The Picture Window - Beautiful Grade 2 listed barn conversion
Set on the beautiful, unspoilt south Cornish coast in the grounds of Penwarne Manor, The Picture Window is one of five lovingly converted barns. The Picture Window looks out on to the adjacent field, and provides modern, self catering accommodation in a tranquil setting. Portmellon is a short stroll away, where you can get a coffee, hire a paddle board, or play on the beach. Mevagissey is less than a mile away, with its narrow streets and unique inner and outer harbour walls.
Excellent base for a family holiday in Cornwall. Vicky and Nathan weâre excellent hosts and made us very welcome. Their welcome pack was much appreciated and they couldnât have been more helpful throughout our stay. We would certainly recommend a stay in the South Barn.
Penwarne Manor, is a beautiful place to stay, the accommodation was immaculate and Nathan and Vicky were so welcoming. The location was perfect for us a family, with a short walk down to Port Mellon beach and a slightly longer walk into Mevagissey offering shops and restaurants by the Harbour.
Our 3 bedroom converted barn was beautiful, it was the perfect size for a family of 5 and Nathan and Vicky have clearly gone above and beyond to ensure that you have everything you may need.
We loved our stay here and are sure we will return :)
What a great time is Mevagissey and a perfect place to make our home base for a week! 6 of us stayed in the South Barn and loved relaxing in the home and surrounds before and after long days spent ranging around Cornwall's sites. Thanks for the stay!
Lovely cottage, wonderfully peaceful setting with great hosts
We arrived to a great welcome (huge homemade carrot cake, bottle of wine etc!) with thoughtfully provided instructions to a local walk and lovely card from Nathan and family. Perfect start to the holiday.
The cottage was spacious, clean and well equipped with all the mod cons of home. Lots of room to relax inside or out with a lovely outdoor space for barbequeing or a separate area for relaxing on the grass.
The setting was very peaceful and right next to the starting point for a couple of good walks. There is a great play space for older kids and loads of toys provided.
Would definitely considering staying again and exploring more of the brilliant local attractions such as the Eden Project or spending time on any of the beautiful beaches.
Overall great cottage, great hosts, great holiday.
Almost reluctant to put my review on here as I want to keep it secret !! Couldnât have been more delighted with our stay - the stone barn was so well designed and appointed , with such attention to detail ...hugely spacious lounge /kitchen , 3 bedrooms. Plenty of parking which can be tricky in Cornwall . The kitchen was fully equipped so we could cook comfortably ( we even did a roast dinner one day ) plenty of glasses, plates, cutlery , egg cups ( we had dippy eggs with the lovely local eggs left in our welcome pack so were chuffed with that ! ) . The welcome pack was such an unexpected treat - milk, local bacon, eggs, sausages, bread, marmalade, cheese, crackers even a home made carrot cake and hand written welcome card .
There was also tea ,coffee, sugar, oil, salt, tin foil , bin bags , washing up liquid etc etc - so often we have arrived somewhere and had to go out and buy essentials like washing up sponges or washing up liquid but none of that. We had a tesco shop delivered to us on the Saturday ( the owners even offered to put it away for us if we got it delivered on the Friday before we arrived ) and were all set for a few days - really wish we stayed longer !
Beds were comfortable and the two bathrooms huge and stylish - great big towels which I loved ! It was also perfectly placed for walking into the beautiful town of Mevagissy - prepare for a steep walk back up but there are plenty of lovely restaurants and pubs all round the harbour to fortify yourself before the walk back. We were lucky with sunny October half term weather but it would have been fine just to get the log burner going and stay in ! Nathan and Vicky the owners have done a wonderful job of restoring these barns and have created something very special . Thankyou for a wonderful stay . We hope to come back very soon next time we need to soothe our souls and enjoy Cornwall.
This was our second visit to Penwarne Manor. We have two young children and have stayed both times in the Picture Window. Our children loved the cows in the field next to the barn who often had a look to see what we were doing! Our little boys also loved the space outside and being able to run and play on the trampoline. Very modern and tastefully decorated with all the equipment and more for a two week stay. A very generous food hamper was provided with a yummy cake. The owners are great and not intrusive. It was sad to leave!
FĂŒr Familien mit Kindern sehr empfehlenswert. Wunderbar ausgebaut und eingerichtet. Trampolin vorhanden. Internet sehr gut. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefĂŒhlt. Der Hafen von Mevagissey ist 15 min zu FuĂ entfernt. Guter StĂŒtzpunkt fĂŒr AusflĂŒge. Thank you, Nathan!
We are five ladies from Norway who stayed in The South Barn. A beautiful appartment With everything we could need. We really loved the Place and Nathan deserve a gold medal for his kindness. We travel a lot around Europe and this is one of the best Places we have been. Even the wheather was beautiful. Thanks for some wonderful days
The South Barn at Penwarne Manor is a perfect retreat any time of year. The cottage is nice and quiet but close to all amenities and spacious enough for a party of 6 plus our dog!. There was a much appreciated welcome pack of eggs, bacon, sausages, wine and luxurious brownies. The cottage has some lovely features and we settled in very quickly. The lounge area could have done with a larger sofa or another arm chair and the kitchen a little bit more equipped however such points did not deter us from enjoying our stay. There are also some lovely walks to take close by with spectacular views. The owners, Vicky and Nathan, are very welcoming and around if you need anything but not too intrusive.
We would highly recommend Penwarne Manor
