provides ‘360 degree’ panoramic views. It has a king size ‘Duxiana’ bed, with multi-positioned headboard; a full entertainment system comprising 32” flat screen Smart TV. There is also a trouser press and personal safe. The en-suite bathroom has a large corner temperature controlled spa/whirlpool bath with four preset programs to suit your mood, plus lighting if desired.

The other two bedrooms have large handmade ‘Millbrook’ pocket sprung beds and individual entertainment systems of Smart TV and DVD players. Bedroom 2, which benefits from an additional private entrance, is also equipped with a trouser press and personal safe. The other bathrooms are also fitted with temperature controlled spa/whirlpool baths with four preset programs, plus lighting.

The colour scheme and furniture, for the entertainment area and kitchen, has been specifically selected to provide that feeling of coolness and comfort during the long warm summers enjoyed in the Algarve. It also provides a feeling of warmth and comfort during the few cooler months of the year. All of the windows and patio doors are fitted with electric shutters to tone down the glare if needed or provide that extra seclusion if desired.
